    Poor design, weak magnet.

L shape was better, magnet falls out ALL THE TIME.

    A couple of problems.

    1. The L shape was great. The T shape is weak and not ergonomic at all. It gets pinched, and falls out much more than necessary.

    2. It gets hot! I mean, you can't even touch it. It's unbelievable.

    3. I haven't experienced fraying yet on it, but it sure seems possible. I understand exactly why others say that it has.

    4. The fact that the transformer's weight is so much makes it fall out of wall outlets. This doesn't seem like a major deal, but what about when you don't have a choice but the wall outlet and you don't want to extend your cable to be able to plug it in.

These decisions make absolutely no sense. Why would you design a product with so many flaws? A beautiful machine like a Retina MacBook Pro needs a better accessory. I literally can't say anything good about it. It charges my Mac. That's about the only thing good about it. It's a pitiful product, to be completely honest. Pitiful.

    Giant step backwards

I really dislike the new MagSafe 2 connector, it comes out at least 10 times a day. Never had this problem with the previous MagSafe (both T and L designs). At this point I'd prefer an actual plug and risk my 3k rMBP hitting the floor a few times.

1.) T design head is the worst. It needs to be a L design like MagSafe1. This is an apple design flaw. T design deeps falling off, very very annoying. It's disappointing that the new design is a downgrade from the predecessor.

2.) While running a high resource environment, the power supply burns up insanely to a point it is almost hostile.

    none compared to MagSafe (original)

    Inconveniently wack.

Seriously having 3 laptops in the house that dont all use the same power cord is about the most annoying thing apple ever came up with. Paid a lot of money for these computers, work with me a bit here.

I sympathize with everyone who is carrying multiple kinds of power cords everywhere. At least make one that is interchangeable with different cords. its that bs.

Change of size creates new headaches

My first ever written complaint of Mac.

We have 6 laptops at our house.

Up until now - I did not have to drag a power adapter around - we have them all over the house.

However, now with the Retina/MacBook Pro/MagSafe 2 - the size changed. So now I have to drag my laptop around AND the MagSafe2 cable (I can't use any of the original MagSafe power cables).

Now I have to bring the cable home, bring it to work, bring it to every meeting...

My work office has Mac laptop chargers in every room. We now have to have 2 in every room?

Apple - please become a utility that I don't have to think about. I don't want to have to plan what cables I bring, I don't want to explain to my kids that they have to look at the cable and inspect it before bringing their laptop and a cable to their friends house for a sleepover. (I just see lots of little problems that are totally avoidable)...

Heck - at least make it neon blue or something so it at least looks different.

    This is not progress.

Bad Design - Disconnects too Frequently

Apple missed the ball on this one. :( Magsafe 2 disconnects far too easily. No problem if your laptop is on your desk - but put it on your lap and expect annoyingly frequent disconnects. The earlier sidebar-type Magsafe did not do this but Magsafe does and is IMHO a step backward in design

Some improvements, but even more problems

Cant sit the laptop on my lap whilst charging. The adaptor simply pops out. Annoying that it isn't compatible without probably one of apple's highest marked-up items. $10 for a piece of aluminium?!

The worst implementation of the best idea.

The MagSafe2 adapters stink. They fall out constantly. The old MagSafe adapters only fell out when they were supposed to--like when someone trips on your power cord. The MadSafe2 will fall out each time you use the laptop on your lap (get it lap top) and lean 1" left or right.

Makes me want to return my Macbook Pro.

This is by far the worst charger I have ever had the misfortune of using. It is near impossible to get the connector to stay attached to the laptop, It is just to weak.

I love the Macbook Pro with Retina as a laptop but I doubt I would recommend one to friends or family purely because of how useless this charger is. If Apple don't do something about this issue soon I will return the laptop and start searching for another brand.

    Give back

    Give back the L shape.

The cord gets very bended when powersupply is on the right side.

Not as nice as my 2007 Mac Book charger.

I used to be able to lift my old Mac Book off of the coffee table with no problems. If I tripped over the cord (it sure happens!), the cord would safely disconnect from the computer as it does now with my new retina model. The issue is when I lift my new Mac Book Pro Retina off of the coffee table, it is more likely than not that the new mag safe cable will disconnect and fall to the floor. I have been dealing with this issue since June 2012. I hope Apple can fix this inconvenience.

    poor design

Same experience as most of the other commenters. disconnects much too easily. sticks out to the side instead of towards the back. can't use the LAPtop on my LAP and expect to charge it at the same time. must set it still on a desk to charge, otherwise I am constantly reconnecting it. If the resultant multiple short charge cycles kill my battery, I'll be expecting Apple to replace the battery for free.

    New MagSafe Adapter is excellent!

I disagree with all of the negative reviews. I Liked the old "T" shaped adapter because it allowed release of the power cord easier. When the "L" shaped adapter came out, it held on so tight that if someone tripped on the cord, it could pull the laptop with it, potentially damaging the cord or worse, pulling the laptop off the table. This would be an even bigger problem with the much lighter MBP (retina). I would rather occasionally have to reconnect the power cord than have to replace expensive hardware. Great job once again Apple!

I wonder why Apple is releasing a power cord so terribly weak, and annoying. Do something about it. You can barely look at it without it´s falling out of the mac:-(

Magsafe 2 is awful. Disconnects from my computer on even the slightest movements. The old L-Shape was much better. Just an awful design for $2400 machine!

    This thing Blows

I agree with everyone that said this adapter blows. I loved the L shaped adapter, and I feel that apple screwed us with this new adapter. It falls out all the time, and gets pinched if the laptop is up against something else. The L shaped adapter was a revolutionary way to power a laptop, and worked great. Why did you change apple? Also, what the h3ll happened to my battery life time? You are constantly taking away things that made you great, or trying to keep your products incompatible with the rest of the world. Bring back the L shaped adapter. I can't believe I spend $3k on a laptop and lost the awesome L shaped connecter and my battery time. What good does percent do me?????

    Magnet Not Weak

I find the magnet to be just as strong as my previous MagSafe charger.

I'm not crazy about the T-design. I appreciate that it's better for cases where the cable gets yanked (detaches when you want it to, to save your laptop from taking a tumble).

But I loved how the L-design sat flush with the side of the machine. It was a little weird for Cinema Displays where some plugs were T and the power plug was L, but for the standalone charger the L-design was just wonderful.

    Very poorly designed T connector

As others have noted, the new T-style connector is very poorly designed. It gets dislodged with the slightest nudge on the connector, whereas the old L-style connector was much more firmly attached. I'm constantly losing the connection with this new style connector.

    Very poor design, Apple.
