Don't like it/ Want my leather one back

I have had every iPad made and always got the leather simple smart screen cover. looked classy and held up well.

Since they don't make the leather cover for the air2 I had to buy the black plastic one instead. looks cheep and like the other reviewers said broke apart by the magnet. $39 for a cover that cost apple $2.

Apple, bring back the leather top cover please as I won't buy and more of your current covers.

Apple Air Smart Cover - Rip Off

My Apple Air iPad smart cover that I bought when buying the device fell apart along the line of the magnet after 18 months. Because of travel I was forced to buy another. If I hadn't been desperate and in a rush I wouldn't have bought it. This product is the least quality Apple product I have ever bought and I have plenty of their products. £40 for a piece of cheap coloured plastic. Apple really needs to re-think this pricing policy as it starts to position Apple as grabbing wherever they can from their loyal customers.

    Very disappointed, totally dissatisfied.

I bought the iPad Air Smart Cover with my iPad Air 2 nine months ago. Now it is falling apart. The vinyl is splitting near the magnet that attaches to the iPad. This is not the level of quality and durability I have experienced with Apple products.

I have an iPad 3 with a leather Smart Cover. It is an outstanding, high quality product. I used it for years, and a family member is still using it. It still performs as new.

Please bring back the metal hinges and the quality leather to the Smart Cover.

    Unsatisfactory

What a shame! I have always used the apple smart cover for my old iPad - it was the first iPad with the very first cover. Why on earth did you have to change it?? The old cover had 4 folds and fitted much better! With only three folds it's extremely wobbly and unsturdy

    Critics go home

A nice stand, not the easiest to use as you need to make sure the magnets are properly attached otherwise the stand will unroll. Have apple customers gone to demand so much more then they did before? The stand does what it's supposed to it wasn't made for you to hit the top half of the iPad with your fist. It wasn't made for you to be careless. The stand stays upright on soft and hard surfaces. The new design allows he iPad to slope back further so the iPad is more balanced. The magnets are now covered with a fabric so the iPad doesn't get scratched. The black colour isn't actually black as it is labeled, it's dark gull grey about 2 shades lighter then black. Nothing wrong with the new colour I actually think it fits the space grey iPad better then before. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT ITS DARK GULL GREY NOT BLACK. If it looks black to you then get your eyes checked ( or upgrade your device as it cannot display shades, only primary colours ).

The new design is amazing I love it I would recommend to anyone that's willing to spend an extra 3 seconds making sure the stand is properly secured.

    Buy a 3rd party cover

Black is not black. Medium grey outside, light grey inside. Why don't they make a black cover? Why do they sell it as black when it clearly isn't? Why do the images on the site make it look black? Why does the label no the box say "Black"? This is false and misleading marketing of a grey product.

Poor design when closed the middle folds "tent" up and cover slides back, with no pressure applied so does not sit flat.

Poor design when used as a stand as keeps unrolling at slightest touch. Not a stable stand.

Poor design when folded to back as volume and off button obscured by cover so they are hard to press. You have to peel the cover back to get at them.

$49 for something that should ship free with the device if they want to make it that cheap and shoddy. This item is not fit for purpose and should be removed from the store. Probably breaches several Australian deceptive sales practices laws.

    too flimsy and unstable

It's way too easy for the magnet to break away from the iPad and fall off. The only place it will work as a stand is on a flat, hard surface like a table. Won't stand on carpet, a bed, grass, etc.

    not the best

I bought this cover because I wanted a cover that was not covering the buttons or the front sides of my Ipad it does the job there looks and feels great very slim as well but this cover does not really protect your ipad Its always going to be at risk of damage from one side as it does not protect both font and back at the same time

its only a front OR back cover depending on how you place it on

Seems good, not sure why so many bad reviews

This cover isn't as sturdy as my husband's original iPad cover, but the air is lighter and not as heavy when propping it up on the folded cover. From my use so far it seems totally fine. I like the yellow, too- very light on the outside, inside is a brighter color. Nice contrast.

Great if looking for screen protection only.

Love this cover. The magnets hold the iPad in place without slipping as compared to earlier versions. Propping the iPad is secure also compared to earlier versions that slipped. I like to read books propped in the horizontal position on tables while eating and this device works well for this purpose.

Concept is slick, but Smart Cover is a FAIL!

When I bought this cover, it I didn't realize it's only 1/2 a case, so the protection is minimal at best. Then factor in the cover easily shifts and breaks away because all that is holding it in place is a thin side magnet, the whole purpose of having it for added protection seems counter-intutive.

Aside from lacking protection, this cover also does not have the added benefit of making the iPad comfortable to hold in one's hands. All the exposed cold hard slippery metal of the iPad (especially in the dead of winter) takes away from the otherwise awesome user experience of the device.

Will be returning and getting a full case that offers functionality as a stand, security/protection…. plus a bit of coziness!

    Awful

I used to have the 4 panel case with my old IPad 3 and it was great. I never had a problem with propping up the iPad without collapsing.

This new 3 panel cover is a step back and makes propping up my iPad Air frustrating, as it's always collapsing.

Who signed off on this junk cover?

Please bring back the 4 panel cover, so I don't have to go with a 3rd party one.

    What a waste of money

Cant believe Apple would sell a great Ipad and then sell a piece of junk to cover it. Big mistake if you buy this.

Falling apart less than a year

Purchased the ipad air Smart Cover black when I purchased my ipad air Black Friday last year. I had it shipped so it did not arrive immediately. I have used been using the ipad with the cover almost daily. I am truly disappointed in the quality.
Where the hinge attaches to the tablet the seam started to separate a few months ago and has continued to increase in length. The spot where I tend to lift the cover up with my thumb to wake the device has also started showing the white interior. The magnet is quite strong. The cover for my ipad 1 the original is still in excellent condition.
My husband purchased me an Apple ipad air smart case in leather from Costco to replace the one that is falling apart and the camera hole does not even line up. I can' take pictures with it.

    Poor quality

I had the Cover for the iPad four and liked it very much. It was made in four sections and was quite robust. This is a cheap piece of plastic only divided in three sections. You can't fold it in half when reading. It's joined by a thin piece of plastic. The three sections do not interlock as well as the four and so the iPad often slips. Not up to Apple standards.

    Grey NOT Black!

I dislike that it is grey not solid black.

I had a black leather cover on my 3rd gen iPad, but since Apple dropped leather covers for new iPads (Air and Air 2), I got a Black Polyurethane.

I know there is a leather case, but it adds bulk and thickness to the thinnest and lightest 9.7" iPad. The finishing of Apple leather cases/covers is better than polyurethane ones.

The cover is lighter than the previous one after they replaced the metal hinge with one of the same material as the cover itself, and of course being polyurethane not leather.

Also, the iPad now stands at a better angle for landscape viewing when the case is wrapped, useful when watching movies or making calls.

    Love this cover!

Designed by Apple - what more need I say? Fits beautifully on my iPad Air 2. Hardly adds any bulk to the iPad. Love the magnetic hinge that almost magically adheres to the iPad. Strong enough to stay in place even with a slight nudge applied, but yet easy enough to rip off the iPad should I want to hold the iPad naked. I bought this primarily to add grip to my iPad when carrying it around - the naked iPad is too slippery and was afraid that it'll slip out of my hands one day. Also love it that the cover converts to a stand for easy typing on the iPad. The inside of the cover is made with a felt-like material which doubles as a screen wipe. In fact, I noticed that my iPad screen is now a lot "cleaner" with this cover on. That's because when carrying the iPad around, the cover kinds of gently wipes on the screen, cleaning it.

Overall, a very well-designed, well-balanced product. The only gripe I have is that it's too expensive! Wished it was cheaper, but absolutely no regrets getting it!
