Flimsy. New one required every few months.

These cords fall apart like nothing I have ever seen. I have had my iPhone for about a year and am constantly having to buy a new one. And then last night my iPhone started making that horrible noise which suggests the charge is coming in/out. I'm about to go travelling and am looking at taking AT LEAST two cords with me in the expectation that they will fall apart. The fact I should have to do this is ridiculous.

    Serious Disappointment

Although previous chargers made by Apple have served over long periods of time, these new versions have only lasted, to their longest extent, (I'm now on my 3rd charger) about 4 months. Apple seriously needs to address this problem soon, or it will just not be worth my money to keep buying these new phones.

    Putting me off iPhones

I have been through 3 of these chargers in 1 year, now i need a 4th. As the charger starts to play up, when inserted into the phone, it stops and starts charging and the only way it works is if put in a certain position or on a particular surface. It does this until it stops charging all together. I'm seriously considering a different phone next because I have never had to purchase another charger for any other mobile i've used in the past.

    Short Lifespan

I've owned this cable for less than a year, and it is no longer working properly. The wiring inside has become damaged/frayed despite proper care. Definitely the worst Apple product I have ever owned.

    Break too much!

I have had this phone for 5 months now and I have now gone through 12 of these cables. I love that you can plug it in either way, but the cable just likes to stop charging my phone and the phone states "cable incompatible" and I have purchased each one of these cables at a retail store in apple packaging, so I know they are not knock offs! Very disappointed. Wish apple would just start giving them away so I don't have to waste any more money with them...If this continues, im going to have to switch to a droid...

    worst cable ever!

I have purchased two of these things, and they are currently being held together by scotch tape. The ends of these cables fray and break down. Once they split they start exposing the wire, ive had this issue with the 30 pin but it took years. Ive experienced it with these in as little as a month. Very terrible quality and very cheaply made!

    compact but not great...

yeah they're compact and great to eye!! but that's all they're good for...to look at.
I've had my iPhone5 7 months, my original cable stopped working after 6 months.
I look after my things with respect and definitely not heavy handed with any of my technical devices.
I tried a few cheaper cables on the market and every time they popped up with the 'not supported' notification. So, I brought another original iPhone cable 2weeks ago for £15.
so far so good. but i'm not relying on it to last too long... my partner has only had his iPhone 5S since late October 2013 were now 23rd January 2014 (3months approx.) and his original cable has gone This morning, it wont connect/charge nothing. Apple, there is something wrong with design of these cables.

oh, and we've cleaned the plug in area on our phones too...very much care has to be taken when doing this, we used cotton buds/q-tips. didn't help resolve the issues.

weve had iphone 3s and 4s, pods 3s and 4s.... those charging/synincing cables are fine and hardy and still work today no replacements have EVER been made.

Not worthy of the Apple name

Apple needs to step up and get these made to a more reliable manufacturing standard.
Attention to detail is where Apple usually shines.. In this case they do not.

    Seriously?

My 30pin charger for the iPhone 4 lasted me for the entire 2 years that I had the phone with no problems whatsoever! This supposedly improved charger broke within the first 6 months of having the phone so, I replaced it. 6 months later, this one has broken as well and I find myself purchasing a third charger! This is an unacceptable level of product quality apple, sort it out!

    Drawing too much power

I have two Iphone lightning cables that are roughly one year old and they both will not connect to my 'Imac'! Every time i connect my Iphone using the cables it comes up with a notification saying that it is drawing too much power and disconnects it, what is even more frustrating is that i am using the most recent model of the Imac. I have read around and i think the best option is to buy a new cable, more money gone.....

Where are you all talking about? I've got my one about 13 months and didn't have any problems. With 30-pin thing was bad but this new is awesome.

I bought iphone 5 in September 2012 day of release the charger I got with my iphone still works perfectly and have had no faults. it is all down to the care of the product. my charger stays next to my bed forever gets plugged in every night and like I said I have had no problems what so ever. the battery does need looking at though.

    Low quality

Very disappointed with this product. Am on my second cable in less than six months. I really have loved any apple product I have owned and have paid the extra money versus lower end brands for a computer , laptops, iPods and iPhones. This particular accessory has been very disappointing as it is not up to the usual apple standards

    Waste of money

Don't waste your money on Apple products. I can't even count how many chargers I've gone through in less than a year as they keeping breaking every few months. This is really disappointing. If you can't even play on your device just because the company produces some flimsy pieces of wire and calls it a charger then you might as well switch to being a customer of another company. Pretty sure there are others out there who provide better products that will keep you satisfied. I'll be switching over soon if Apple doesn't keep its game up.

Apple's Lightning cable is TERRIBLE build quality - very disappointing

I'm really disappointed by Apple's Lightning charging system:- I've just had to give up on my 1-year-old iPhone because the charging stopped working properly (I had to jam things against the charger to make it sit at an angle in order to work) - I've tried endless new chargers, and they all have the same problem. I've also had a similar problem with my new iPad Air - which has the same Lightning fitting - sometimes the charger connection doesn't work properly and has to be jammed at an angle.
This really is terrible build quality, and very disappointing for Apple when we're paying such a fortune for the products and the chargers.

    HORRIBLE

I have had my iPhone 5s Since November. It is now early January. I Have went through 7 Lightning cables. They're really lousy quality. I will not be buying another apple iPhone or iPod until this issue if fixed. The cables aren't cheap. Nor was the iPhone. The leased you can get after paying over $700 for a device is quality accessories.
