Disappointed -- doesn't hold position well

I had an old version of this cover for my iPad 2. It worked perfectly for me. This cover has fewer "slots" and when I fold it to prop up the iPad on my lap it slips out of position. Seems to hold position better on hard surfaces. I will return this as I frequently use my iPad on my lap and this case just doesn't work for me. Nice leather and feel, however.

Don't listen to the bad reviews

I second what another reviewer wrote here about people buying the wrong case for the wrong generation iPad Air and writing a review about the case not fitting properly. The iPad Air 2 was updated from the original iPad Air and this case fits the iPad Air 2 perfectly but apparently doesn't fit the original Air properly. Buy the right case and you'll be happy. If you're paying the money for an iPad Air 2, then pay a little extra and get this case for it. You won't regret it.

    Short term use only

Only recommended for those who have an interest in screen repairs. Was initially quite good. After a while the case wears and unpredictably drops the ipad out whilst you are carrying it. Eventually it falls out onto something hard and the screen is cracked.

    Excellent case

The iPhone 6 Plus leather Smart Case is by far the best I've had, and this is by far the best of the three iPad cases I've owned. It's designed well (holds the iPad up in the positions you want it without unnecessary complexity), doesn't crack in your carry-on backpack like the brittle plastic one it's replacing, it's aesthetically pleasing, and it's very well made.

I could write a lot about problems with other too clever by half case designs, but never mind.

These cases are very expensive, but I won't buy anything else as long as they're available.

    VERY Nice Case

I'd read the negative reviews and studied the pictures so I knew it wasn't going to be super thin. Yes it does leave a small lip raised around the edge, this seems to be how it snaps on. I'm happy with that because it feels secure and offers a bit more protection to the edges (unlike my previous thinner plastic case).

I assume leather that needs to hold a rigid shape can only be made so thin, I doubt Apple would have designed it thicker than it needed to be. It's much nicer than the leather/pleather folio type cases I've tried from other brands. They all had elastic corners that stretch and offer no protection in a fall, or a brittle plastic shell inside a larger case.

It is expensive but lovely quality leather and a precision fit. I always look for cheaper iPad and iPhone cases, but end up coming back to the Apple ones.

    Beautiful case!!!

You get what you pay for. If you are going to spend 600 or more on an iPad, why not invest a little in protecting it with a case that fits like a glove and looks great. You can hardly tell its there, it's so thin. If you have an iPad this is the case for you.

I have had this iPad with this case for a little over a year and it never seizes to amaze me how thin, light, and high quality the case is. It obviously has worn down a little but not a lot and it only makes it look more like leather. No complaints with this case.

    Very poor cover

I have previously owned the smart case for my iPad mini 2 and this case fit the iPad perfectly. However this iPad Air 2 case does not appear to fit the iPad Air 2 very well. The case covers the bottom part of the speaker jack, the camera hole does not align correctly with the camera and the rest of the holes do not align very well with the iPad speakers, etc. The iPad also sits very deep inside the case, so this case does make the iPad look a lot bigger than it needs to. I took this back into an Apple store in Kingston and was told by 2 employees that this is the new design of the case and to just accept it. When you pay £65 for a product, especially one from Apple you expect it to be perfect, especially when 3rd party cases are able to align correctly.

    Poor quality

Fells like very cheap leather (looks more like plastic), scratches very easily and after 2 days looks like it's 2 years old. The mechanism to allow it to curl up and make a stand is terrible in comparison to the IPad 2/3/4 Smart Cover.. Doesn't stay curled up so well and as a result, isn't nearly as stable. Overall, I would keep well away from this case.

After owing an iPad 2 Smart Case at £39 the iPad Air Smart Case at £65 is a complete let down and overpriced for what it is. It’s a poor design only having the 2 folds in the cover compared to the iPad 2 Smart Case which had the 3 folds for better stability. Overall a poor design & there are better cases on the market for half the price. Time to make use & implement the returns policy..

    Functional and Stylish

I love this case. It is more expensive because of the materials. In proportion to the cost of the iPad Air 2, it aligns with what you would pay for a phone cover. Mine stays closed - even in my cluttered briefcase. The stand is simple and functional and does not add too much weight. The leather is buttery soft and the color is vivid and even.

    Poor fit

Like others, I have bought the correct case for the iPad Air 2 as it states on the back on the label on the bottom right hand side MGTV2ZM/A iPad Air (2nd generation), Smart Case Black. All the buttons and cut outs align perfectly, but there is definitely an annoying lip all the way around the case as the case is a good millimetre or so thicker than the iPad. I've just paid £65 for this, so I am a tad annoyed that the case has not met my expectations.

    very poor

DON"T BUY THIS CASE . . . the clips that hold the iPad in the case have both snapped off after one month leaving me with a iPad that simply falls out of the case (unless I glue it on!!) rendering it useless as a stand . . for £65 I would of expected much better.
My wife has the old magnetic design, which doesn't offer any protection to the casing, but it at least works as a cover & a stand.

A little expensive but a nice case.

    As the title says really.
It fits well and it looks and feels quality although it's a bit pricey.
It does have a slight lip which protrudes past the screen but it's nice to know that if you drop it the screen won't scrape across the floor.
I would have give it 5* if the price would have been a bit less.

Got it with my glorious new iPad Air 2, and LOVE IT!!!

I love this case. It is perfectly formed to the iPad and it stands solidly even on my bed (read as soft surface). I installed a Zagg Glass screen protector and it works perfectly with the case. It is soft and very comfortable to hold while playing games or my most frequent ice of the iPad, reading. It is pricy... I just hope it holds up considering the cost. I will revise this review if any issues arise, but as of now this case is compact and extremely functional.

The case fits my iPad Air 2 perfectly! People who purchase this case need to pay close attention to what they are purchasing. There have been many reviews complaining that the case is too big, but that's only because you failed to purchase the correct case for it. I consulted with a sales rep when I got to the store and he pointed out the correct cases for the new iPad Air 2. Just to be safe, I turned the packaging over and located the price tag (which is usually at the bottom right corner), and right above it it reads: iPad Air (2nd generation). I bought the case, put it on while still at the store and the fit was perfect! It's still a great case. Very happy with my purchase!

    Fits ok but poor quality

Hesitated getting this case after poor reviews but as I had just bought the leather case for iPhone 6 decided to give a go. Was disappointed with the first case I bought due to the leather having a poor finish - marks and dark streaks across the leather (unlike the iPhone 6 case which had a uniform finish). Thought this just the case I had so returned for exchange and the replacement was of similar finish. Not impressed with this product and do not consider it worth the expensive £65 price tag but stuck with this as it's the only slimline case I know of for the iPad Air 2. Poor quality and not up to Apple standard.
