    Rubbish, expensive piece of plastic

Just does not work with any of my 3 devices. My radio alarm, speaker dock and car all do not play music through it. The clock radio will charge the phone but the other two won`t.

Come on its an apple product. It should work out of the box.

Shameful, price and a shameful product, its this sort of things that give apple and its customers a bad name.

    Awesome product!

I bought this for my iphone 5c. I have all the accessories for the iphone 4. The item is smaller then I expected but I actually like that more. It fits snugly. It works with the cords I have, and with my logitech speakers. It's secure on the speakers so I do not have to worry about it falling out. The sound quality is great, I do not notice any difference. The best part is it works with my otterbox defender case. I do not have to take the case off like many other reviewers have said. I am very satisfied with this product. I would definately recommend it.

Doesn't work with Apple's own case

    Which is pretty lame.

Flimsy and doesn't connect when iphone case on

Bought this to use to connect iphone 5c to my cable in my car so music could be played. The lightning part wouldn't connect to my phone until I'd removed the case. This is ridiculous given my case is designed to fit closely to my phone to protect it and it is a faff to keep removing it and putting it back on. Not only is this an inconvenience, but the device is very flimsy and I am concerned it could break easily. I think apple needs a rethink on this product - £25 for this is ridiculous!

Not sure why, but it doesn't charge consistently...

I still have my iPhone 4s and love it. But last year I bought the 128GB iPad 4th Gen... I have the charger that came with it. But other lightening chargers don't seem to work. So, I bought the adapter to use my 30-pin chargers if ever in a pinch. I have gone through a few of these... ultimately it worked great when I first bought it. But over time, if I try to charge my iPad 4th gen, it won't charge! For data purposes it works great! But charging... nope. Oh well... should've bought an additional charger. I must admit, I bought 2 chargers on ebay. Not "apple" and they are the same, won't charge but for data purposes they work. I haven't bought anything else from the apple store; worry I'll waste more money... what to do? what to do?????

    30pin adapter

I brought to use with my Bose player, since it was recommended to me and I was told it would work with my iPhone 5. No such luck. Plays the music, but not very loud and does not charge the phone. Unfortunately I had already thrown the receipt away.

Important to know, DON'T GO CHEAP!

This is my third adapter but first one by Apple. DO NO BUY THE CHEAPER ONE! They may or may not work with docking stations. With Apple one, make sure the surface on the docking station is flat ( many are rounded) so it connects properly. If not, it will charge but you can't get audio. For my Bose and Sony docking station, it works great! Also connects to RCA cable adapter for older Bose Radio.

    Disappointed

First off, this adapter didn't work with our Bose docking station. Neither did a separate adapter we bought which also had a connection to the mini jack on the iphone. However, it charged my phone which I was happy enough with as I was able to keep an iphone 4 charger with this adapter in work, and the lightning cable at home (because God knows you won't get more than a half day of battery life out of the iphone 5). However, after about a month the charging function of the adapter stopped working as well. Absolutely disappointed and very unhappy with this product. It's not worth buying it.

    Not up to Apple standard

Why oh why was this not designed to work with the Apple protection case? £25 to break my nails removing the case to use the adapter, this is not good enough Apple. If you start to slip on design why should we stay with you and your products?

    works great!

This works great with my iPhone case, on my car charger, and electric wall plug in chargers. Works best on authentic Apple brand chargers. My only complaint is that I think it is overpriced.

Does nobody test the products before being sold?

I have and the Apple brand iPhone case and this thing doesn't work with it! Does nobody test to see if their product are compatible?

    Third broken adapter

I have bought and managed to break three lightning to 30 pin adapters. The lightening pin plug has come loose from the housing and plugging it back in does not reconnect. I am very cautious with all things electronic but feel that after $90 for three of these things i am at a loss and ready to give up on apple all together. What happened to this company anyway? And don't get me started on the "new" iTunes.

What was a great idea has been poorly executed.

This is not fit for purpose.
I bought it to fit onto my old cables so that I could use with my iPad mini retina and I Phone 5S.
As you can imagine, I had expected it to work with a genuine Apple case attached to the iPad - but it is too broad to fit into the charging socket!

As I also value my I phone as a first class navigational tool too both when fell walking or cycling, I sensibly protect it. My chosen case is the Lifeproof Frè and again this will not fit! In this instance I use the standard new cable, but would have liked the option of converting old cables too. Given the cost, it is probably cheaper to buy one of the new charger/data cables, but that isn't the point. This must have been a Friday afternoon idea!

Ideally apple will design and sell an adaptor that has the 30pin adapter, a short cable attached to that and the new lightening connector on the end ( if you look at the SD card adapter, like that but with the 30pin bit on the other end). As a BMW driver I practice safe driving by connecting my iphone to Media/phone via the BMW iphone cable such an adapter could be used to continue using the existing 4s cable I have. As there isn't one I have forked out for the 5s version, this won't fit through the case, unless trimmed with a Stanley knife. The product design above would work a treat!

    no good for car

Have a built in Ipod connection in my Audi which obviously works fine with 30 pin but after purchasing a new Nano I needed an adaptor. Didn't think to look but, the lightning connector point is no longer central and no I cannot plug my system in the car. Apple need to stop frigging around with everything after manufacturers are being asked to consider the environment and here we are with another plug needed for a new design.

    Rip Off

Apple are a becoming a bunch of complacent idiots who think they can mess customers around. We have all spent serious money on sound systems and docking stations and the design people can't even come up with a decent adapter that works!!!

Wake up Apple because Samsung don't s*it on customers in this fashion. You will lose custom and eventually realise that attention to detail is very important.

I bet the customer relations section of APPLE never read these reviews.

I have been a customer from day one and spent thousands on your products. NOT ANY MORE.

You need to wake up and smell the roses and consider the people you have screwed over with your poorly designed adapters.

In the process of changing all my products IPAD, I PHONES ETC to SAMSUNG - Good Bye I Tunes you will not be missed.

    Another Customer.

Doesnt work for video - how stupid is this, Apple?

Wish I'd checked the reviews before spending $30 for this adapter but I assumed Apple adapters would work with Apple products. What a silly assumption apparently! Bought this specifically to connect my iPad Air and iPhone 5 to my TV via a 30-pin AV cable (Apple of course) which i've used to connect my previous iPads and iPhones to my TV. All i can get is audio - no video. Not very entertaining to watch a blank TV screen while listening to my downloaded movies and TV shows. Thanks Apple!

    Works fine for me

I have had the iPhone 5, now have the 5s and have used this adapter on both phones. I have the Otterbox Defender case and the adapter works just fine with the case on the phone. No need to remove the case to charge the phone.
Not really a big fan of adapters due to the extra connection requirement as that can and sometimes does lead to some problems...the more connections, the more problems one may encounter. Would be better to just use an extra charging/sync cable...and it would be cheaper too, by about $10-$20, depending on length of cable used. And there's little or not problem of using a charging/sync cable with most protective covers being left on the phone to charge.
Each individual situation has its own 'problems' and a little 'common sense' will work them out. All one has to do is use it (common sense).

    Very Good

People giving this one star are obviously un-educated. Many are giving one star because it won't fit a case or cover. In reality Apple can't just extend the lightning cable end like that. So first get your facts straight and realize that you are wrong. Third party cords will be the same. And matters on each case you have. So check yourself as well.

    Works great

Although it was a pain to have to buy the adapter in the first place when I bought my new Ipod nano 7th generation, it works great. It connects to all of my 30bit devices with no sound difficulties. I use it for my Hyundai Ipod adapter in my car and my IHome. No complaints.
