    Poor quality cable that kinks, frays, and deteriorates easily

    I love all my Apple products, but this lightning to USB charger cable is an inferior quality cable and needs to be greatly improved. Taking the short iPhone battery life into consideration, these charger cables require frequent use. The thin white plastic insulation on my Apple lightning to USB cable deteriorated at the connection end within 14 months and is now rendered useless. (Not to mention, a safety hazard). I brought the cable to the Genius Bar in my city for repair but was swiftly told it had to be replaced and because it is out of the warranty period, would cost me $19. A quick Google search into this problem has indicated that this issue is common amongst Apple iPhone users. For $19, this cable should be designed to be much stronger and come with a 2 year warranty. My suggestion to Apple is to collect feedback from customers and improve this cable for the next generation iPhone release and offer a 2 year warranty. Until then, I recommend finding an Apple Certified charger cable from another approved vendor that lasts longer and costs less.

    Most ridiculous ever

    You want to charge it at $28. FIne I will pay if it works.
    It works for a few days, then start coming on and off.

    Then a few weeks, finally broke all together, two times! at middle of night! and i bought 4 already, in less than TWO freaking months!
    Apple if you think I'm going to keep spending on this junk, you're terribly wrong.

    You refund me and give me a working cable I deserve. Or i'm trading this phone back and never going to touch Apple product again.

    Shocking... Literally!!

    I'm sick-to-death of the charging issue with this phone .. I have had so many issues I'm convinced the battery has damaged my battery.

    The phone now sometimes shocks me .. Happens randomly on any charger.. But sometimes it doesn't, so the problem is not guaranteed to present itself at the apple store and they won't do jack s#!t about it and say the battery is fine .


    This happens on 7 different chargers all working fine on other devices..

    But the cable keeps bugging out on me breaking so easily or sometimes you can't even see damage and it's not working I've collected all mine hopefully can sell my story to the media. ( hopefully covers the cost of a replacement )

    Worst. Cable. Ever!

    In the time I've had my iphone 5 I've had to swap out cords AT LEAST 4-5 times. This is absolutely ridiculous! I've also had to swap out my iphone 5 3 times. I've been loyal to apple in their phones for the first several years. LOVED my 3GS. If I didn't have so much invested in apple already inbetween iTunes music, movies and tv shows I'd be heading to buy the new windows phone.

    Disgusting-Low Quality, Exorbitant Prices, Pathetic Attitude-GET A GRIP!

    These cables are the representation of a mentality that is a despicable aspect of humanity.
    GREED.
    They cut costs as much as reasonably possible at the expense of quality.
    These manufacturer's savings are not passed on the the consumer.
    The price of this simple, essential, and cheap piece of hardware costs the consumer more than it would to buy a 32GB Flash Drive.
    That is utterly ridiculous.
    The nerve.

    Apple, you should be ashamed.

    Terrible

    I have had this phone for over a year and I'm about to purchase my seventh lightening cord. Terrible product, not worth the $20 dollars to replace over and over again. Called Apple for assistance and was told that since my warranty ran out I would have to go out and buy another charger and that the problem was not the USB cord. After reading reviews I have discovered this is a truly terrible product. I have always loved Apple, but after the wasted money and rude support I will not be buying any more products. Lower price or improve product! Attempting to find alternative lightening cable in hopes this will last until i'm done with this phone.

    horrible

    Cheaply made cable. Had the first one for a year before having to buy another one. This one lasted 4 months. I'm not looking to spend $20 on something that is going to last 4 months (not even quite 4 months).

    Absolutely Terrible Quality and Time Consuming to Replace

    Upon reading the rest of these reviews I realize that I have not even endured the worst of it. I just bought my first iPhone in October and I cannot believe that my charger doesn't work all of the sudden. I can't believe we all spent this much money on an iPhone just to get such a terrible charger that is not only expensive to replace but just utterly reliable altogether. I have tried to call Apple Care and Apple Support at least 5 times just to try and receive a new charger since my phone is still under warranty and the amount of trouble I have gone through just to attempt to retrieve a new one is unbelievable. This product is not worth any of the time and trouble I have gone through.

    Truly the worst cable ever designed by humans

    I love you Apple but your Lightning to USB Cable makes me want to cry. How is it possible that nobody in Apple can see truly how bad this cable is? Look at all the bad reviews everywhere!

    please please pelase improve your USB cable. i bought it so many times. at least every 2 months i have to buy the new one.the wire easy to loose. STOP WASTING OUR MONEY!!!!!!!

    Cable Breaks at end

    On my third cable.... first cables broke at the pin end where the wire meets the connector. It appears they just snapped inside. I never had this issue with the cable for my iPhone 4. Not sure what happened to the quality here.....

    No stars

    Between 3 contracts all on IPhone 5 and 5s for different members of the family, I think we have gone through 9 in total, to creat such a masterpiece then spoiling the whole thing with a sub standard lead is disgraceful. Steve Job would be sheathing. How the standards are falling. Why should you have to make appoints, waste fuel money and parking fees to change a lead. What a joke. I wish I could give this no stars.poor poor quality

    Waste of Money

    What a headache! My cable broke down and stopped working within weeks of buying my ipad. Now using one cable for two devices. Sort this problem out, Apple!!!

    RIDICULOUS!

    DO NOT BUY THESE CABLES! I've gone through 4 of these cables already. TRASH product. It works for a month or two and then quits. Ironic how Apple released a software update for iPhones so they'll exclusively charge with "certified" cables. GET IT TOGETHER APPLE!

    Poor quality

    The original cable that came with my new Ipad mini broke after a few weeks. It would only charge when you held it in an awkward position and the ipad couldn't recognise it. I took it to the apple store where I was treated like a criminal with a member of staff even screaming in my face that he was "99.9% sure it was a counterfeit cable" he then took it to his manager who confirmed that it was an original cable. The cable was then replaced and now the plastic covering the lead is beginning to bubble up and melt. I have heard that this can cause the lead to catch fire and I am now constantly worried when charging my device. This lead is poor quality and cheaply made. I would not recommend apple products with this cable to anyone!

    "Apple's worst product?"...

    ... as described by Businessweek, this is the worst, shoddily made piece of cable I have ever used. I bought my iphone 5 short over a year now and so far, I've gone thru 5 cables (Apple original product: 1 included, 1 bought, 2 replacements and 1 currently in use) all broke next to the tip. They can be under warranty and replaced for free, but I dont have the time (or simply dont want) to go to the Apple store every time my charger breaks. As far I know, these are not disposable cables. I'd give it 0 stars if possible.

    I agree with everyone else.. very low quality...

    My charger is going to break, I can see the rubber bubbling up right beneath where the wire meets the connector. I know multiple people that I work with or I am friends with who had to buy new chargers. I compared it to the old charger... The old charger is very sturdy, especially in the area where the wire meets the connector.. I am not sure who made the choice to make it flimsy and poor but that is very bad business. Look at the rating of this charger!! Not because its new and different but because it is made out of paper!! We all deserve free, more durable cables.

    Step Your Game Up with the USB cables!!!

    I've always loved the iPhone ever since owning my first three years ago the iPhone 4S. Never had a problem with the phone or the USB cable. Now I have the 5S, but the USB cable is very poor quality. It hasn't even been a year and the cable has stopped charging my phone! I've questioned what I did to "damage" this product and arrived to nothing. Basically it stopped working by itself it broke itself. Very disappointed, Apple took one step forward and two steps back with this product. Now I have to waste my money buying another one. To think that the 30-pin USB cable could last me for years and then this cable completely stops charging my phone! Makes no sense. Please go back and correct your mistakes.
