Should come with a photo organizer (e.g. Best Album +Transfer)

I bought it for my dad to import pictures to his ipad when travelling (and not having iTunes around for syncing) and got very disappointed: So much money for an almost useless function.

After the import is done the pictures just pile up in a big folder "all imports".... yes you can watch them by date (Events) and by Location (Places) but everyone is used to tag/organize photos in many different ways these days ... and that is simply not possible in the Apple Photo Application. Even third party applications (unless we talk jailbreak) cannot edit the picture library due to apples thin interface being available on iOS4.

Apple's support for organizing photos is a mess! The best I could come up with is "Best Album (+Transfer) which can "LINK" to your Pictures and organize them pretty slick. That's the way to handle your Pictures.

    Waste of money for me

I bought this hoping it can backup my photos and videos to my iPad, unfortunately it cannot recognize my 3 years old jvc camcorder, neither my new 8th sdhc card. I hope I can still return it.

    yes & no

I took 2 SD cards to the local apple store with identical pic's on each. My Nikon 7000 has 2 card slots and you can use one for backup. Card 1 was a Sony 8gb SDHC, card 2 was a SanDisk 8gb SDHD. Card # 2 worked with the connection kit fine, card # 1 showed no pi'c on card. SO, the sales guy went to a regular Mac that had the card reader built in. QUESS WHAT, it read card 1 but NOT card 2. Go figure. My old H/P computer is able to read both cards as is my Cannon Pixma printer. I don't know if this helps anyone. I'm still not sure what to do. All I want to use the I-pad for is previewing pictures????

    Great Product!

I bought the kit and was very satisfied. Pictures and videos download very quickly and easily. Buying this product cuts out the step of downloading the pictures first to the computer, then to the iPad. I recommend anyone who takes a lot of pictures and puts them on their iPad to purchase this kit. Definitely worth the money.

Neither the USB or SD connectors work with my or my wife's iPad2. The SD connector isn't recognized at all and when I tried to connect a flash drive using the USB connector I got a prompt that said the device used too much power and couldn't be supported. Total waste of money. Would give it zero stars if that were possible.

Works well for what it is supposed to do

As above, but does not accept jump drives.
If it was possible to do so, then this would be a mind blower.
Transfers pix in a smooth and good manner, no matter which is used.
    Good purchase to consider

It works but there is nothing amazing about it

I can't believe I have to shell out another $35 for these. They are nothing more than external adapters to Apple proprietary connector. Nothing magical or amazing about them. If anything they are a nuisance because there are two more things to lug around and go missing when you really need them.

Why a SD card reader and USB port not built into the iPad is beyond me. So you missed it with the original iPad. What's the excuse for not having it in the iPad 2 design?

These adapters are perfect for travel, especially the SD card reader. Worked flawlessly with my Nikon D7000 on a recent trip to Greece...

    Works with Canon Powershot G12

In response to review stating "does not work with Canon Powershot cameras" I am delighted to report that the adapter/iOS 4.3.3/iPad2 work flawlessly with my G12. 5 stars!

    Excellent product

Having read other reviews on here that talk about incompatibility with semi-pro cameras, I took the advantage of a trip to London to visit an Apple Store to check before purchase. Having been assured that it would work with my camera, I purchased it. Plugging the camera in via the USB connection, it showed up instantly, and quickly downloaded the photos to my iPad. The pictures look wonderful on screen, and can be easily synced with a computer, or emailed or edited in the iPad itself. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and will be using it a lot!

    Versatile and very useful.

When used with an SD card, iPhone and Pentax DSLR it works flawlessly, treating each device as a Camera in iPhoto.

It also works with my M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 USB keyboard. I can now play a real piano in Garageband on my iPad 2 instead of using the on-screen keyboard. I have heard it works with USB microphones but haven't tried it yet.

I couldn't get it to work with a USB keyboard, hard drive or thumb drive.
If you buy a product and use it for something it's not intended for, don't complain and give a 1 star review if it doesn't work.

The iPad Camera Connection Kit does what it's supposed to and works perfectly. It works with cameras - everything else is a bonus.

Before I brought this I was looking at the reviews about this and was getting very worried that it wasn't as good as it claimed. I got this yesterday and thought I need to right this review as all the negative reviews for this product are rubbish. This product is very easy and portable to use and the pictures came up fantastic. Thank you apple for another great, easy, and fantastic product!!!

    Quick transfer of photos

The USB works great to get photos off my iPhone 4 to my iPad 2 quickly and seamlessly. Also worked transferring pics from a PC to the iPad using a SD card. All we had to do was put the pics into a DCIM folder.

Does not work with Cannon Powershot

This only worked the first time I connected the iPad 2 to camera usng the USB connector. After the first time, the iPad 2 does not detect the camera. I tried everything - charging up iPad, new batteries on camera, removing and replacing SD card on camera but nothing worked. I finally removed the SD card from the camera and used the other connector with the SD card slot and it worked. My first Apple product and am disappointed that it cannot perform a simple operation.

    Apple iCan't Connect Kit

Total and utter waste of money, trust me don't even be tempted by the Apple die-hard's weak support in these reviews, you would be far better off looking along the lines some kind of Bluetooth transfer of photos like Photo-sync or similar using a BT sd card reader. If you do buy this kit then don't buy your camera first but find out which cameras are compatible (there aren't many), frustratingly slow. This item highlights Apple's commitment to moving along with new technology....and just ignoring about what they have left behind. Who knows we may get a Connection kit 2, and then 3 or even 4 before the years out. I give this one star because the post was on time.

    why was I worried ?

I read the reviews and was worried when ordering, but I shouldn't have been. I have successfully used it with ScanDsik 8Gb HD cards and Nikon D3100 camera. Both connectors worked a treat, thanks Apple.

    Too much power

For people that it says this device uses too much power, just make sure your iPad is charged over 50%. There are no other problems with this product and it works amazing
