    Trash

The wire is complete trash! I have already re placed my wire 3 times in the lat 6 months. It starts to curl up slowly then the insides brakes. Also the rubber just splits open. They really need to change the wire completely or just make it thicker. Stop being cheap and add more rubber!

    THESE THUNDERBOLTS ARE EXTREMELY CHEAP!

I upgraded my phone in early spring this year to the iphone5. I wasn't thrilled that I had to buy all new chargers again but hey I can understand because it was time for an update. I invested in 3 charges (work, home, car) so I would have one every where I go! Each charger has horribly falling apart! From the cord is breaking up into small pieces! Now Ive seen this with one charger in a long period of time but all 3 at the same time? Apple needs to correct this issue!

Low quality cable for an awful price.

When I first purchased my iphone 5 from a Sprint retailer, the phone came with a lightning cable. it worked fine for about less than 8 months then it stopped working because some electrical wires were severed from within. Before that, the outer rubber liner was wearing off and exposing the very thin metal braided wrapping and eventually the wires severed, rendering the cable inoperable. Knowing that I cannot find a genuine Apple lightning cable, I went to purchase an aftermarket lightning cable identical to the one I had. I bought 4 of them for a cheap price of $12. They all stopped working in less than a month. $19.00 for this cable is very unfair price, knowing the quality of this cable is extremely inferior. $1.00 for this cable is very reasonable price. Expect to buy at least 10 of these cables a year. My brother's original apple 30 pin cable is still working fine since 2006.

    Waste of money

I expected a much better product when buying from apple but the same problem always occurs, the same wire always comes loose and the phone wont charge. I wouldn't give this product a star rating if i didn't have to.

Is there any need for a title?? same as everyone elses reviews!

Had the iPhone 5 3 weeks and already the charger has broke, is it just me or does the charge not last long at all compared to the iPhone 4??? Apple seriously need to sort it out or I think they will lose alot of customers due to this!

    Lightning charger

I got the ipad mini for my son for Christmas. he has been complaining its not charging properly he had to move it around to certain angles for about two months. And today he started crying saying his ipad won't charge. It's really upset him. APPLE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS NOW !!

Fit for purpose? I doubt it!

Well, like many others, I have been forced to buy another lightning cable because of the poor design of the one supplied. The battery life on my iPhone 5 is not good, so the phone spends a fair amount of time on charge.

After six months, the cable ceased to work properly - problem at the end of the cable as it enters the lightning connector. Same as most other people who have left reviews!

When I begrudgingly purchased another cable at a cost of £15 today at an Apple store I was told that the store was getting about 9 cases a day of this and that they had been instructed to say that this was "accidental damage" and therefore not covered for free replacement!

The only advice they could give me was to "disconnect it by holding the plastic connector rather than the lead itself". Well that's what I do anyway, so no help at all really.

Seems to me that this is a bit like them selling you a raincoat and saying if it leaks, you shouldn't have worn it in the rain. In addition, I've now bought a second, cheap lead on ebay simply for charging purposes. Synchronisation will probably still need the Apple lead.

    Poor design Apple!

    Rubbish rubbish rubbish

Apple this is the worst product to come from you in years, ridiculous, i have been through 6 or 7 of these cables, including 3rd party ones and they all fail, never had that many problems with the old style connector and cable, consider going back to it

One star is generous it should be zero

    Great Product

This is a great product. Works continuously fine for me and love the dual side charging.

For people that keep buying new cords, as long as your product is under warranty you can exchange for a new one as long as it is naturally defective.

    Useless and weak

Everyone's said it, and I completely agree. After a few months, the end bit with the 8-pin adapter starts to bend, then it only works at specific angles, then it wont charge from a computer, then it just stops working. For a company like apple to produce something that seems like it's made by a toddler. It needs to be far more robust, I've had many cables with other phones and even iPods and none have been this weak. Needs sorting out, with free replacements, and it certainly isn't fair to charge everyone £15 for something that costs more like 15p to make judging by the quality.

    WORST CHARGER EVER MADE

My family has 5 different Apple products that use the new lightening cable and after only 4 months, we are down to one. Each one has split, broken or just stopped working. We have bought several replacements and each break within weeks. They bend too easily and the heads pop off the cord too easily. You would think with a 500 dollar phone they would make something with better quality, built to last as long as the phone. Never had this problem with the old chargers. They need to upgrade or at least offer free trade ins with the broken chargers. Unfortunately, I am off, once again, to the Apple store to shell out another 20 dollars on these awful chargers.

    TERRIBLE!!

3 cables are bad already in a few months. Bought off brand and taped the cord at the connector to make it stiff. So far so good. However, I will continue to send back the bad cables and get replacements. Poor quality. I would expect better from Apple.

    Don't like the cables

Poor quality. Phone is less then a year old and the cable is broke. Apple should do something about this. I would give zero stars if it was allowed.

    Faulty chargers!!!

Okay I am saying the same as everybody else I know, but its true!!!! I have iPhone 5, got through 2 cables as they just stop working! Just bought ipad mini and the cable that comes with it died within weeks, phone chargers work slowly and don't register as charging!!!! At wits end need new high powered charger for ipad and no idea what to do!!! Pay or go cheap? As will need another one anyway!!!

Apple please take note - we are not clumsy, it's your cables burning out!!!! Do something now!!!! Or replace genuine cables as standard as there is a design fault !

    Dangerous.

The original cord shocked me because it fell apart at the end. Being an electrician its nothing new to me but out of a consumer product that kids can get their hands on it made me a wee bit enraged. I deal with wire daily and i dont understand why apple uses such junk. Its not that hard apple! Listen to your loyal people!

    terrible quality

I had one that I got with the phone and it broke within 6 months, then I bought another one and it lasted only 3 months before it broke. The cord gets all bent out of shape and stops charging the phone.

    Junk

Greatly disappointed that my new lightning cable has stopped working and left me stranded with a dead phone. Did anyone do testing on this piece of Junk? Where's my refund!

    Disgusting

When I use this cable to charge my phone, I have to use an extension cable just to use my phone. Also, when on charge the cable causes my phone to electrocute me. Furthermore, the casing of the cable has split constantly and I am using insulating tape so I am not electrocuted by the bare wire. It's a joke, and down right outrageous that it is £15 to buy a replacement. You don't buy a £500 phone to be given a cable that has broken after less tan 1 years usage. I'm praying that the same doesn't happen to my Macbook cable as they look similar in design.

Definitely not built to last! Send it back!

I think the lightning cable charges incredibly fast but is very poorly made. My cable for my Ipad 4 Retina worked for 7 months then broke, just like all the others reported. I'd have sent mine back but it later burst totally as a result of someone standing on it. If you continue to return these to Apple, then they will have to do something about it. Don't keep buying them - KEEP RETURNING THEM.

    REDICULOUS!!

I have had 16 of these chargers, since i got the phone in oct 2013. it all of a sudden stops working. i even resorted to using the cheap ones from grainger games who kindly exchange if its faulty yet recently they all seemed to be sold out! because they are all rubbish! and clearly everyone is having to buy them again and again and again!!!!!!!!
