    Missed the Mark

Apple really missed the mark with these smart covers. I originally bought the one with keyboard and it kept falling off so I decided to buy one of these - this one is worse, if that is possible. The cover does not fit the iPad well and again, the magnet doesn't work well and keeps coming off.

    Disappointed.

    Fits perfectly, works perfectly

We were very reluctant to purchase this due to the high number of negative reviews citing poor fit, but did so anyway because of a good experience with two prior iPads and Smart Covers. It arrived a day early and worked perfectly right out of the box. Hard to understand the number of people saying it didn't fit unless they were using back covers not made to allow the smart cover. Our iPad has an aftermarket back cover and it's notched to allow the smart cover to attached. The cover itself exactly matches the face of the iPad, no overlap and no gap. It could not be sized any better and it works exactly as advertised.

    Doesn't fit

it seems to ride either too high or too low. not really well made. For a $50 item this is not acceptable. Will return it.

    Vastly Overpriced

Yes, this is a good cover in many respects: it snaps across the back of the ipad and the colours are great. It's wipe-clean too, which is a plus. It fits very well and folds into a reasonably secure stand, but one of my gripes is that it's only possible to use it in landscape mode. Portrait mode just doesn't work, which means that it's difficult to play some gaming apps without detaching it. Most of all though, I really resent paying so much money for half a case; if you want to protect the back as well as the front (and I did) you have to buy a silicone cover too, which takes the total price for protecting an ipad pro to around a hundred and eighteen pounds. If they sold the two parts as a single case for that price, no one would be foolish enough to buy it. So I feel ripped off and gullible.

    Love the cover

I just purchased my iPad Pro 9.7 and didn't want to take a chance of it not being covered. I read the reviews and was quite frankly worried that the apple cover was not up to par. I bought it anyway thinking that I could return it if I didn't like it. Surprise it is perfect, I didn't have ANY of the issues I read in the reviews. The fit is great and it stays on very well, I like that when I fold it back that it stays in place because of the magnets. I also like that the back is not covered, because the rose gold of my iPad is to pretty cover. I do use a sleeve to protect the back while in transit. I say give it a try, everyone has a different idea on what works for them. I would highly recommend it!

    Dreadful quality

Nowhere on the Smart Cover packaging, or from any Apple Store employee was there even a suggestion that this Smart Cover would not fit.

My family have owned 11 iPads over the years, all with smart covers only. All of them fitted perfectly.

To pretend that this latest generation "needs" the rear cover is plainly dishonest. In that case make two separate Smart Cover sizes, and be sure your highly valued customers get the correct one.

I will certainly be returning this, and will seriously consider returning the iPad Pro as well. Such poor quality is unacceptable at this price. While I have always appreciated Apple products, it is purely because I see them as quality. My loyalty is not blind love.

    Dimwit Reviews!

This cover was designed to work with the back cover. Didn't any of you dimwits read the specs!?
And the reason they are sold separately is because many iPad Pro users have purchased the Apple Keyboard which is another option for the front cover.
This cover, used as intended, and documented by Apple, is a beautifully fitting accessory. And to complain about the price?!? That's Steve Jobs deal. You want cheap? Don't buy Apple!

    Doesn't work!

The cover is too big and therefore doesn't work (won't wake up or sleep my iPad). I will be returning it.

Experienced Apple customer. Definitley incorrectly sized. Gray color.

I could rattle off all Apple phones, iPads, Macs, IPTV's (and a Time Capsule) and tell you how much our family buys from Apple. I would love to see Jony Ive doing a commercial on how perfectly this product is designed. It would be hilarious. I read the comments about buying a protector to cover the back which is made of metal (please). Even with the silicone back, this thing still does not fit. People in the store pulled it out. Everyone stood around with with that "oh-oh" look on their faces. Nice people. Offered to take the return. No questions. I would prefer to have an Apple product that fits. As many have said, this is very un-apple-like. Please correct soon. I would like to buy a proper fitting Apple cover for this expensive highly portable device. Feel free to contact me. Thanks.

    Overpriced and poorly designed

Overpriced piece of plastic which doesn't fit right unless you also buy the overpriced piece of silicon as the back cover.
It's also unstable as a support to type on.
Thoroughly underwhelming and I've now reverted to a 10 dollar case-and-cover combo which performs much better than this exorbitant, poorly functioning rubbish.
Don't buy this, you'll regret it.

    iPad Pro Smart Cover

Terrible product. It overhangs the iPad edge and it moves around and doesn't feel stable.

My experience is the same. Awful Fit

The fit is as terrible as others have noted. I too have owned various iPads, each with a Smart Cover. This is the worst fit. Ironically the Air 2 Cover is a better size. The problem is the extra wide hinge "flap". It is very sloppy.

Also, the smell coming from it is horrendous. Apple should design a new one; it would take an hour ... And provide an exchange for any not using the silicone case.

    Does not fit properly

I have owned every iPad modlel and have always purchased a Smart Cover to go with it. This is the first time I have ever regretted that decision. This is the first Smart Cover that does not fit properly as it is too large for the device. Just terrible.

    Terrible

I've owned a number of the smart covers and have always been very happy with them. This one is a piece of garbage. I didn't know when I bought it that it was designed to work with the case or I wouldn't have purchased it. I have no interest in the case.

    Very disappointed.

    Hate it!

The people who don't like the overhang is understandable. However it does fit correctly if you have the smart base for it. I don't understand why the smart case was not made for this latest iPad. It needs it. I bought both the cover and base and seriously it is the worst Smart Cover/case I have owned. It constantly falls over, the magnets don't seem strong enough. I have tried it all ways and it just always pops open no matter what I do.mvery disappointing for such an expensive product. I reckon we are better using an air2 case and adjusting it for the speakers.
Plus why is it so expensive to buy both. The full case is cheaper.

Smart Cover fits perfectly with the silicon case

As several others have mentioned, the Smart Cover was designed to work in conjunction with the silicon case. If you don't also purchase the silicon case you will probably feel that it is ill fitting.

It might be wise if Apple indicated somewhere on their website or in the literature that the Smart Cover and case are a pair, or maybe they should sell them as one product instead of two.

Yes, the case and cover were really expensive, but I am very please with the quality.

    I actually really like it.

No, it's not leather but Apple hasn't made leather smart covers in years. As for the overhanging bit, I actually like that it overhangs so I have somewhere to rest my Apple pencil.

A 9.7" cover for a 9.7" in leather please, how hard can it be?
It has been done before. :)
