It's perfect, but couldn't they have made it a liiiittle bit longer. 20 Cm is barely a cable !

    Waste of money

This adapter is a complete WASTE OF MONEY!
As soon as I plugged it in to my iPhone 5s the phone displayed a message saying "This accessory is not supported by this device". The 30pin end of the cable wasn't even plugged in to anything, so it was an error message for just the cable!
The cable does not allow audio playback with any of my stereos, all it allows is them to charge the phone. I could of spent less then $10 for a cheap cable from eBay for that!

    doesn't work!!!

I really do know what the apple doing, Apple made three different size of the lightning adapter! the lightning to 30-pin adapter is the biggest size, it totally did not support my Powersupport bumper!

The worst is that This accessory is not supported by this device on my iphone 5 (IOS 7.0.4) and iPad AIR (IOS 7.0.4)!!

New iPhone 5s does not support this accessory

I purchased a new iPhone 5s today and also purchased this cable so I could charge the new iPhone with the cables from my iPhone 4. It does not work at all and only produces a message that "Device does not support this accessory. I connected it to my MacBook Pro with a 30 pin USB cable that I purchased only a few weeks ago at an Apple Store and the MacBook did not recognize that anything was connected to it. Unclear is the problem is the cable or the iPhone. Running iOS7.04.

Worked only for a short time

I've had this cable for a year now, And quit playing audio about 4 months after I bought it. All it can do is charge my phone/ipad. Also $39 is way too much. Don't waste your time and money with this product.

Perfect and as a (DAC) excellent value

It's not widely understood that Apple lightening adapters also contain a DAC - DIGITAL ANALOGUE CONVERTER. The device entirely responsible for converting the 1/O digital stream into an sound we humans can understand. Ounce that sinks in you realise that these little units are really excellent value for money. Value is something other reviewers have slammed, thinking they are nothing more than an adapter or in this case 30 pin socket, cable and lightening plug.

I bought mine from an Apple store last month to connect my iPhone 5 to my Mercedes. It works very well, allowing me to access all of my music and it displays the artwork on the car system. But here's the shocker. The sound quality is frankly amazing, great tight base and clear vocals I've never heard the car stereo system sound better. . . A real upgrade to my cars HIFI and the best £35 I've ever spent!

    Doesn't work with iPad Air

Apple said it was compatible with the iPad Air, but plugging it in gives a message "Not Compatible with this device" It is larger than the connecters that came with the iPad. Very disappointed! The 30 pin adapter also will not fit with the case on. Some product co-ordination needed here.

    Works as expected

Adapter cable works well, charging and audio as expected using iphone 5s. Also it does fit fine with 5s leather case on. Only negative is the price, but got mine £10 cheaper from high street catalogue store.

I had to doctor a v. expensive phone cover to make this work!!

I'm not happy. I had to cut into a very expensive phone case to make a bigger slot just so that the lightning end of this adapter would fully fit into the phone. (It seemed pointless to have to take my cover off every time i wanted to plug it into my Bose system and this cover does have a standard sized slot.) You see, for some reason, they decided to make the plastic end THICKER than the normal lightning to USB cable that comes shipped with the phones. WHY???

And why is a simple cable so expensive?

Its gets a star because it works...

    Too Short Too Expensive

Purchased to adapt my iPhone sound system because of the new Lightning plug but the ridiculously short cable length means there is nowhere to put the phone. If the cable length had been longer so the phone could be placed on a flat surface or table it would have been fine but this solution isn't at all helpful very short sighted:) An example of over expensive and under thought out apple accessories and £35 pounds for a tiny cable is far too costly.

    Doesn't work with Infiniti Nav

When connecting my iPhone 5S to my 2008 G35 30-pin adapter, the phone continuously connects and disconnects. It seems to work okay with Apple 30-pin products.

    Waste of time and unacceptable

Spent 40 minutes in the Apple store today battling the crowds to get service on what adapter to buy. Ended up with this product and now on my way to return it. I wish I would have read these comments before going as it doesn't work for all the same reasons as stated by the many comments below, won't fit with a case, isn't compatible with BOSE sound dock etc etc. For such a "World Class" organization, I can't believe Apple is still selling this product.

    Expensive, but it works

I bought this to connect my iPhone 5S to a USA Spec PA15-HON2 iPod/iPhone interface for my 2007 Honda Odyssey. The other Lightning to 30-pin adapter did not fit my iPhone case, but this cable works great, and all features I expected work correctly (audio, charging and steering wheel controls). Construction quality look to be top-notch, with a secure connection on both ends. While I don't mind paying extra for quality, the current price is still too high (thus, minus one star). Still, probably the only option available if you need to connect older devices to your Lightning device...

I am sick and tired of all the cheap china knock-offs.. i decided to buy the 30pin to lightning adapter as i have tons of old 30pin cables lying around they all work like a charm..

gives me the flexibility and i don't understand why people buy the OEMS and spend time plugging and unplugging and praying the cable works!!

just get the REAL thing and it will work seamlessly. FYI my original cable has held up well those cheap china ones have already gave way someway or the other.

YES its not cheap but you sleep peacefully knowing your cable will ALWAYS work!!

    Works perfectly - overpriced

We are using this with an iPad mini to get the analog audio line-out as well as charging it at the same time. We already had a 30-pin breakout cable.
It works perfectly. No issues at all.

Not sure why it needs to cost $30, or why other manufacturers can't make a similar product, but it's the only one I've been able to find that has a female 30-pin connector on a cable.

Doesn't work with Bose music system

This product did not work with my Bose docking system. It also didn't connect to the iPhone when it is in its case. If I could I would give it 0 stars.

    It doesn't work!

It doesn't work with any of my accessories... Card reader, vga, hdmi... Wasted my money on something that has no apparent use if all these are not compatible.

Doesn't fit with just about any case and intermittent performance

Lightening connector is fatter than lightning charger and as a result cannot connect when case us fitted. Have tried 3 cases doesn't fit with any. The bottom edge if the phone needs to be completely uncovered for this to fit. Also a bit hit and miss when used to connect to my audio cable in the car find myself having to unplug and reinsert. Not very impressive and £35!! Standards are slipping at apple. Doesn't look like they think usability through like they used to, ios 7 now this, it's sad.

Worked as expected, but pricey even for Apple

I bought this because I have a $400 Sony speaker dock that I love cause it has really good sound quality, but has a 30 pin dock connector that can't be swapped out with a lightning connector (thanks Sony). So rather than spend $300-$400 on a new dock, I figured I'd get this cable. To my surprise despite what people said on here I was able to control my iPhone (play, pause, next song, previous song, menu navigation) with my speaker dock remote which is great. The cable was a little shorter than I expected but works well. I didn't get the 29.99 adapter because I didn't want my iPhone's lightning port being stressed as it was standing on top of the dock and adapter and risk the lightning tip being snapped off in the port. So overall a great product, but over priced.
