Thunderbolt is fast but it is a terrible connection

Thunderbolt too easily loses connections from external peripherals like external HDDs and card readers. I use thunderbolt to transfer 4k video from my cameras SSD to a thunderbolt drive and it regularly disconnects at the slightest movement. Not acceptable for a purported professional connection. Sure the speeds are great, but no point of you have to have 3 goes at transferring some data because the cable dislodges.

    Worth the extra money

I originally bought a cheaper thunderbolt cable from a different vendor, thinking I would save a few bucks. After a month or so, my thunderbolt drive would randomly eject itself, and the cable connectors would get hot. After about a week of this, it got to the point that I could not get my thunderbolt drive to even mount anymore. I went to the local apple store and purchased one of their cables, and the difference in quality is apparent. The Apple brand cable is easily over twice as thick as the other cable, making it look like a spaghetti noodle. I've been using the apple cable since, about 3-4 months with no problems. Well worth the money.

    works, but pricey

works as it should. I don't know how long for, but she works currently. Didn't really have an option when it came to thunderbolt cables, so had to fork out for this one. When I opened the box and looked at it I thought wow, this cable cost $35, whhyyy?
Ah well here's hoping the price of the cable and peripherals will come down in the future.

    Works as expected

I had to replace a ThunderBolt cable that I got with my Lacie 1TB drive because one of the connectors kept getting so hot that one day it caused the drive to shutdown completely.
This new Apple cable seems to run much cooler than the old one. Lets hope it stays that way.

    OK for daisy-chaining

Unless you're looking for a cable to daisy-chain your drives/peripherals, go for the longer cable. I bought this to connect my G-tech thunderbolt drive but its way too short and the drive is not sitting under my iMac. Now going to buy the 2.0m version! P.s. You have to wonder at the price of these?!
