    Fixed my range problem...

I purchased this hoping it would cure my Wi-Fi access problem in the backyard. It worked!! The location of my outdoor audio equipment that I connect my iPad to is in a "Wi-Fi weak" corner. I was getting one or two signal bars on my iPad with the Airport Base Station. Now i'm getting 4 to 5 bars consistently. I was going to use the Airport Base Station as an extension, but there's no need as I have even better Wi-Fi signal coverage through out the house.

I haven't tried the Time Machine backup app yet, but I'm sure it will exceed my expectations.

    Great product

As all Apple products, this one is excellent. It's lightning fast due to the latest 802.11 ac speed. I've got an IPad Air and a MacBook Air both with ac and I can tell the difference. I had a Linksys EA2700 before which was a good product too, but didn't have the range or speed. The 2TB storage is also an excellent feature to back up the 3 Macs we have in the house.

    A must have

What can I say. This device delivers - not surprised - I have recently become an Apple convert.

Left the windows world behind - for good.

Everything Apple designs is done with the user in mind.

This device is no different. Set up was easy and backing up my computer is no longer a thought - it's automatic and flawless.

    Excellent range & speed

I thought about upgrading my VirginMedia advanced wifi hub (100MB+ line) to this, when I finally did, I wish I had done it earlier! The range & speed on this device for my MacBook Retina, MacBook Air, iPads etc is amazing.

    Brilliant Product

Replaced an earlier model which needed 2 Airport Expresses to extend the signal. With the new device I do not need the Expresses as the Time Machine covers a much, much bigger area with it's signal. Set up was very easy.

Also bought a Extreme for the house with the same result. Apple always do things well and I would advise that it is always worth taking out AppleCare. The devices are normally covered if your Mac is under Apple Care. These warranties and support agreements are worth every penny.

Sold the old systems on eBay which almost paid for one of the new routers.

    Best money spent

I wanted to have an automated backup system for both my Mac and my brother's Mac. And I also wanted something that will help our internet as we are going to have our internet re-done in my home. I needed something to handle a lot of devices and this will do the trick. I absolutely love Apple and their products. I hear a lot of people say, "Once you go Mac, you never go back," and I absolutely DO NOT want to go back to Microsoft. It would be nice if Microsoft had something like this, oh wait, they probably don't have the power to make one since all their products catch viruses.

    Didn't work

I received the 2TB Airport Time capsule for a Christmas gift. Setup was very easy, but it would not read an external hard drive. I tried three different hard drives, the unit would not detect them. When I left the range of the wifi with my iPhone or iPad, I could not reconnect without restarting the Airport. I was very disappointed with the unit. I had it for four days and had to restart it over ten times.

    Very good router/backup solution

It is fast, reliable and takes up only a very small small space.

I use an app called Time Machine Backup Scheduler from the Mac App Store to schedule daily backups over WIFI. It backs up my system every single night while I and my computer sleeps without any hassle.

It is very good value and I can connect an external drive to backup the backup disk for double protection. Sweet!

I always worried that if someone breaks into my apartment and steal my laptop they would take my attached backup drive. It is very unlikely that someone would take my router.

    Router ok-Backup doesn't work

Since purchase in July, I have been unable to back up the "time machine" aspect as it will shut down my computer and restart with a significant error message. Have sent these to Apple without a response/fix. Have posted on tech boards without response/fix. Thought that I was making my life easier, but id doesn't work as a back up. Router works fine, so it is a very expensive router. This is from an Apple only person-extremely disappointed with this and Apple's support.

Great router, cosmetically my wife approves

I bought this to extend my network. FiOS router was in the basement and my wife was complaining about slow internet and her iPad2 dropping signal all of the time.

I plugged in the router to the data port in a upstairs bedroom. Make sure to choose 'create network' using the same SSID, security settings, and password. It's fast. I knew it was going to be better but was surprised on the difference it made. I set up Time Machine on my MBP. It all worked seamlessly with very little set up.

Bonus: This is cosmetically the best looking router. My wife approves and it almost could pass as some sort of white vase or canister. Now I don't have to hide in some cabinet.

    Airport Time capsule 2Tb

Another excellent Apple product, I needed a seamless back up solution and fix to months of wireless woes. 10 minutes after unpacking it I was up and running and performing my initial back up from my new iMac.
It also solved my wi fi problems, neighbouring wi fi routers were making air space very limited and I frequently had annoying drop out with problems reconnecting, now I have a 5 Ghz multi channel connection which is very quick and very reliable.
The Time Capsule looks uber cool and runs silently, just as well as it is in the bedroom just a few feet away from my head on the bed side units!
An excellent and very worthwhile purchase!

Very Disappointed since I am a huge Apple fan

I was very excited and to make this purchase. I thought that this would be another perfect purchase to add to my Apple world here at home.
I brought it home, hooked it up, set it all up, and I was excited to see how quick and easy that process was. I would say I was up and running within 20 minutes.
I went into my family room and turned on the TV. Turned on my Apple TV and rented a movie. Too my surprise I saw major streaming issues. I thought maybe I had forgotten a step in the process, so I set it up one more time. Returned to the TV and again the streaming was less than par. I thought maybe my service provider was having an issue, but when I re-set up my old router (NetGear R6300) once again. Went to the TV room and started to watch the movie, it was perfect. I then concluded that Apple is good with the devices, but maybe needs work in the networking arena. I now have the most expensive paper weight I have ever purchased.

Apple do yourself a favor, do not develop the Microsoft mentality, rush it to market and fix it later. There is a reason I switched from that world to yours.

Perfect in Every Way!! Can't Say Enough!!!!

I could honestly go on and on about this product. My internet provider had given me a wireless gateway which was supposed to be a wireless N router with all the latest features, and it was horrible - slow speeds, poor wireless signal, and constant problems with things like Air Play. So, I went back to using a four year old Time Capsule which drastically improved speeds and instantly solved the Air Play problems. Then, I decided to purchase a new Time Capsule. The positive experiences began with the physical look and design of the unit and continued from there. This Time Capsule literally doubled my internet speed, now actually giving me the speed I'm paying for - yes even wirelessly. Wi-Fi range has been improved to be even more impressive - even without any 802.11 AC devices on my network. Back-ups with Time Machine are fabulous also. I did an initial back-up of almost 400 GB in around six hours - wirelessly! Yesterday we were streaming a TV show on Apple TV while my daughter streamed a show on her iPad. At the same time, we were performing an initial wireless back-up and streaming music via Air Play in another room, and everything worked perfectly. I would have been confident to make a FaceTime call or anything else on top of that too. Now obviously as you can tell, we have a very fast internet connection - over 100 MBPS, but still we never realized those speeds over Wi-Fi until getting this new Time Capsule. This and the Airport Extreme are the only routers I ever recommend to people. I exchanged my internet provider's gateway for a non-Wi-Fi device and I couldn't be happier! Love it!:)

    Outstanding Product

I live in a building that has a lot of disturbance. Upgrading to this router solved the issues of spotty service that I was having with a Netgear router. Configuration was performed using my Phone 5S. My pings are now consistent and never get any timeouts. Love it!

I'd like to like it but..

Instead of what I guess I've grown accustom to with Apple products just 'working' upon plug in, this unit was not the case. As someone that's installed many routers, setup dozens of networks, and am pretty well versed with computers, I expected setting up this device to be a breeze. My old Linksys router is shot, so I splurged $300 on this unit to contribute to my growing Apple monopoly. So far, its been somewhat of a disaster. After hours of phone calls to Apple and my ISP, I still do not have it setup. I ended up plugging my old router back in and just settled for its lagging speeds. Occasionally I will plug in the ethernet line to time capsule, only to get a blinking orange light that states I do not have an ISP address. If every other router (I tried a generic B router as well) can detect this, why can't Time Capsule? I do no know. Apple has told me I need to contact my ISP, as the issue is on their end, but its not, if I am able to plug my computer in via ethernet or use other routers. I'll give it a few days, if not, I guess I'll be returning this unit. I really had high expectations :-(

Great Router, Love the Extra Features.

I actually purchased both an Airport Express, and the Airport time Capsule, and couldn't be happier. I put the Express down stairs and the Time Capsule in my room to extend the Wi-fi network upstairs. It has worked flawlessly so far, and the speed upstairs is a big plus. Time Machine works great on my new Macbook Pro, but the biggest selling point for me was the USB port on the back of the Time Capsule. I reformated an old WD 1 Tb drive I had for my old PC and plugged it into the back of the Time Capsule. I love being able to upload files from my two Macs or my Moms PC to the drive over my Wi-fi network, It's like my households own personal Cloud. Would highly recomnmend to anyone on the market. Thumbs up Apple.

    Great Product But Some Limitations

I bought this because the reviews suggested the range was good. In fact, the range is slightly lower than my BT Hub 3. I connect this to my BT Hub 3 and then have a Range Extender so that I can receive a reasonable wifi signal in my garden office.

I've then plugged an external 2TB hard drive into the Airport for shared data storage across my various iMacs, MacBooks and iOS devices.

I can't get the iOS devices to work with it, but to be fair I haven't spent much time working it out. The OSX devices (Mavericks) work fine most of the time.

First point to note is that the signal strength (without the extender) is about the same as it was on the BT Hub 3, but less reliable. It fluctuates all the time where at least the Hub 3 was stable. The 5Ghz connection drops all the time.

From in the house, everything works fine. It's only when the Wifi extender is used that I get issues.

Time Machine backups from my iMac and 2 MacBooks happen without me realising now.

Back to Mac (for remote access when not on the new local LAN) works but is incredibly slow and often I can see the Airport, click on the external HD but then nothing happens... Research on the forums suggest that as Airport doesn't support updp it will be slow... Haven't found a resolution yet...

Using the external drive for shared storage is working well but is a little slow. I'm thinking of investing in a better external HD as the Hitachi I have is quite old and slow (there's a slight delay when every I try to connect whilst the HD fires itself into life). Also, if the wifi signal isn't great, accessing the files is very slow.

I often have to reboot the Airport as sometimes I can see it from my Mac but when I click on the external HD no files are displayed. Power off, 10 second wait, power back on seems to make it re-appear.

I've now decided to try and bypass the extended wifi network and will run Cat5 from the Airport, out the house wall and along the garden fence to my office. I'll then put a local wifi router in the office and see if that helps overcome some of the niggles.

Summary - great product, works out of the box, but there are some niggles which I think may be down to my physical wifi setup. I'll update once I've tried with the Cat5.

    Don't BUY this product.

I love Apple products but I had to come to check the review to see if I was the only one with problems. I'm tired of having my backup fail to run because it is inaccessible. Even the Airport Utility can't find it at time and I need to constatly reboot it. It doesn't matter if it's ping-able or it's wifi is on, it's own Airport Utility can't find it and the Time Machine backup utilities fails.

It boggles my mind that they have yet to get an update to fix this after over a year that this product has been out.

Amazing range and speed increase over old Airport X

I purchased the 3TB version ahead of purchasing my new Mac Pro this month. I wasn't expecting such a range and speed boost as I'm still only using the "n" technology in my devices. The third story of my home was always a slow connection and was an issue with streaming TV content through my Apple TV. Now I get full strength and over 20 Meg's per second instead of 3-4. Great Job Jony and team ID!
