    this is the worst charger by far have had to buy 5 of these in the last year its ridiculous how fast they blow out.

    I wish I could give zero star.

    The cable hardly lasted me two months and the replacement cable worn out within 4 weeks. Firstly the necks of the cable gets worn of and later the phone shows you error messages and then you need to learn a new art of finding the sweet spot where the phone charges by tilting, revolving or balancing the phone at the 'sweet spot' where you can get it to charge.few days later that wont work either and you'll have to go shell out more money for a new cable. I'm quite sure apple made a fortune just by selling the overpriced cables.

    My review in a word.. Pathetic.

    Lasted this long

    I got the charger with my iPod 5th gen and it's worked and not bunched up or tore on the outside part for up to 2-3 months of getting it all fine I didn't have problems till it bunched up the outside of the cord protecting the inside started bunching up and then it ripped open I stopped it from ripping more for a few days but it has peeled even more it still charged fine now 10 months and it's 3in peeled off was working fine with a spring and a ribbon (spring to help stop peeling and keep it from stretching and moving ribbon to make it not look ugly) then the latest iOS 8 update and the battery sucked then the update to fix the bugs didn't do anything to fix the battery dieing quicker thing (it's those new undeleteable apps I don't like most only the iBooks and iTips are good hint hint) but now the wires are showing cuz the protection under the outside doesn't go as far as the wires do and now it's so touchy it takes hours to finally charge and it even jumps around with 50% charged then 20% remaing then back again it's like the battery is having some crazy instent mood swings but now it's soooo touchy that it's too difficult to charge I had to have it upside down in midair to charge
    Tips to make a better cord
    -make it longer maybe it would last longer if ppl weren't hugging the wall
    -make the protecting braided layer go as far as the wires go
    - make the outside layer out of something that doesn't stretch, crack, rip, bunch, get gooey, or any other thing that would ruin it's lasting time
    -the part were the wires connect to each side make the part on the outside of the go an inch farther out (will help stop the bending of that spot
    At least it lasted this long much longer than my sister's and she has to use the old charger

    i would give this less then one star if i could!
    im so sick of replacing this cord in the last 3 three months ive gone threw 3 cords. the first time i put it down to me being careless and pulling on the cord and the wires came out. how ever after being more vigilant with the next two and making sure to never pull on the cord the same thing is still happening! they are so poorly made and at 15 - 25 pounds you would think the quality would be a lot better! FIX YOUR PRODUCT APPLE!

    Where did Apple pick up their QA Testers from?

    After day to day use this POS wears out right at the neck of the Lightning connector. Did you guys not spot this in test? What happened to quality? This cable is terrible and I cannot believe I have to shell out more money to buy another failure to make sure my phone gets enough charge to last me 12 hours (if I'm lucky). Hire me and I can show the test team how quality, durability and reliability should be the key factors for Apple. IM MAD!

    When will Apple finally realise that these charging cables are absolute rubbish, I have now tried the non branded cheaper cables for £2.99 and they are 100 times better.
    I will never buy another Apple cable.

    Beautiful classy looking cable but very disappointing quality. Worked for 2 weeks despite taking good care due to previous also authentic cables failing.

    On my 6th cable now?

    I've had my 5 for nearly 2 years now, and my fifth lightning cable just stopped working. The message "accessory not supported" constantly flashes across the screen and then my phone quickly dies because it cant get a charge. At first I was worried that lint or maybe sand in my pocket had damaged the charging port on my phone because I just couldn't believe that my new lightning cable could stop working so quickly. After seeing all the other reviews though, I now know that it's just bad quality.

    Not happy

    after reading most of the reviews on here I consider myself lucky... I've had my iphone 5 for just under 2 years and only had to have gone through 2 cords. It's the same problem though; after a while the top of the cord begins to get scrunched up and the phone starts to vibrate continuously because the cord is connecting and disconnecting - until it completely stops working. In saying this though I made sure I was careful with how I stored the cord so maybe that's why my two lasted so long - but still it's unacceptable. It's obvious Apple are making these cords knowing that customers will have to pay more and more money on replacing them. Don't buy Apple.

    Destroyed my ipod

    I bought the ipod touch and after less than a year both the 5 cables and the charging port were toasted.

    It's Bad

    I just broke my 3rd lightning cable. I noticed that the end that goes into the iPhone was heating up when it was charging. I unplugged it to take a closer look and the cord fell right out of the iPhone end

    I would never pay for one of this cables! They constantly break and when I take it to a Genius Bar it is 'accidental damage'?
    Terrible. Apple needs to learn!
    Lasts no more than 2 weeks without something appearing in the cable to stop it working.

    poor build, not an exciting customer experience either

    had mine replaced at the apple store after 9 months today. reached home and just realised that the replacement does not work either. this is like brand new that he opened in front of me and it doesn't work! the shop guy wont test the new replacement cable as he could not find a wall socket! and he politely showed me the way out. now i have got to go through loops to get another appointment and visit their store again for another go at it. hopefully will get something that works, this time.

    Poor Quality, But What Choice Do We Have?

    I've used Apple chargers since I purchased my first iPod Classic more than ten years ago, soon followed by purchases of iPads and iPhones, and the old 30 pin to USB charger packaged with these devices lasted for years with daily use. When the new Lightning to USB models were introduced, I liked the plug's small size and simple input. But I also noticed that the wire doesn't seem to last as long as the larger, older charger models. Recently I threw my first Lightning charger away because the charger's cable developed a tear in the rubberized coating, and wouldn't charge my iPhone or iPad. While it's nice to have a brand new and clean white cable wire, I didn't appreciate having to purchase a replacement charging wire for $29. But what choice do we have?

    An extremely bad cable.

    The quality was so awful that just one month after I got it it started breaking and after several months it completely stopped working. Then I got another and the same thing happened. I find annoying to pay $20 for such bad quality cable.

    Always breaks

    I've gone through 4 cables and it's getting annoying and it's a waste of money! I saw an adapter for the old cables that can be used for my iphone 5.

    Good design, poor engineering

    The non-directional nature of the lightning design is wonderful.

    The engineering.. however, leaves much to be desired. For some reason, these USB cable stand out as uniquely fragile among all other chords. After a month or two's use, the cable accumulates internal coiling strain. After about 3-4 months' use, half of these chords begin to break. These lightning cables do not live up to the quality that Apple stands for.

    Horrible build quality

    This cable gets damaged very easily. It will last you no more than 4-5 months at the very most. It is extremely flimsy and the area near the connector end is the part that stops working first. On my third cable (in about a year), after having been used for about 3 months, it began randomly stopping charging with the message "accessory not supported". Sometimes it would then begin to charge again, sometimes not. This became more and more frequent until today when it swapped between charging and not charging every 2 seconds for 5 minutes straight, before dying. Overall, horrible quality for the price you pay. I would not mind the quality if these were less than $10 each, but for more than $20, I expect it to last at least a year.
