Worthless overpriced non-functioning piece of garbage

Sometimes I love apple products. Other times I am so frustrated with them that I feel compelled to write a review of them. I bought my adapter about five months ago from an unnamed box store. It worked fine until last night. The video simply stopped. I've tried three different hdmi cables, two different televisions, and three different devices. Every single one of them are audio only to the TV. I've heard the argument that apple is more form over function, most of the time I oppose that argument with the 8 year old laptop that I own that's still going strong. But in this case a little piece of cable wrapped in plastic that's $49.00 retail is just not worth the money. Moreover, it's a piece of hardware that doesn't carry a warrantee by any store or seller. I'm completely disappointed and frustrated with this device because I've never dropped it, mistreated it, or even handled it roughly and it simply stopped functioning as advertised. I'm a firm believer in the old saying you get what you pay for, in this case the effort put into making this product correctly does not come close to the effort I put in to earning the money to pay for it. In the exchange of value for value I got the short end of the deal. Don't waste your time with this product, the lowest bidder built it and it's being sold at a premium price.

IPad 2 air hdmi adaptor used to mirror netflix

I purchased the iPad 2 air HDMI adapter cable and had no problems. Worked for few weeks. Then just stopped. Ended up buying two more that did not work either so returned them. Didn't give up on original adapter used to mirror Netflix from iPad to TV. Just shut iPad completely down by pushing on off switch on top. Then hook up adaptor. Do this whenever it will not mirror. Has worked for me every time!

    Works well for slideshow presentations

I use this adapter to hook into A/V projectors for presentations if they have HDMI. So far, I've had luck with Epson projectors. It works well with Keynote. Important note: this adapter does not charge the device. There is an additional slot to hook up the lightning charge cable so you can present and charge at the same time.

    Good enough but quite overpriced

It works well, smooth transitions, and goes well with the iPad. I am not sure if it would be the same story for iPhones and iPods but I have tried it on an iPad Air and iPad mini 3 and it works on our TV. Now we are able to watch YouTube and present our content on a large-screened TV. My only gripe about it is its price. For something that does the job, it is good although the price may turn you off. The good thing is that it comes with a one year warranty and since the product is produced by the OEM, Apple, there's less worries on compatibility and safety.

Does not work after iOS 8.1.3 update

I purchased this product prior to the update and it worked pretty well. The picture wasn't amazing but it was clear and it mirrored my iPad perfectly. Sometimes my iPad would not register the adapter or it would be slow. But, I was okay with all of that until my adapter stopped working completely with the new update. Now all I get is a black screen if I plug the adapter in. I would not recommend this product until Apple comes out with an update to fix this bug.

Horrible, Terrible, Pointless, Waste of Money.

I was reasonably excited when I saw this product available, but wasn't quite sure about the price. So far most VGA-USB cables or similar adapters will all run around the $35-60 range. I bought this expecting to be able to play games and watch movies on my larger screen, without having to use a console to do so.

This cable is finicky. Not all TV's support the adapter.

After plugging this adapter into my three TV's, working on NONE of them (only showing a purple screen, the TV's are no older than 4 years) I finally went to my neighbors and tried on their two TV's. This adapter worked on one Samsung 55" HD TV, but only after plugging it in/unplugging it several times, restarting the phone twice and turning the TV on/off. Even then if the phone changed angles AT ALL, the signal would cut out and not come back.

Either I received a dud, or we all have. I'm furious right now, as this is not the first product I've bought through Apple that was overpriced and DID NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED OR EXPECTED. I wasn't able to play iPhone games on my large TV, watch movies or browse the web.

I have bought several "duds" over the past five years, including two Classic iPods, two iPhones and now this adapter. I am now seriously considering leaving all Apple products behind and investing in other companies.

    Does the Job

I bought the smallest lead in the world solely for streaming Netflix and Amazon prime on a larger screen, It does this to a very high standard.
Both are full screen and the HD quality is very good.
I took a star off as at £40, its extremely expensive!

Worked for a couple of times

Same as many worked great a couple of times and then just stopped - not sure if it's a hardware problem or most recent iOS update. What' the story Apple ? your rep's going down the gurgles. ... Just saying

    Wow! Just the ticket!

I have long been looking for a way (not too expensive) to broadcast what was on my iPod Touch 5th gen. to a t.v. Tried Chromecast which worked but did not mirror everything on my iPod. Then, I discovered this little product. Plugged it into my iPod and my HDMI socket on my TV. It work very well indeed. The movie quality (mp4) and sound quality was everything I wanted it to be.

Mirrors whatever is on my iPod. I am very well pleased indeed. Thank you Apple!

    Lightning to HDMI --- AWESOME

I love it. Works great! I took it with me to Europe so I could watch movies during down times and it worked perfect there. I was streaming in and enjoying it. Been using mine on my Mini for about 1 1/2 years now and no issues! Well worth the money if you're looking for something like this.

    Laggy video output

Both the HDMI and VGA lightning video adapters introduce lag to video output that wasn't present with the 30 pin adapters. Because of this my old iPad3 is better for running VJAY (audio-visual performance app) than a brand new iPad Air 2. Disappointed that Apple, a company that used to be the standard for creative types, is pushing a standard like lightning adapters that can't perform well enough for artistic applications.

    Just pure awesomeness!

Speaking for the iphone 5s and up to the 6+. This adapter is pure magic. You can so far play anything your iphone throws at you through your HD tv!
Netflix? Yes, clash of clans? You got it! Rented or owned movies, tv series..... Walking dead? Of course! All in glorious HD full screen! So far i'm glad i made the purchase. A little overpriced but good quality.
See i wanted to get the apple TV but my xbox one can do most of the stuff apple tv throws at you. This adapter will make your dilemas easier between buying a Apple TV or not.
So far i haven't had any issues described by the other reviews. I've had this miracle of a portal for over a year and still using it to the fullest.

Same situation with 30 pin adaptor

Had to trim plastic down to fit my case, but overall it's a similar experience to the Lightning to 30 pin adaptor.

    Disappointed in extreme

I project through VGA connection via iPad or iPhone, and I get a full screen size from my OHP on full zoom.
I project exactly the same item using lightning converter to HDMI and I get a nice picture, but half the size.
It seems from the posts here that that is that. Such a shame.
    But if anyone can help?

Works Well With iPhone 6 Plus

Saw an article in Yahoo about this adapter, bought one and tried it out on my mother-in-law's 60" Samsung TV. A little pricey ($49 + tax) but worked great. Was nice for iTunes, photos & videos with sound. Her eyesight isn't very good (she's 94) so this was much better than when we would show her stuff on an iPad. Will be getting these for my kids for Xmas as they have iPhones and iPads.

It's a weste of money, I used it only five times and it stopped working. I took it back because I thought it was a malfunctioning product . Came home and tried to use the new one and same things. Apple should refund for selling such an expensive product and does not work.
