    Preventing connector wear

I've used Apple's T-shaped connector power supply for nearly 6 years without any issue so far. To make it last longer do not remove the cable from the computer by "pulling out" on it. The easiest way is to put a finger underneath the connector and tilt it upward until the magnet releases. Also, when you wind the connector around the brick, don't make the turns too tight, especially the first turn--leave slack on the adapter end so the turn isn't too tight.

Melted cord and could have caught fire. Extremely hazardous!

First off, I hardly ever write reviews but I sincerely hope this reaches Apple's research and development team. I have purchased nearly every type of device apple carries and I am an extremely faithful customer with little complaints (I'm currently using my Retina Display iPad to write this haha).

The rMBP is my second MacBook Pro and I am more than pleased with the laptop but Apple has one fatal flaw to their masterpiece, their power adapter. I was using my MacBook in my office and noticed a burnt plastic smell. I began looking around and immediately realized my cord was extremely hot and the beginning of the thinner side was missing the rubber covering from the heat.

Luckily the adapter was on a cold desk surface so heat was not conducted. Had it been near a carpet or blanket there could have been a serious issue. Oh also the magnet is very weak. This may be my last Apple product. I shouldn't have to worry about my safety with any electronic device. If I could give this zero stars I would.

    Works fine, ordering more

Works fine for me, maybe I'm not as picky as most of the reviewers. I'm ordering more, rather than ordering the adapter, so as to not introduce any other magnet issues or profile ("sticking-out-the-side-of-laptop") issues.

    One step forward 2 back

I just don't understand the lack of thought coming from Apple with this pathetic T-Mag charger. WHY WHY W H Y would you back to this frustrating peace of you know what?
You did it right last time, it stayed on. NOW, when ever I put my "laptop" on my Lap the freaking charger falls off. AAAARRRRRRR

Lousy design, Apple is losing its way.

My Mac is less than 2 months old and already this power adapter will not stay seated in place. It's a total annoyance that will only get worse with time. I also wish there were a 0 stars option.

    Garbage

Garbage. I own a 2007 Macbook Pro. Throughout the years, I have gone through three batteries and 2 T-Shaped magsafes. I never had an issue paying for a new charger, since the old ones lasted a good 2 years or so. However after 5 months of use, the cable near the connector frayed, exposing the wiring underneath. My local apple store refused to replace the adapter under their 1 year warranty, citing user error. Eventually, they caved in after I mentioned how low quality and unsafe (fire issues) these adapters could become. Terrible design, horribly expensive and don't expect them to last.

    Charger falls out

Just like everyone else I wish I could give this charger zero stars.

It constantly falls out when I make the slightest movement and it has seriously gotten on my last nerve. I've only had this laptop for two weeks now and I just want some duck tape every time I plug my laptop in to charge.

    Annoying to use

I keep my laptop charged 90% of the time and use my laptop ON MY LAP most of the time. You cannot use this charger on your lap without it knocking loose. The magnet is strong BUT because there is about .5mm too much space on the top and bottom when the magsafe is connected, it wiggles off too easily up and down. Side to side, it's very tight and secure. I understand the concept of having a charger that easily disconnects to protect the laptop from accidentally falling off a table or something, but this is ridiculous. Now I have resorted to buying the snug let to be able to use the laptop on my lap. Apple should reimburse us the cost of this little apparatus since they didn't make the charger right to begin with.

    Returned Twice

I purchased a new MacBook Pro at the beginning of the semester. Twice the MagSafe adapter has died on me at the most inopportune times - in the middle of a paper and in the middle of an online exam. Both times a customer service person saved me after appointment takers for the Genius Bar refused to help me in any meaningful way. The product is obviously flawed.

    Seems great to me

Works fine. Could be just a little more magnetic to keep the charger in place. Great product

    As others have said..

The plug constantly falls out at the slightest touch. Please make the magnet stronger, never had this issue with my 2009 MBP.

    Worst and dangerous adaptor around!

One of the worst adaptors ever used. Lasted 7 months only - noticed was not charging my macbook pro and found that the part of the cable entering main adaptor body had frayed and burnt through insulation. Noticed this has happened to several other people who have written on this review string as well. This is a fire / safety hazard! Went to apple store and spoke to a sales rep who obviously had no answers why this should happened and spoke w they technician who said it was my fault this happened - due to wear and tear! What a joke! if wear and tear causes this to happen over 7 months - its a poor product of low quality! So I had to buy a new one for AUD$99 as it was 'my fault'.

    Cord frayed from regular usage

Similar to previous reports in this feedback review webpage - power cord frayed and burnt out through the insulation near power adaptor unit after only 6 months usage.
Terrible quality and unacceptable hazard / potential fire risk as well.

    4 DAYS THEN USELESS

Bought a new 15.4 Macbook Pro on Friday, by Tuesday I cant use the thing as the Mag safe power supply not working, I am disgusted with the obviously poor quality and after reading the other reviews I am wondering if I should have stayed with an Acer PC, never had any problems before.

    WHY???

The old adapter was great - had a slim profile and strong magnet. This one is difficult to attach and sticks out like a sore thumb. Love my new Macbook Pro but the power cord is horrible!!!

    not happy

I don't like this adapter at all :-(
It detaches much too easy. Also don't like the T form. it's bigger than the old L.

I liked the L form of the previous adapters much better. So much that I bought 3 of them so I can charge my macbook anywhere I want. Now I need a tiny converter to connect the old adapters to the new macbook. Why?

    Most Annoying Connector Ever

Where is the zero star rating?

David Pouge wrote an article about this in the New York Times.
"... the poorly designed MagSafe connector is infuriating. It’s the worst Apple design blunder since the hockey-puck mouse."

I agree 1000%. Its maddening. Who in their mother-loving mind makes a laptop that cannot be used on the lap and charge at the same time???

I miss the L-style connector. I have better things to do than constantly reconnect my power cord to my laptop. I will not buy another Apple product that has this useless connector.

    hate it

For me personally, this charger disconnects too easily. I know there are violently clumsy people who might love how easily it disconnects so that their laptop doesn't get yanked to the ground, but I find it a nuisance. You see, I'm not violently clumsy. I'm only gently clumsy so I disconnect the charger accidentally all the time when the laptop is on my lap. I've owned many other laptops and have never had a problem with breaking the cord or tripping over it or yanking my laptop to the ground. Every other laptop charger I have ever owned, including Dell, Lenovo and HP work better than this.
