    Nice materials, poor functionality

Overall, I'm disappointed with this case. The pros are that is very light, and really doesn't add much bulk at all to the size and weight of the iPad Air 2, which is great for transporting it about. The leather is of good quality, and does feel very nice to hold.

On the downside, the viewing angles are not great for me. The upright is a little too upright, and is not particularly stable, it tends to fall over a lot. it also lays too far down for me when used the other way round. The ipad itself sits a little low in the case too. My biggest gripe is that my rca stereo (an apple product) cannot be used with this case as the cut out is not big enough. As a fitness instructor that uses an ipad with a powered speaker to run classes, this is a big deal for me! Having to remove the iPad from this case in order to plug in the cable pretty much renders it useless. I may as well have purchased a (cheaper) sleeve... This is the first apple product I have ever been disappointed with.

    Love this case!

I had the case for the iPad Air, great case. Got the iPad Air 2, and it really didn't fit properly in old case, so I purchased the new iPad Air 2 case. This case is even better that the last generation. They are more expensive than other cases, but in my opinion, they are worth it.

    Fantastic product!

This really is a great product!
Simply the best compliment to iPad Air 2.

    Very happy with it!

    Choose the right case people!!!

Ok, I was not going to say anything or write a review, but after reading all the bad reviews I decided it's time to speak up. To all of you that say the holes aren't lined up correctly, the ports and buttons are covered, you can see the lip on the edge, or the case looks thicker than the iPad, YOU ARE BUYING THE WRONG CASE. You purchased the 1st Generation case. When you are at the store looking at the cases, they all say iPad Air Smart Case on the front correct? Flip the case to the back and look at the bottom label. If you have an Air 2 make sure you buy the case that says "2nd Generation". Go back and exchange it for the correct case. I guarantee that if some of you still have the box the case came in and you check the back, it will not say 2nd Generation on it. The 2nd Generation case fits my Air 2 perfectly and all of the ports are aligned properly. Hopefully this resolves all of your questions and negative feedback on what I feel is an excellent quality real leather case for my iPad Air 2.

    Perfect fit, full protection

Adds a little bulk, but very little weight. The benefit is full protection without carrying the iPad in a separate case. Feels really good in the hand.
    Expensive, but quality.
Before buying, I took the precaution of reading the very small print on the small label on the back of the packaging to be sure that the case was for the iPad Air 2. Judging by some of the negative reviews, Apple might do well to re-design the labelling on the front of the pack to differentiate the iPad Air and iPad Air 2 cases.

Ipad 2 air is now as thick to look at as the ipad air and the top cover fits poorly because the screen is lower down because the air ipad 2 is thinner than the ipad air . This could have been done much better. Dont won't to by a thinner ipads and then buy a cover that makes it thick as ipad air :(

Do not buy until they resolve the fit

This case is exactly the same total depth as the air 1 case thus having a 1mm lip around the front edge of the iPad air 2 whereas all previous iPads and smart cases the screen was flush with the case edge. This is raised as the case is too deep and before anybody claims I have the wrong case I 100% have the new 2nd generation air case as stated on the packaging and confirmed by the apple salesman I bought it from and the new hole placements are all correct for the slightly modified cutout positions of the new air 2

This product is sold for a premium price which if premium design I am happy to pay for as I have with all my previous iPads but this is not a premium fit therefore is not worth the money

It defeats the point of thinning the iPad to the air 2 then using what appears under scrutiny to be the same original air case carcasses but with new holes cut as the total depth with the new case fitted is the same as the iPad air 1 with its respective case.

I hope apple will resolve this and do the right thing by replacing them with a properly fitted case to the products depth soon as this is not good enough and screams of laziness in case design.

Don't go down this route apple, you're better than this!

    Great, quality product

I was dubious about purchasing this after reading the existing reviews, some stating that the case feels the wrong size for the iPad Air 2. Mine arrived this morning, and it feel and fits lovely. The iPad 'pops' into place snuggly, and the casing looks thick enough to prevent damage or knocks.

    Nice case

Surprised on how soft the leather really is. I feel like I can carry my iPad air 2 around and not really worry about dropping it. The case also does not really add that much bulk to the device either. $80 is an ok price but $60 would be much better.

    Perfect Fit

After reading various reviews for the iPad Air 2 case, I must admit to having a degree of hesitation, especially due to the high cost, but took a chance and I'm delighted to say it fits perfectly, doesn't add any unnecessary bulk plus looks and feels good, delighted I purchased this .

    Brilliant case.

Previous reviews criticise the iPad sitting to low in the case. Yes it sits low but I see this as a good point protecting the corners of the iPad from damage.
Everything else about the case is brilliant, design, materials etc, and hopefully the case will give me years of use.

    Great case...

Having read some of the reviews for this case I was anticipating sending it back, but after a week on my new iPad Air2 I think it's great... I chose the (ok it is expensive, so only 4 stars) full case having suffered scratching on the back of my old iPad 2 which only had a screen cover. The fit is fantastic (tricky to get it out once in - but why would you?). There are no issues with the size of the ear phone socket hole (for non-Apple earphones) and the whole thing really complements the lightness of the Air2... Nice piece of kit!

Excellent, beautifully made and slimmer than the Air1 case.

I was slightly worried about the very poor reviews for this case but bought one anyway. It is essential to check that the box is labelled on the back for the iPad Air (2nd Generation) as the large white text on the clear package front makes no such distinction.

I have both Air1 and Air2 each in a Smart case and the 2nd Generation IS emphatically thinner, and a very snug good fit. The cut outs for the two microphones are in exactly the correct place as are the raised buttons, Lightning socket and camera apertures.

Although the Air1 case will fit the Air2 the buttons don't line up, (there's a redundant cut out for the slide switch) and neither of the Air2microphones has a hole.

This is undeniably expensive but is very nice to handle, fits well and offers protection for the Air2. I would it recommend thoroughly.

The case fits ok, but the quality is poor, the leather looks cheap, and for the £65 price tag, I expected more. Sadly at the moment, there is no other option on the market for the Air 2. I would realistically say this case should be sold at £30. Very disappointed.

    Great Case

I've read other reviews and was skeptical, but it's really a great case. I understand it is expensive and that's one of the main reasons for discounting the value of the case. Do I think it's overpriced? Yes. However, this was the only case available at the time and I stand by my decision to purchase. It does exactly what it's advertised to do and feels like a high-quality product (as it should!). Case is also slim and fits great.

Fits my iPad perfectly, strange that others don't

I read the reviews on here and was surprised at the reviews that said that the case didn't fit the iPad properly. So I went to the Apple store to see one for myself since I really needed a case, I kept fearing I would accidentally damage my iPad.

I asked to see a case and the salesperson opened a box for me. I tried it and it fitted perfectly, a very snug fit with no free space on any of the four sides.

I said I would like a black one and picked one off the shelf but the salesperson looked at the back of the box and told me the one I picked was for the original iPad Air, not the Air 2. I asked her how she knew and she said because of the writing and code on the back. Since there were no correct cases on the shelves, she got one from the back. I put it on immediately and again, it fit perfectly.

I'm really happy with mine and can only guess that *perhaps* the other reviewers on here *may* have been sent/given the wrong case. This is the code on the back of my box in case it is useful to anyone: "MGTV2ZM/A iPad Air (2nd generation), Smart Case Black".

    Really good (if expensive) case

Bought my iPad Air 2 in white just so I could get a PRODUCT(RED) smartcase and it would look good while donating a little money to charity. Yes the case is expensive, but it fits my iPad beautifully (redesigned subtly for the Air 2) and feels gorgeous in the hand - grippy enough that you're not terrified it'll slip out of your hand, which the naked iPad sometimes feels like it might. The stand works beautifully too. This is clearly a well-designed and expensive-feeling product, worth the extra cash over aftermarket cases. Easily worth five stars

Badly designed case for the perfectly designed iPad Air 2

I've been looking all over the web for options for my iPad Air 2. I finally broke down and bought the iPad Air 2 Smart Case - RED, since using the iPad without a stand/Case can be difficult.

The hard shell case I'm sure will provide ample protection if I happen to drop the iPad, but the external buttons on the iPad, which are now covered by the hard shell of the cover, do not respond without getting a really solid grip and pressing very hard. Additionally, the Sleep/Power down button isn't lined up very well, and my iPad continually prompts me to power down by sliding the icon to the right every time I move the iPad. Its almost as though the button is being pressed simply be moving the iPad. The only time it doesn't prompt me to power down is when I actually try and press the button on purpose.

    Completely preventable. Very disappointing.

Too thick for the iPad Air 2. Very disappointed.

Although I am very happy with the iPad Air 2, I'm quite disappointed with the smart case.

I've used the smart cover on my first iPad, and I did like it, but thought it was too finicky and would detach too easily. So I though the smart case was a natural extension on that great idea.

But I unfortunately I'll be returning this case. The lip around the edge of the device is quite noticeable and is very distracting when using the ipad while in your hand or lap. I have a co worker with a 1st Generation iPad Air and smart case and it sits perfectly, when comparing the cases we discovered that they are exactly the same thickness.

This is clearly an iPad Air case simply recut and recycled for the new button placement on the iPad Air 2. This is extremely lazy and not in keeping with Apple's usual product quality.

I urge everyone NOT to purchase this case and wait for Apple to release a product worthy of the price tag.

Thin and Precision Made using real leather

This case is perfect for what I was looking for. I wanted a thin case that retains the amazing thinness of the air2 that was real leather. I also wanted a case I could comfortably hold in one hand while reading. That case has it all. This case is all leather. It feels like leather, smells like leather, and fits the air 2 like a glove. This doesn't appear to be bonded leather either. Maybe Apple could come out with a cheaper version of this for $40 thats not leather but that feels like a great deal when comparing the quality/craftsmanship of this case to the real leather competitors. Why cover an awesome toy in a cheap plastic case?
