    Unreliable

    As usual the design of this apple accessory is simple and elegant. I bought a second cable to charge my iPh5 in the car. When plugging in (either) I get the charge confirmation sound, sometimes multiple times. If i don't pay close attention to the battery icon change to "charging" I have ended up with a low battery. Not sure if its the cord or the receptacle of the phone.
    It would be great if this could be fixed. For the prices Apple slaps on their products they just cannot be cheap. Made in China or not. Bad Apple.

    I'm so sick of these chargers.

    I've had my iPhone 5 for about 3 months and a bit and I've already had to have about 3 chargers. I'm really annoyed with this because they're about $25 for the long leads and they just end up breaking in a couple of weeks. I think that apple should make the lightning charging end have a metal case so that it won't break as often.

    Needs some updates!

    Charger too short my factory charger just stopped working! Then I left my new charger on my trunk and it got crushed in the street! Now I have to buy new charger just hope it's not faulty like other people are saying! Also I think there's a year warranty on chargers so take advantage!

    I HAVE BOIGHT 4 CHARGERS AND THEY ALL WARE OUT ON THE END. Sorry it's fine I love the product but the charger wares out everytime I buy a new one!

    Cables are terrible

    If you are on the go a lot and have your charger with you these cables simply do not last. I'm on my 4th one since getting the Iphone 5 on launch. Same problem each time, they coil up near ends and stop working. Apple should abandon these cables since many others have the same problems. Dollar store quality.

    Time for class action lawsuit

    I too have the same problem with this cord. Had it less than 6 months and it stopped working. I thought it was just bad luck but after reading all the negative reviews this is a manufacturing issue. Consumers should not have to bear the cost of poor design. I cannot believe that Apple has not addressed this issue. Is the only way to get a response to this issue is to hire a lawyer?

    Breaks very easily

    I've been through three cables in about 6 months. My 30 pin lasted for years. The cable needs to be built more sturdily. I also work at Sams club. Our display cables make it a week too before they are broken from all of the wear. These were introduced to be more sturdy, not less.

    Perfect, love the new connector

    So much easier to use than the old connector. Length is good too, long enough to reach from an outlet or PC to the phone, short enough to not create a rat's nest when I shove it into my bag.

    Shocking

    Nothing like being shocked from your iphone 5 cable. Beware these are very dangerous, picked up my charging phone in my car and was shocked by exposed wires. I then began checking mine and my husbands other iphone 5 cables to realized that they are all breaking in the same exact spot. Not worth $19.99 Apple needs to recall these cables and introduce a new reinforced design. NOT HAPPY!

    Complete Rubbish!

    Really angry, this is my third charger in what?, 9 months, same problem that everyone else has, after a while the wire breaks ,and the wire has to be held in position to charge. I would recommend that other people stop wasting their money on these expensive, cheaply made chargers and buy from other sites.

    Complete disgrace

    After researching if any one elses cable is damaged so early i found this and was shocked to see how many people have the same problem, I would like to know if apple are doing any thing about this as the numbers are unbelievable.

    I have only had my iphone 5 and charger for few months and its already not working i need to wiggle the wire at the plug end for it to start charging.

    We all should get a free cable as its clear its a faulty product.

    Terrible Cable

    This cable has already broken. I had to purchase additional cables which still break. They are made cheaply. Do not buy this cable. Go with a different brand that makes a much stroger cable.

    Bad Cables

    When I upgraded to the iphone 5 I knew I would need new charging cabless, so I went ahead and bought two additional cables for my office and in my car. Now, all three cables keep shorting out. It will constantly go from not charging to charging, multiple times in a matter of seconds. This is so frustrating!!! I don't want to have to keep buying new charging cables and I think I shouldn't have to. I never once had this problem with the old prong charger. Maybe it's just my chords, but they are never in a weird position and with three in the rotation, one is never used more than the other.

    iPhone 5 charger

    Exactly the same as all the other reviews, my third charger in 5 months has broken at the lightening connected end. Have now resorted too buying a cheaper one off a well known auction site, works much better and has already lasted longer than these £15 chargers.

    APPLE NEEDS TO MAKE THIS CHARGER STRONGER! THIS IS THE 9TH TIME THAT IM BUYING A NEW CHARGER! I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY CHARGER, I DONT EVEN USE IT WHILE ITS CHARGING AND IN 3 WEEKS ITS BROKEN! IM TO THE POINT WHERE I FEEL LIKE GIVING AWAY MY IPOD 5. THIS STINKS! IV NEVER HAD TO BUY SO MANY CHARGERS! EIGHTER APPLE HAS TO MAKE THE CHARGER STRONGER OR STOP MAKING THESE CHARGERS!     I have bought three cables and it keeps breaking....I have been using Apple products since many years, but am really disappointed...Apple products are losing credibility. I hate to say this since I have been using Apple products since a long time, but may be time to switch to some other company....

    DUST is the Answer !!

    I've noticed a lot of people are saying that this cable doesn't work and that they've had it replaced many times. I used to be that person.....but I have the ANSWER...

    There is NOTHING wrong with the cable - there simply is too much dust inside the port of your iOS device e.g. iPhone 5. Just use something as simple as a toothpick and take out all the accumulated dust. That's why sometimes the cable works if you "insert or push it at an angle" because of all the dust!!

    So REMOVE THE DUST from the port and hey presto !!

    This is unacceptable!

    I have owned at least 20 of the old style cables with all of our iPods, iPads, and iPhones over the years. Not one ever broke. We have had eight break in the first nine months of owning our three new iPad minis.

    I am not sure what to do. Completely unacceptable!
