    Useless...

Doesn't support video, main reason why I bought it so we could watch movies from my iPad on our tv. We already have a iPad to hdmi adaptor, but this will not work with it!!!!!

It Works well with my AT&T car charger

This adapter work very well with my AT&T car charger that I bought with my first iPhone 3G. The Charger has an area for the UBS port but that took forever to charge, like snail-mail. So I bought the adapter an the re-charging is lightning fast. I haven't used it with my Scull Candy speakers. I also have a case on my iPhone5 and found no difficulties. You just need to make sure the area where the adapter inserts is clear to accept the device completely.

Does exactly what I want to

After having read negative reviews, regarding this product, I was a bit dubious about getting one, but the guy in the shop convinced me it would work as I wanted it to.

I plugged it into the 30pin lead on my car stereo & lo & behold my sound system plays the music from my iPhone 5 & charges it, just like it did with my iPhone 4. Happy days

As per the fitting while the phone is in a case, fortunately my phone cover is open at the bottom so the jack plug, charging port & speaker holes are exposed. This in turn means this adaptor fits snugly even while the phone is in the protective cover. I can understand that this product wouldn't fit if the protective cover was an all over one.

    Disappointed

I just got the iPhone 5 and I have a 30 pin cable in my bimmer. Thing cost me 150$ to install with the original sound system, so I came to the decision of just buying the adapter and using my phone to play music and hand down my iPod but to my surprise the adapter does NOT even play the audio. Charges my phone but doesn't play anything the only reason I bought this was for music from my phone. I was basically ripped off to charge my phone in the car when i could use the wall outlet charger almost anywhere! very disappointed apple very disappointed!

    Doesn't Fit

This adapter will not work if you have any case where the lightning section is smaller than the 30 pin adapter length, if the bottom of your case is open you'll be ok but it's rare to have that in any case. The pin section won't fit up against your phone and therefore won't work. You're stuck with using the cable, taking your phone in/out of the case or not using your old 30 pin accessories anymore. Bad design!

    works but expensive

I have the 5th gen ipod touch, and I bought one of these so I could connect it to my existing ipod dock. I had to make a few modifications to the ipod dock, but it works. I do have to take the cover off to use it, but I am pretty satisfied.
However, this product is ridiculously expensive. I want a few more, but at $35 each I can't afford them. Apple needs to stop being greedy and charging us crazy amounts just because they're the only ones who can sell them.

Happy with the product, upset at the price

GARBAGE - Does NOT work on my IHome Radio/Clock + Case issues

I purchased this to dock my iphone5 to my Ihome Radio/Clock (Model #iH5B) while at work. Does NOT CHARGE or PLAY MUSIC through my radio / clock. Waste of money. Also, I have an Otterbox communter and this DOES NOT FIT the case. I had to take a dremmel and shave some of the hard plastic off the case it order for it to fit... Now I have a "Modified" case where the dust cover wont close, and a useless adapter. Definitley returning this

    It works!!!!

Use a slim cover, i.e., RingkeSlim.! I'm sure there's other brand out there. You got to be creative & resourceful. Buy this adapter, a bit more expensive but they work. You can buy knock offs but you will have problem with them.

    Adapter Works Great

I read some of the reviews on this and am surprised since I too have a cover on my iPhone 5 and have no problem with using this adapter.Works perfectly!!
Must depend on your phone cover.

    Ended up in the trash

Did not use it once. My iPhone has a case. It will not work with a case. You have to take the case out of the phone. I am not willing to do that. I tried to "fix" it by cutting it into shape. Just threw it in the trash. I only had it for 24 hours. Stupid Apple engineers. I cannot believe they're so short sighted. Wasted money.

    wouldn't buy ever again.

It worked at first, but the little part that connects to your iphone broke off and was stuck. I got it out evenutally, but I would rather just buy a new charger to not have that problem!

    Help !

After reading some of the reviews, about this product. I bought two, (very cheaply from ebay!) however when I plugged in iphone 5 nothing happened, ebay sent another, incase it was faulty, but it still didn't work. So I have just purchased a new speaker docking station which is for ipads, iphones and ipods, but still no music comes from the docking station ? (trying all 3 adapters) I'm wondering why it works for some and not others ? Have resorted to the standard 3.5mm jack cable, but would be nice to use the docking station as is intended. Pls Help !!

    Works Perfectly

Mainly needed this for audio in the car and docking station, does the job for both so I'm very pleased with my purchase....I imagine some of the negative reviews stem fro, people buying cheaper versions on other sites, which only support charging NOT audio!

Works perfectly. but the price is too high.

I purchased the adapter in order to use my new nano with my Bose system and in my car. The adapter works perfectly with both system. Using it with my nano in my car, a 2010 Acura RDX it woks without any problems, However, the price is very high. Considering the price of an Ipod or Iphone it would be nice if Apple included the adapter with the new devices.

    Okay.

Borrowed one off my sister for the time being, not a fan of the size due to ipod dock fitting. If I have my ipod on the adapter while it's sitting on the ipod dock, it'll lean back which in time will damage the adapter and possibly the ipod itself. So, for future projects. I suggest you make it smaller so it can sit properly and close to the dock or other devices.

Also, my speakers are from Kmart (Aus) and it works fine with the adapter.

Maybe I'll just go buy one of those mp3 to mp3 type of cable and use that instead for the time being.

Does Not Work The Way Your Sales Team Said It Would

My original ipod went kaput. We struggled to come up with money to buy a new one and weren't sure we were going to since the new nano has the lightening pin. We feared having to buy all new accessories since my old ipod was set up with a dock at our Mac, another doc at our stereo which also had an aux cable hooked into our stereo and our tv and I had an fm transmitter/charger that allowed me to listen on the car stereo as well. Your sales team assured us that the 30 pin adapter would work with everything so we would not have to spend more than the $30 for the adapter. Guess what? IT DOESN'T WORK WITH ANYTHING. I can no longer listen to my ipod in the car. I can no longer listen to it on the stereo. I can no longer watch tv shows with it on my tv. All it will allow me to do is charge the ipod in the old dock. This was a total waste of money and time. And it just makes me miss my old ipod since this one is only good for listening with earphones. Big whoop.

    Doesn't fit with case

I tried this with both a iPod 5th generation and my iPhone 5. The iPhone has a proper case, adn the iPod has a thin plastic case. In both cases, the converter was useless. I bought it to try and allow my daugther to use here iHome clock with her iPod 5th gen. Didn't work. This was a waste of $30.

Works perfectly in 2010 WV Sportwagen...

Just upgraded to an iPhone 5 and added this adapter to the phone end of my Cable Jive MDI extension (30 pin) in the car and it works perfectly. All interface options work perfectly, steering wheel and radio buttons work great. The only draw back is that I need to remove my case to allow the Lightning plug to plug in to the iPhone 5 hence the 4 stars and not 5.

    Disappointed with this product.

Purchased this adaptor as part of my phone upgrade from a Iphone 3gs to the Iphone 5 for the purpose of continuing to utilise the dock of a Grundig DGR710DABIP digital radio we have. Unfortunately it doesn't work as we had expected as no audio is outputted with this adaptor.
