    Lightning Rage!!!

    I can't believe after so many issues and complaints from Apple loyal customers, Apple continues to launch their products using this deficient accessory. I have bought several; Apple or generic; they all have the same problem and end up failing. I am replacing my iPhone 5s (which I love you) for two reasons:
    First One: THESE CABLES
    Second One: Lack of memory expansion slots like Mini SD cards that allow you to increase memory on your phone; with 16GB, if you leave your phone light enough maybe you are lucky enough as to update its operating system software every time there is a new release. Otherwise you are stuck until you free up memory.
    So I have decided to take the easier approach to ease of life; I need a phone, like the convenience of apps and the easiness and friendliness of miniusb chargers, plus I want to take pictures and music with me at a reasonable cost. I am going with HTC M8 today, and replacing my iMac with a friendly Windows hybrid laptop. Will keep an old iPad because there is some aviation software that only runs on IPad. End of the story and bad press for Apple. I am sure if Steve was still with us he wouldn't allow this to happen!!!!

    Very Reliable, not inexpensive

    I have never had an Apple provided cable fail. Not sure what is going on with the cables that are receiving one star. At one point I believed in the rating of products, but not here. Between my wife and I, we have had five iPads, six iPhone and three iPods. All cables (and chargers) still work.

    Absolute Rubbish.

    Complete waste of money. Lasted a whole 8 days !!!
    I seem to be echoing the vast majority of people on here.
    Come on Apple, this is totally unacceptable. Poor quality,inflated prices, really looks like the standards we have all come to expect are non existent.
    Not much point having a great great product like an iPhone or iPad if you can't reliably charge it !!
    Phone upgrade is due next month, time to start looking at the the other smart phones on the market.......at least their charging cables don't give up the ghost after a few days.
    You would tend to think that somebody from the company keeps an eye on the reviews the products get and do something to rectify the absolute problems when things aren't up to scratch ..... Apparently not !!!
    One star is FAR to generous.

    Appalling quality

    Having had every i phone since they came out I am used to the Chargers and leads. Until this year I had never broken a lead or had one stop working so what has changed? This year between my daughter and I we have had 8 leads that have either come apart or simply stopped working with no visible sign of damage. I'm relieved to see so many other people reporting the same as was starting to worry it was me. Add to this the fact I hate the I phone 6 (if I wanted a huge flat ugly monster of a phone I would buy a rubbish samsung or Nokia!) and the latest changes to predictive text are ridiculous I am officially unhappy .....

    Please go back to old coating

    I am tired of having to replace your chargers every other month because of the material you use to coat the wire causing the chargers to scrunch up and short circuit, or even fray. Yet you people wonder why people would rather send 5-15 bucks less or even MORE money than your brand on third party chargers. The coating used on your older chargers was good and this was one of the most pointless switches I have ever seen. My iPod charger from 2003 is still being used on my older iPhone that i use for games when connected to the house wifi. An 11 year old charger that still works because it wasn't designed to break every few months. People shell out lots of money for your macbooks and phones, yet you guys went cheaper over the years on your chargers and expect everyone to be ok with shelling out 20 bucks per charger then get mad when people look for other options. The ratings on all of your charging devices speak for themselves. THis has gotten ridiculous over the years.

    An epic fail

    I actually have to worry whether my Apple devices are charging, and that is very poor reflection on Apple and their quality control (or lack thereof). The connection simply goes bad between the male plug and the female socket. Use of these cables is an epic fail on Apple's part. I like their products, but I do not like their unwillingness to admit mistakes.

    Works fine for me

    I had a chinchilla related incident with my original cable and so purchased a new apple one. Works fine. Plug it in, my devices charge. Admittedly I have a charger at home and a charger at work and so the cable doesn't go on any adventures so maybe that is why the cable wires don't fray or whatever like the other people's. I would rather get a verified apple charger then a impostor one just in case something goes wrong. £15 is a lot cheaper than £499.

    What do I do now?

    Thanks to all these reviews; its not just us!! We have various devices: iPods, iPads and iPhones and we are down to only one charger that works now. Where do we go from here?

    iPhone charger

    114 months & 4 chargers!!! I am So sick of the iPhone 5 chargers breaking, if the end gets slightly bent or twisted they stop working!!
    I can't afford to keep paying £15 per time for a new one! Love my phone.. But Apple please sort out your chargers..!!!!
    Never had this problem with my 4!!! Very disappointed :(

    Cheap Junk!!!

    Bought the Iphone 5 after 3 months the cord broke. I have the 3rd generation Ipod (2003) and 2 cords and never had a problem with the cords and both still work. I hope you are reading these reviews, for $20 please make these cords more durable so we don't have to keep spending $20 on these cheap things.

    Great!

    I must be doing something different with my cable because it works perfectly and I have had no problems with it - and that's with daily use for 2 years! Although £15 is a little steep for a mere cable, it does the job perfectly and I couldn't ask for more!

    Never had one go bad - Apple is the best quality out there

    I only use Apple cables and have never had a cable go bad or kink on any of our multiple iPhones or iPad. If you plug in and remove them while holding the connector without grabbing the cable and yanking it out or stepping or twisting it on a daily basis it will outlast your product.

    Worst cable ever made,

    I've had my phone for 1.5 years now and I have purchased nine charging cables for my phone. After the fourth Apple charger broke I just started buying the cheap five dollar charges because I could afford to lose five dollars every month. If I could give this product a negative star rating I would. Between the charger and the operating system personally I can't wait for the Samsung galaxy six to come out because I've had it with Apple products.

    Catches Fire!!!

    Apple: Please, recall all of these and use a new vendor to manufacture these cables! We've had multiple and they all get broken at the neck - right by the lighting connector end. And yesterday I picked up one to plug in our iPad and burned my fingers! When I looked, I saw that it was smoldering!! I am so lucky. It was laying on the carpet - could have burned down our house! This is unbelievable coming from Apple.

    Cable is flimsy

    I just had to replace my original charging cable that came with my I-Phone 5, which is 1 1/2 years old. The wire broke down inside where it meets the pin that goes into the phone. For the first year, I only used the cable at home to charge. Then I purchased a power pack about six months ago to charge my phone away from home. I believe that transporting the cable in my bag probably caused the wire to bend repeatedly and over time, the wiring broke down inside. I just replaced it with the same cable because reviewers on Amazon stated that non Apple cables were less reliable. I think that it should have been made more durable due to the the nature of the use it will see. Apple products should not be so flimsy.

    Disappointed and Enraged

    I need to replace my cable every month. I barely move or bend the cables, they just stay on the table where i charge my phone. Despite my best efforts to avoid breaking them, these cables end up unusable. I am sure everyone would appreciate an effort to make cables more durable, even if it were at the expense of appearance.

    EPIC FAIL ON CABLE

    I bought an extra cable for my office and both cables broke at the head.
    Really disappointed with Apple's quality control yet prices remain high. Maybe IT'S TIME for the exodus to PC.

    Bought two of these cables in the past year and neither now work. What poor quality. Get on the ball Apple.
