    Less is definitely More.

Received my smart case ordered on 28th. December at 8.50 am on 30th. December. Perfect smooth snap in fit, felt immediately right. This is an immaculately made case. The leather has a very nice 'pick up' texture, the rigid cardboard box it came in was 1.4cm thick, so you can easily deduce the case is only about 1cm thick with the Air2 in it, you will love it.

    Can't Live Without It!

Oh my goodness! I absolutely love this case! It fits perfectly on my new iPad air 2 and I love the color. All the buttons are still easily seen and can be pushed. The case can be put into many different useful positions. It also wakes up the iPad when you open it, and then puts it to sleep when you close it. I like how the case covers both sides of the iPad ensuring it won't break. Though some may think it is a bit pricey, I think it's worth it since I trust it will protect the iPad. Worth every penny.

The case is perfect. When I close it the iPad locks. It is very soft and fits great.

I was initially sold the original iPad Air case with my iPad Air 2. This was at a local retailer and not an Apple store, and that retailer happily refunded my money when I explained what happened. On being given a second chance to choose a case, I did some research and was a bit nervous about the iPad Air 2 case after reading reviews here and elsewhere. Complaints about this case not matching Apple's overall level of quality were alarming, so I considered alternatives. After a bit of research, and after finding nothing else suitable to my needs, I ordered the iPad Air 2 case and I'm throughly impressed with it.

    - The fitment is great. For something made of natural materials, you expect a little bit of variance to the fit. Not so with this case. Each opening is perfectly sized and aligned. Most impressively, the holes for the speakers at the bottom are so precise, you only see the holes of the iPad. No metal shows. Compare this to perhaps the other most popular leather case, TwelveSouth's BookBook, and I think you'll see just how much further the Apple product goes in terms of fitment.
    - The flap closes completely and securely. Others have complained about the case being too deep leaving the magnets with nothing to hold onto. I experienced this when I had an iPad Air case on my iPad for a brief while, but not with the correctly fitting iPad Air 2 case.
    - The leather feels incredibly good. It's nicer than the upholstery in my car.
    - The size is about as diminutive as you could expect from a case that completely covers the iPad. It fits perfectly in my bag's iPad pocket (a Killspencer Briefcase 2.0 if you're wondering). It's anything but bulky.
    - One complaint: while the hinges in the cover produce a stable and secure design, the way the cover folds for typing mode isn't really conducive to typing on uneven surfaces such as a lap. The old iPad 2 Smart Cover folded nicely for this use case, but was less stable in other positions.

Overall a fantastic case. I'm glad the negative reviews didn't scare me off.

    Lazy Design

Overall it is a very nice case that fits well. However, for the price it should fit perfectly. People saying that those of us complaining about size and fit likely bought the wrong case are incorrect. I purchased a midnight blue "iPad Air 2nd Generation" case. All of the cutouts match my iPad Air 2 perfectly BUT there is indeed a lip that extends past the thickness of the iPad Air 2. Upon noticing this I went back to the store to make sure I had the right case. A salesperson confirmed that I did, and that the 2nd generation case can also be used with the original iPad Air. Because of this, when used for the thinner IPad Air 2, there a a lip of about 1.4mm ( the thickness difference between the Air1 and Air2). Obviously, this extra lip is very small and many people may not be bothered by it or even notice.

I myself am debating if I should return it or not. Again, it is still a nice case that fits very well, but it is also priced very high. People usually don't mind paying extra for apple products because they are paying for design perfection. Unfortunately, this case does not meet the admittedly high design standard people expect from apple.

    Beautifully Efficient cover!

I have the midnight blue Smart Case that I purchased from Houston for my space grey Air 2. The Apple store person initially gave me the Air cover from last year and insisted that it was second generation. When the iPad didn't fit properly in it, he rechecked and found that there was a mistake in the tags (weird) and ultimately I bought the correct one.

Now, I did not think that blue would go too well with the black front - but it looks gorgeous! And it fits perfectly as well, no gaps, it is ideal. The tripod stand that forms from the front cover is sturdy, no falling. The leather does and will get dirty very soon though, that is the nature of it sadly. It seems too expensive when you haven't bought it, but trust me, it is very every dollar. Reading and viewing becomes so easy with it. I only wish it could stand on the tripod such that the iPad is upright instead of rotated 90 degrees. Ah well.

    Midnight blue case:iPad Air 2

This is one cool case, the color is really neat and it fits like a surgical glove. Yes it is $$ but worth it.

    Cover not designed right

I have used this type of cover for years. This version for the iPad Air 2 does not fold right. The first panel is too long and the last one is too short when used as a stand. It collapses when being typed on. Very poor.

    Great case

Don't know why people say it doesn't fit, unless they're ordering the wrong product for their type of iPad. Fits my iPad Air2 perfectly. I'll deduct 1 star for the high price, but I' very satisfied. Case openings are no problem with everything in the right spot and fits.

    Just what I wanted

I'm wondering if some of the first versions of this case were not up to par based on a lot of negative reviews but the one I just bought is really great. Fits perfect, looks and feels really nice, and I got Midnight blue to match the Midnight blue Apple case on my iPhone 6 Plus.

I'd have much rather preferred the old iPad 2 leather cover which served me well and continues to do so. This newer case for the iPad Air 2 feels cheaper. It often falls flat when used as a stand at either angle. I had to mod the lightning bolt port to accommodate my Apogee Jam. I will most likely be boring out a more generous hole for headphones. Apple's ear buds fit fine. My Sony MDR's do not.
Overall it's too finicky and lacks universal functionality.
I will say that the fit is nice and snug. That's about it.

Fits perfectly. No complaints. I will admit it's a bit expensive but I would rather have a case that fits well and protects my iPad!

ipad air2 smartness good fit except

This is my second smart case the previous being for my iPad 3. When I got my iPad air 2 I was hesitant to get the smart case because of the added weight I experienced with the iPad 3 case. Upon holding the iPad air2 smart case in the store I was amazed at how light it was, I got it. Upon getting it home and after installing it, I was very pleased. Like the other reviews the fit was snug ,the materials were easy on the eyes (I got the dark blue) and great to the touch. The volume controls are protected as well as the sleep button--this does make for me the volume controls a bit harder to press but acceptable. And the added weight which is very little well worth it given the excellent protection factor. I was thinking Apple got it right. The reason I gave only a 4 star rating is the phones jack cutout. This cutout lines up fine. The problems start when you try to plug in a 3.5 mm male jack such as anything that you might have that is not Apple-- headphones, earbuds, a cable to connect to old school stereo system(without blue tooth)--the circumference is too narrow. I liked the case so much that I decided to enlarge the opening. I used a old hole cutter for punching holes in paper ( for the three ring binders) that I discovered forgotten in the wayback of my desk drawer. With some persistence I was able to enlarge the cutout so my headphones' jack would fit. If you have access to a hole punch for leather, it might work also. As far as finding a suitable cable for connecting to the stereo, I'm still trying to work something out because you are limited as to how much you can enlarge the cutout without compromising the integrety of the lip of the case. I feel for the price of this case Apple should have foreseen this problem and corrected it. So I own my case hacked-up as it may be and would recommend it. I feel that if Apple does fix this they should offer a free replacement to its loyal customers. What do ya say, Apple?

$80 and they still cut corners

What really shines about this case is the materials. Feels absolutely wonderful to hold. Also, there are only cutouts where they need to be. I like that the ON/OFF and VOLUME buttons are covered. I hate that Apple took away the sound switch though.... But the cutouts are where the case starts to go downhill. The hole for the headphone jack is just a hair shy of being too small for the headphones I usually use. I've been close to taking the case off and trying to see if I could make it bigger. However, the case fits so snug I think you risk breaking the screen trying to get it off. What I don't get is why Apple only put magnets in one corner of the cover and not its entire edge. Why not put magnets across the entire edge so it stays together more securely?

    Poor value

The smart case is grossly overpriced. It might be reasonable at half the £65 I paid. Cases with a keyboard can be purchased for this sort of price. The material quality is OK and it looks smart closed but the folding cover does not support the iPad Air 2 in use at all - it just falls flat. I can't believe it was ever tried out in practice. A poor design.

    Elegant Quality Leather Case

I purchased this case in midnight blue for my sliver iPad Air 2 this past weekend as I did not want the tablet to be without a case for protection. It was pricey at $80 and I rationalized that I could always return the case if I didn't like it. Well, this baby is not going anywhere. I have fallen in love with this case~fits the iPad Air 2 like a glove, all corners protected and not exposed, thin and light with minimal added bulk and weight, wakes the iPad and puts it to sleep, and has a luxurious feel in hand. And as an added bonus, it looks fantastic. With a larger device than my iPad Mini Retina, I wanted to keep the Air 2 as light as possible and still have some protection for it~this case fits the bill.

    Perfect and it's BLUE

I love this case. I had the regular smart case for my iPad 2 but with my new iPad Air 2, I decided to splurge and get leather. Of course, it has to be blue. It's so soft and easy to grip, easy to clean too. It also doesn't add any extra bulk like some other cases. For the reviewer who said it didn't fit their iPad Air 2, you probably picked up the case for the iPad Air. This case fits perfectly.

    Perfect case

This case fits the iPad air 2 perfectly. It is a beautiful case and works exactly as advertised.

I believe that the people that gave it a bad review bought the wrong case. They probably purchased the original iPad air case which looks almost exactly the same but it is a little larger so the cutouts don't match up perfectly. I believe that the cases in the packaging look almost identical and the only difference is that one states iPad air in bold

Buy this case with confidence because it is a great case that fits and works perfectly.

    Love it

This case is a PERFECT fit for the iPad Air 2. It has a great feel, is beautiful, and all the buttons work perfectly. Less bulky and more comfortable than the rubber cases. Worth the money. Don't understand the bad reviews. Highly recommend

    Not What I Expected.

A lot of reviews will tell you this case is bulky, creates a gaps between cover and iPad, does not fit properly, & is too expensive. Now, I shopped around extensively for a perfect case that would compliment and protect my new iPad Air 2 (with a frustratingly failed attempt with a Belkin Folio case that truly added bulk & was not made for the Air 2 as was advertised).

I finally bought the smart case & was instantly surprised by how wrongly people have reviewed it. First, it's incredibly thin and form fitting. It is light, and the leather feels soft to the touch, yet durable. The suade liner exends from the cover to the inside of the case. The cutouts are perfect, and the buttons still function like a charm. The "gap" people talk about is functional for me when I have the cover wrapped around the iPad and decide to set it down on a surface face-down, it protects my screen. The only con is that it covers the beautiful Gold color of the iPad, I wish Apple would make a clear back case for this purpose. But ultimately, if you're looking for a high quality, stylish case that won't add unnecessary bulk, then get this case. I vouch for it and promise the money is worth it.
