    Returning! Waste of Money!

As the title suggests, I am returning this product. I have a slim fit Speck case, and it doesn't work at all with it on it. I'm incredibly disappointed as it would have been nice to be able to use the speaker dock gift my brother got me for the holiday with my phone. Had I realized that I would have so much trouble with finding adaptable products for the new iPhone, I would have gotten the older version. I am floored that Apple would create a new product with such a poorly designed adapter. What a disappointment.

    works perfectly, stop complaining

This product works exactly as it says it will. It allows for 30pin connections to be used with a lightning iDevice.

Please stop complaining that it doesn't do the following - It's not meant to!

No, it doesn't support video, you need new adaptors for that

It is not designed to be plugging into docks, it's designed for cables to be plugged into it

It's not designed to be used with a case on your phone, but a case is YOUR choice, not Apple's, so is designed perfectly to be used with your iphone.
(admittedly Apple could have got it better for use with Nano's)

Lightning connector is reversible, so can not be back to front, try turning your phone round if you have this problem of not being able to see your screen with it plugged in!

    Ripoff

    No video support!
In the presentation of the iPhone 5, no one mentioned that the adapter was not supporting video. So i bought it and found out that it can not support video.

not work with Apple 30-pin Digital AV Adapter

It's supposed to be work with most Apple Genuine product.
    No it's doesn't.
I connect to Apple 30-pin Digital AV Adapter which I bought for iPhone 4S,"Apple does not support this product" shown on iPhone 5 Screen and can't connect to TV via HDMI Cable.
When I went to apple store and chat with their employees, they suggest me to buy new iPhone5 Lightning Digital AV Adapter for $59.
It's only work when you charge with old 30-pin cable to iPhone 5.
Why apple did not clearly indicate their adapter will not work on all of their own product?

Only works with device facing backwards. Doesn't allow charging.

My stepmother and I both have the same problem with this. She has an iPhone 4s and I have a 7th-generation iPod nano. With two different adapters and two different Bose docking systems, we each can only reliably get this to work with our devices facing backwards! Occasionally, if we're lucky, it will work for a while with the device facing forward. It's weird, because I thought the great thing about the lightning adapter was that it was symmetrical. For the price, I'd hoped this would work right.

Further, the Bose docking station will not charge our devices using this adapter. Geez, Apple! Whatever happened to "it just works"?

    Useless

Like what was mentioned in the earlier reviews here, it won't work with any type of Iphone case. Also the worst part is, it has compatibility issues with my JBL Onbeat Xtreme and Harman Kardon Go+Play II. So now, the only way for me to play them is through Aux cable or bluetooth.... I wasted money here......

    iPhone 5 connector

I bought the Lighting to 30 pin Adapter from my Apple Store after buying 2 other connectors via Amazon. Although both of the Amazon supplied connectors support battery charging neither would enable me to connect to to the 30 pin connector and play audio into the car system. The Apple connector worked first time.

So although the other connectors were individually cheaper I paid more in total than the one Apple connector. My guess is that the Apple connector contains the necessary circuitry whereas the cheaper versions do not. Whatever the reason I wish that I had bought the Apple connector first. It does what it says it does.

    Too over priced.

Okay so, I was hoping that these would be around the $20 mark, when I saw that it was $50, I almost had a fit, these things are no less than $10 to make and charging people an extra $40 is just a rip off, I mean, c'mon apple, you need to lower the price of these products, all it is, is an adapter, not an iPhone. I mean, you's are almost a trillion dollar company, and I can see where all your money is coming from. People who desperately need these things have to fork out all this money and all they are getting is a little adapter, I mean, they aren't that exciting.

    Over priced

Way over priced and doesn't fit the iphone with most phone covers. Completely annoying that you have to pay extra for this connecter, it should be packed in with the device.

    Stinks!

I am on my 3rd one. Can't hear audio thru it and still won't work with my Griffing adaptors. Hate it

    Pick up your game apple

This adapter has compatibility issues with 75% of our speaker docks round the house. That is to say it works with only one of our 4 speaker docks. Have not yet tried the 2 alpine head units in our 2 vehicles, won't hold my breath.

This adapter was for use with a latest gen itouch.

Come on apple if your going to make an adapter, make it compatible with all devices it plugs in to, not just 25% of them!!! If someone develops an adapter that makes all your 30 pin connections work, that will SELL! Come on you electronics wizards out there, get cracking, your market awaits you.

Won't work with Belkin TuneBase FM for my car

I wanted a new Ipod because my old one was out of space. I also play the Ipod quite a bit in my car. As with people who are not wealthy, my cars are older and are not equiped with any electronic docking ports or bluetooth enabled speakers. I use a Belkin unit that plugs into a cigarette lighter or port for charging. I set it to an open FM channel and it plays great. I got the 30 pin adapter to play on this unit because I guess the need for Job security means things that work must always be changed. This adapter will not work. It barely works with the portable unit with speakers. It will eventually. This is a lame unit and does not deliver as promised.

    Doesn't work in 2006 Mazda 6

I had hoped that I could still use my iPhone 5 with the 30-pin cable in the stereo of my 2006 Mazda 6. Alas, it would neither charge nor play music through the car stereo like it should. Waste of time and money.

Buy the cheap ones off ebay!!

These adapters do not work with any sort of case on your iphone 5.
The genius's who are making the rip offs on ebay have thought about that
and have made the lightning bit stick out a tiny bit more allowing it to work
on Iphone 5's with covers! Also its only 8 dollars!

pin is not long enough to fit on the phone if you have a cover!

great concept but doesn't work if you have a cover (harder styled cover). The length of the lightning pin, is too stubby and short. Waste of money for me, the whole idea is to protect my phone AND have the adapter. The longer cable accessory works as the lightning pin is longer - you'll know what I mean when you try it. Very frustrating.

    No Video Out!

I bought this product after being told that it would support component video out, if the cable was an apple certified one, by a local rep. I have an Apple component cable attached to the tv in my car, so needless to say it IS certified. The adapter is very short an will not be usable as is if you have any sort of case on it. It DOES charge, sync, and provide audio out. It DOES NOT have video out support. There is currently no viable COMPONENT video out solution for the lighting port devices. I am very disappointed.

does NOT support audio on my iHome and must remove iPhone cover

This does NOT permit transmission of my iTunes music through my iHome clock/radio/iPhone connector, which I was able to do with my old iPhone. I have one iHome at home and one at the office, so this is very disappointing.

All I can use this adapter for on the iHome is recharging--and then, only if I am very careful to position it to ensure a connection--it easily slips out of position. The cover I bought does not have a large enough opening to accommodate the larger part of this adapter. For this limited functionality, you are better off using the (cheaper) cord connector, which doesn't require removal of the cover.

A seller of these adapters at an airport store told me that there were issues with audio, contrary to what was touted by Apple on this site. I decided to wait and go to an Apple store to be sure I bought a genuine Apple adapter, in the hope that the audio worked as claimed. But the genuine adapter I bought does not work. Maybe it works with some accessories but not others.
