Zoom to Fit Selection

Logic Pro offers a variety of zoom options. Most obvious are the Zoom sliders in the lower-left and upper-right hand corners of a window’s working area, and the Zoom tool (which appears whenever you hold down the Control key). Other options are available only as key commands.

One of the best options is also one of the simplest: the “Zoom to Fit Selection” command.

Simply highlight the region you want to zero in on. Here we’ve selected the bass region in bars 5 and 6:

Press the “Z” key, the default key command for “Zoom to Fit Selection Horizontally and Vertically, Store Navigation Snapshot.” Logic Pro instantly zooms in on the highlighted region.

To return to the previous view, type Shift+Z, the default key command for “Navigation: Back.”

If you like, you can change these key commands in the Key Commands window. You can also create key commands that let you step forward and backward through multiple zoom settings or zoom to fit the Locators.
