    7 Months later

Beautiful leather case that protects better than you'd expect, it being slim and minimalistic. After about 5 months however, it started fraying at the edges. After seven months, it started falling apart completely, no longer holding the phone snugly in place. Not what I expect from a $40 case. The good news is I took it to an Apple store and they gave me a new one, no questions asked. This time around, I'm going to be really careful with it, to see if I can get it to last a whole year. I really do like the case, it's slim and classy so no biggy. I hope it lasts until the iPhone 8 comes out and I'll upgrade anyway, but just so you know, it may not be the most durable.

    Great case.

It's a great case and feels good to the hand. Tight and thin so it does not ad bulk to my SE. I would buy this again anytime.

    Amazing Gift

I got this for my brother as a Christmas present (who has an iPhone 5S) and I was curious so I tried it out. It was the best case I have ever tried out and makes my phone much more grippy. It's also really good for protection because I am dropping my phone a LOT and it's still in perfect condition. Thank You Apple!

Sadly this lovely case is a waste of $$$$$

I loved the look and idea of this case. After about three weeks of use (never removing the case after I first put it on), it became loose and left the bottom left of the phone exposed. Of course it was right out of my return date and now Apple won't do anything about it. If I'd reviewed this item a day after I received it, I'd have given it 5 stars. However, after some use it loosen and unless you want the corners of your phone exposed...DO NOT PURCHASE.

Not quite the standard you'd expect from Apple

I was expecting this case to be a perfect fit, seeing as it is an official Apple product for an Apple phone. It is a little too small, if anything, maybe 1 or 2mm too shallow. The case edges don't quite wrap around the metal phone edges around the screen, so the glass is only just level with the rim of the case, so if you were to lay it face down on a flat surface, the screen would be touching the surface. The holes for the speaker and mic don't quite line up either. The 'velveteen' lining is soft and protective for the phone and the finish of the leather is very nice, it's just the size that's the issue. Certainly not worth £39 at all, more like, say £15, in my opinion.

    Seems Great To Me

Not sure I get the negative points people have made. The leather is not particularly slippery at all. There are other grippier cases out there but most of those (excepting the Speck one that I have) also attract and hold lint like crazy. Silicone cases seem to be the worst in that regard.

Fits great. Taking it on or off might slide the ring/silent switch, but pulling it out of a pocket doesn't. At least not for me. The corners don't seem to slide off either, as someone posted. As to the silver trim around the very edge of the phone being visible: it is. I think it looks fine that way though. Not a big deal. That trim is less than one mm wide. Doesn't look bad to me at all, but of course that's a very personal assessment.

Someone posted something about the leather being stiff enough that the buttons are hard to push. Again, not my experience at all. Maybe some are stiffer than others?

The other thing that some have pointed out is the "minimal" screen protection. This case does have a very small lip around the edge. Lay it flat on a table etc and the screen is certainly not contacting anything. Those who equate this with a lack of screen protection are overlooking what'll really mess up your screen though: a corner of something or a protrusion or what have you. What I mean is: If you drop your phone and it lands screen-down, how likely is it that it'll land perfectly flat on a perfectly flat surface? Not very. So... all the other cases out there that have more of a raised edge around the front are really only giving a false sense of security there.

    Problematic Design

This case has some issues which are making me think about returning it.

    - It adds significantly to the feeling of size of the phone. It may be just a couple of millimetres thick, but it's a critical difference.
    - It's a lot more slippery in the hand than the bare phone.
    - It dulls the lock and volume buttons into mushyness, forcing you to press them with more force.
    - The port for the lightning connector is very narrow, so some 3rd party plugs may not fit.
    - It prevents you using Apple's 30pin to Lightning adapter, so car connector kit options are limited.
    - It doesn't wrap around the edges of the screen at all, so you see the black edge of the case, the silver edge of the phone, then the (black) screen - visually overly busy.
    - it's really hard, and I imagine doesn't so much pad the phone against falls, as transfer that kinetic energy straight through.

    Some issues

The case does not fit the phone solidly. Corners of the phone come out of the case. So much in fact that it pushes the button to silence the phone unknowingly. Therefore lots of missed calls and email alerts when this happens....which is often.. You have to train yourself to keep taking it out of your pocket and push the silence button back on. Very, very annoying. Big design flaw.

    Perfect compact case

This is the same case as mine, which I have on a 5s. My first case was a clunky one that had to be worn on my belt. When its belt clip broke, and the manufacturer required too many steps to replace a $16 clip, I decided to go for this one. What's the point of having a case that is twice as weighty as the phone, anyway? This has been durable, offers reasonable protection, and allows the phone to fit in my shirt pocket. When I upgrade my phone to the new SE, I'll keep my case, because after 1 1/2 years, it still looks new.

Beautiful case, just not the right fit

I have the SE and like another user mentioned you see the silver trim of your phone which annoys me greatly! I wanted it to be the perfect case but it just doesn't cover enough of the front. I have a black phone & I wanted a solid black look but with that silver trim exposed it's just an eye sore for me. Not enough of a lip either to protect the screen. So disappointed as I love the leather. Have to return. :( Come on Apple! More coverage on the front please

    Almost Perfect

I like a sleak case, as in, it almost looks part of the phone. This case almost did that for me except the front. I have the space gray iPhone. When I put the case on the phone it still exposed a silver lip around the front rim. To most folks this might not annoy them. I couldn't stand it. Had to return it right away. Shame because I like the look of leather

Not usable with 30pin to lightning adaptor

I bought this case for my iPhone 5, having been told instore it was compatible. When I got it home I found I could not use the phone in the case in my speaker dock, which has a genuine Apple 30pin to lightning adaptor, because the hole for the Lightning connector is too small to allow the connector to be pushed fully home, unlike the iPhone 6 case, where the gap at the bottom is almost the whole width of the phone. It also doesn't fit on my Belkin charging stand, so even if I got a speaker dock with a lightning connector I'm not sure it would work.

    Fit in tight

Leather finishing not so good, need to be careful to avoid been scratch & sharp objects like keys as it will damage this tiny soft leather.
I do installed back tempered glass on my iPhone 5 & It fits in exactly & tight again all the buttons position.
Sad thing is why apple can't use thick grain leather type rather this type of thin leather.
It is not cheap either & lack of color choices on this SE leather case as only choice of two colors as compare with 5s leather case more color choices.

    Very Nice Case

This case adds a little more bulk that I'd prefer, but the iPhone SE is already so small (and awesome :P) that it's not a huge deal. The case is soft and supple, and provides some add'l grip. It seems to provide adequate protection too, but I haven't had the misfortune of testing that just yet. It's definitely one of the better cases I've used on any phone.

    Beauty case, ZERO protection

I know this product does not claim to 'protect' the phone, but why else do we buy cases? It's supposed to serve fashion AND functionality. Unfortunately this case only server the former, fashion. It's beautiful. Smooth, thin leather layer, gorgeous shade. I had the blue. It fits like a glove. It's beautiful to look at, great to touch, and also VERY slippery and very likely to sweep off your hands. And that is what happened to me, on a beautiful sunny day on a concrete parking lot. It slid right off my hand, my 2 day old iPhone SE, and since it's a thin layer of leather, it provided ZERO impact support, resulting on a shuddered screen. Little backstory on me: I am very careful with my phones, and I have had iPhones since the 4. Replacing it every 2 years, like a true apple disciple. And never have I had a broken iPhone. I have dropped my phones before, many times, but I was lucky to have bought the right kind of case before. I know sometimes the phone falls a certain way, and the iPhone has a glass face, so its not immune to breakage, but I do know, that if it wasn't for this slippery and frail case, I would not have had to shell an extra $140 to fix my 2 day old iPhone. Apple would not take responsibility, they claim they never advertised the case as a protection for the phone, but at least they did let me return the case, which after one minor fall, was scraped on all sides, and it did not look like the attractive case I initially bought.

    Alright

Once your phone is in the case it is really hard to come out!! It has a soft touch for the iPhone to sit on which is good. However, I do not agree on the price but that my opinion.

    Better with age

I am very happy with this case. Good fit and finish and couples nicely with my iPhone 5s. The case has developed a nice patina and the few chips in the leather from dropping, have smoothed into real life character blemishes as you would expect with good leather. I have the same leather on my iPad which also performs very well. This case protects the phone surprisingly well for such a sleek design. I will be outfitting my next iPhone SE with the same leather case.

    iPhone 5s

I'm a big fan of the Apple leather case, so I bought this SE case for my iPhone5s, (because the old one is getting loose after using it for 2.5 years), and noticed it's quite hard to press the on/off button, but the volume button is ok, is anyone facing the same issue?
