    Such A Bad Product!

I love my MacBook Pro, but the power adapter has to be the worst product ever designed. First, as many have already said, the adapter doesn't stay plugged into the MBP. Then, as I experienced with my MacBook Air, I have already had to buy a new cord and my MBP is only 4 months old. Really poor quality and design, Apple!

    Falls Out Much Too Easily

I just replaced my old MBA with the 2013 MacBookAir. The computer is fine -- an improvement on on already great product (albeit one which died too early). The MagSafe2 Power Adaptor is horrible though. The adaptor falls out with the slightest bump, and is constantly falling out and interfering with my work. It presents a large practical problem to using my MacBookAir the way I had become accustomed to doing with my old one.

    What's the problem guys???

It is GREAT! I've used these for many years with many MB Pros and they are all great - every one of them! I now own the 2nd generation model and it is better than them all. I can't imagine what the problem could be?

For the record - I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE NEW PRODUCT - IT WORKS VERY WELL, AS THEY ALWAYS HAVE, AND IT IS NOW BETTER THAN EVER!

    "0" stars

Can I give thisMagSafe2 Power Adapter a "0" star rating? It's bad enough to make me wish I had never sold my original MacAir and bought the new one. I loved the MagSafe cable. This one? I haven't seen a worse example of backward designing ever. It sticks out, it flips out constantly, then the cable slips on the floor so every minute or two I'm having to fish for it, plug it back in and start over. Even when it stays in because I don't let it touch ANYTHING and don't let the cable pull the least bit on it from gravity, it sticks out so far to the left it's a huge inconvenience. If Apple would just change it so the cable attached at either end of the plug in piece it would be so much much better...it's stronger in that direction and not as liable to bumping...

    Why so much negative feedback

I'm a huge Apple fan, and did not have only one MacBook Pro. I bought the rMBP and the MagSafe 2 Power Adapter is fine. It saved my MacBook many times. If I just think about this, all the other computers in the world don't have this magnet feature, so if I would have any other computer than my mac, the computer would be destroyed. I think people are too picky when they talk about sitting on the couch, in bed, etc. I always use my mac there, and sure it disconnects (if you apply enough pressure), but if you sit normally everything is fine.

    Not very durable

This cord did not hold up very well put tore after only 8 months of use. Would expect a more durable product from apple. Having to buy a new one.

    Smells of something burning.

So I'm sitting here working and I start smelling something burning. No clue as to what it is I stand up. Then I look on the floor and the wire going from MagSafe 2 to the computer is turning black at the base of the plug. I quickly unplug it, feel the cable and it's hot to the touch.

I can't use my laptop while it's charging...

I have 3 problems with this charger:

    1) The magnet is not even half as strong as the L-shaped Magsafe 1. With the Magsafe 1, I had to apply quite a bit of force to unplug it. It stayed in when I wanted it to, and came out when it needed to, which is exactly as advertised. I can't touch this charger without it coming unplugged.

    2) I can't sit cross-legged because the cord sticks out of the computer at a 90º angle. The only way I can use my Macbook is if I set it up on a table. If I want to sit cross-legged with my computer, I need a tray or something to keep everything in place, which is obnoxious.

    3) It shocks me. I'm serious. It shocks me when I touch it, and I'm afraid to pull the thing out. This is not the quality that I expect from Apple, and I don't know why they would change the L-shape design that I never had any problems with in favor of a design with so many problems.

This is not a do not buy warning more of a APPLE redesign this!! I did report it to UL

Forget T,L, or whatever, how about E for...

The most inconvenient charger ever. I'm new to Apple and I've got to say, having this charger makes things quite deplorable. I love MacBook but the elephant size connector has got to be redesigned; even elephants have small trunks that connect it with its energy source.

    Weak flex, seriously heat

The body of the charger gets extremely hot and flex is so weak that it has broken after less than a year of use. This is a terrible product compared to the MacBooks themselves, the only redeeming feature is the magnet which was a great addition in 2006 but the lack of development since is a constant source of disappointment.

    Worst Plug In-DO NOT BUY

This is the worst plug in. I slightly move my computer and the whole thing comes unplugged. I just read a review where somebody stated that this charger controls them, and I completely agree. I have to constantly worry about the charger staying in. I had an old macbook 13 in., and that charger/magnet was great!!! It would stay plugged in when it need to, but unplugged if I tripped on it or something. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

MagSafe 2 Adapter stopped working suddenly

I have MBP Retina display (1-month old) and today I observed that its MagSafe 2 Power adapter stopped working suddenly. No orange/green lights. Tried changing power outlets but still no success. Luckily I had bought a spare one too. So currently using it for charging. But its really disappointing that within 1 month power adapter would die. Not a good sign Apple.

    Horrible.

Just purchased a retina macbook and this is the only thing i cannot stand! I suppose it would work ok if the macbook is permanently sitting on a table. Every time i move the macbook it falls out, It is the weakest adapter i have come across. I had the L shaped one on my old macbook and had zero issues with it!

    Great idea :)

The magnet has its moments where it could be a little stronger. But ever since i have crossed over from PC to Apple. This charger is awesome. I was notorious for destroying the old PC charging cables as they were either accidentally pulled on or even worse if someone tripped over the cable, the entire PC (laptop) came with the cable. This magsafe 2 power adaptor for my Macbook pro Retina, stops this from happening.

    another split cable

Apple why can't you make charger cables that don't split? I bought a 15" Retina MBP five months ago and already the cable is split. This happened with the last MacBook Pro too. C'mon!!

I think I've found a solution [to the MagSafe 2 falling out]...

I bought a MagSafe Power Adaptor and use a MagSafe->MagSafe 2 adaptor. It's not perfect, but sure works a heck of a lot better.

    Horrible

This is my 2nd macbook pro and by far this is the worst adapter. I had my old adapter on my 09 mbp and the adapter worked perfectly for 4 years. But I this adapter is awful. After having the computer for only a year the cord is frayed and the magnet is week. I am hoping that there is a recal or something on these so i can get a new one.
