    Great!

Great product! It does exactly what it needs to do - charge iPhones, but it does that simple task looking slick and stylish.

    So ar so good...

Pretty basic but that's what I was looking for. If you've never used a dock for your iphone then you'll be pleased with the added utility. Sure, it just holds the phone upright but now I can use my iPhone as a bedside clock and that's really the only reason I purchased it. If you're looking for something more sexy and perhaps more useful then look at the non-Apple offerings. Either way, the goal may end up being the same and that is to simply hold the phone upright.

Nice dock BUT doesn't work for all cases

Just wanted to post that this dock works with slimmer cases, however, two cases that I have tried that are a tad too big include the Otterbox Symmetry and the Spigen Tough Armor. I switch cases often so it won't bother me too much but I wish it was made to work with slightly thicker cases.

    Works as advertised

I got tired of setting my iPhone 6 down and losing it under a stack of papers. So now I can sit it up, plug it in with my short Lightning cable to my iMac, sync and charge, and keep an eye on it. It worked with my minimal case. However, before I bought it, to maximize my money's worth, I made sure that it could be used with my iPad Mini and iPad Air. Yes, it can work… with care. Because it's not meant for the iPad Air, best be sure not to handle it too much on the dock, or risk knocking it over. In any case, I docked it one star because of the exorbitant price (gouging, anyone?).

    Useless, and Unstable

    Absolutely would NOT RECOMMEND this!

I got this with my iPhone 6s Plus. I didn't pay attention when buying, and didn't notice that this doesn't come with a cable, well that was my mistake, but I would still expect the dock to come with its own cable.
Then we get to it being actually very useless. Given the fact that you'd have to purchase separate cables for this, you might as well just stick those into the bottom of your phone. No need to add an additional piece in between!
Then we get to how attaching the phone to it is a challenge. You either have to go blindly and move your phone back and forth, and left and right while pushing it down hoping that the socket will find the exact position on the phone, and quite possibly damage both the dock and your phone in the process, or you'd have to bend down and look down your phone, which is really inconvenient.
Last, but not least, my iPhone 6s Plus is very unstable on it. I keep thinking it will either break the socket, or the port in my phone while it's attached to it. The socket is raised from the flat surface, such that all of your phone's weight would be on the socket, and your phone wouldn't sit on the dock itself, so it wobbles sideways.

I was quite fund of having a standing charging station on my desk with my previous phone, but that did come with its own cable, and it was a wireless charger (not an iPhone) so I would just drop my phone on it, and it would be super stable, and charge effortlessly, and I could also see my phone's screen. It was great. That's what I was thinking when I bought this product, but it's far from achieving that.

    Don't bother...

Nice dock if you use a ridiculously thick case, Otherwise, and even with a large case, you'll be searching for the right position to dock your phone forever. Don't bother, seriously. Huge Apple fail here.

    Great Dock

I love this dock. It looks great on my work desk and holds up my 6s+ without wobbling. I use it at work so I never miss an email or text message, it's always right next to my monitors pointing directly at me. It's pretty easy to align with the Lightning port too - it's in the middle of the home button!

With that said - here is why it's 4 not 5 stars.
-hard to take out of dock. I attend a lot of meetings, and you have to hold the bottom and pull the phone off the dock. It's small, so if you're in a rush it's frustrating.
-no lightning cable included, luckily I have a bunch laying around from jump trade-ins

Other than those two cons, it's a great little accessory and I highly recommend it.

    Major disappointment

Bought this with my new iPhone6s thinking it a neat addition to my office desk set up. Very disappointed to report that after 6 days the lightening connector on the dock simply allows the phone to wobble and no longer charges.
I checked that the lightening cable works independently so this is definitely a design flaw in the dock.
Many have reported on the US site that they share this disappointment.
For the first time ever I shall be returning a product to Apple for a refund and that is a real shame.

    Not very useful

Disappointed to find that it does not work with a tech21 case sold and recommended by Apple for my new iPhone 6S. The case prevents it docking correctly and so cannot charge. I am not prepared to take the case off every time I wish to use the dock, so unfortunately it is rather useless.

Nice but it could be better

I purchased this dock for my iPhone 6. I can dock my phone with its case on just fine, however I'm using Apple's leather case. I've read some customers are having issues with third party cases not fitting right on the dock, that's something you may need to consider. I have to agree with the reviewer who complained about the stability of the phone while docked. It does wobble a bit. Also not a lot support when using the touchscreen while docked. I am able to text back and navigate apps while the phone is docked but the slight wobbling while doing so isn't the best user experience. Apple could have done a better job here.

It is a nice looking product though, it matches the phone and it's weighted so it doesn't move around easily and your phone won't come off the dock if you pick it up with the base. Keep in mind it does not come with a charger or lightning cable or auxiliary cable for audio. I'm using the charger & cable that came with the iPhone and an auxiliary cable I already had. If you have an extra lightning cable, you can connect to your computer's USB port for charging instead of using your wall charger. In my setup, I have it on my desk connected to the wall charger and my computer speakers. It's convenient for FaceTime and taking regular calls on speaker, listening to podcasts or music through your speakers, and monitoring notifications while the phone is continuously charging. Sure you can do these things without a dock, but this is a convenience buy. Not a must have accessory for the iPhone. It's your judgment whether it's useful enough for you given its price.

    Stopped working on second day

This dock was great for the first night that I owned it, the idea is great and it looks great. But mine was just dead the day after I bought it. I'm not one to leave reviews but this is just sad. At $50 for such a small product you'd think apple could make something of quality that works with their own cables and phones. I've never bought an apple dock before because the reviews are always bad and now i know why. Also, I have an iPhone 6 and my phone was wiggling left and right way more than I anticipated. I wish they had optional rubber pads for the left and right of the phone to keep it stable if you don't have a case, but i also wish my dock worked at all.

Build quality typically good but design is flawed

As ever with Apple, a lot of attention is paid to the build quality. It looks and feels premium in the new metal design. I went for the space grey colour to match my iPhone.

There is one major issue with the design, though. The only point of contact with the phone is the lightning port itself. The phone doesn't touch the dock base. It's therefore really unstable, and easily rocks left/right when mounted. The slightest sideways knock and the connection is broken and the dock stops charging the phone.

Additionally, when I first plugged my iPhone 6 into the dock, a message appeared on the phone suggesting the accessory was not supported. The phone stopped charging thereafter until I rebooted it.

    Disappointed

This dock is pretty. I just received it. My phone continually disconnects even though there isn't any movement with the phone. There IS NOT a lightning cable with it, you have to use the one that comes with the phone. I did not check the contents before buying. I am getting what I paid for. I think this may be overpriced, but that is my opinion.

    It works

The first reviewer stated that his phone wiggles on the charger but I haven't had that issue. I do wish that the dock leaned the phone back at more of an angle instead of standing it nearly straight up. That aside, it's well-built and has replaced my Belkin dock because I like that I can plug headphones into Apple's.

    Very pretty, not very functional

I've used several versions of the iPhone docks made by Apple, but this one I had to return. The stand is very pretty, and looks very nice. However, the lightning plug that sticks up above the dock is not a very functional design. It is tough to accurately dock your phone and the phone does not stay very stable in the dock. It rotates from side, because it is not supported by anything other than the plug. I guess Apple designed it this way to be compatible with their cases, however a sunken-in design would have been more stable and easy to use (but less friendly with cases). I'll be looking to a 3rd party dock to use now.

Solid Apple Product, but How Safe is it?

This is a typical piece of Apple engineering - simplistic design, well built and sturdy (it's predominantly metal), with an Apple premium price to match. I bought it for my iPhone 6, which fits it just fine in its Apple case, but if you've got a 3rd party case you might want to check that there's enough clearance around the lightning connector's port to allow it to sit on the dock. The connector is the only point of contact with the phone which should make it compatible with most cases, but it's also the thing which causes me to question how good a design this will prove to be in the long term as any accidental knocking of the phone whilst on the dock is going to place all the strain on the dock connector, a reason why I've previous rejected 3rd party docks. However, in this case the connector is metal which should virtually eliminate the risk of it snapping off inside the phone, but I do still wonder if any lateral movement of the docked phone is going to eventually damage the port inside the phone. Time will tell!

It's also worth noting that you don't get a lightning cable or plug with this. That's made clear in the item description, but it's still a bit of a disappointment at this price.
