Create Tracks from the Track Mixer
Theres a quick way to add any type of track to the Arrange window: Just double-click the track you need in the Track Mixers Global View.
Not sure what that means? Just remember that the Track Mixer has two display modes: Global and Track. The Global view shows all available channels, whether or not theyre assigned to tracks in the Arrangement. The Track view shows only the tracks youre using it mirrors the contents of the Arrange window.
Say youre working on a song with three instruments:
In the Track Mixers Track view (with the Global button unselected), you see the same three tracks:
But if you highlight Global, you see all the audio objects you could add. (Youll probably have to scroll to the right to view them all.)
Double-click the fader for any object and it appears in both the Arrange Window and the Track Mixers Track view. This is useful if, say, you want an Auxiliary or Output channel to appear in the Arrange window for automation purposes.
The Track Mixers filter buttons give you the option of viewing only the channel types you want to see. Say you wanted an Auxiliary channel for adding a delay effect to multiple tracks. Youd highlight the Global and Aux buttons, revealing all available Auxiliary tracks and nothing but the Auxiliary tracks.
If you double-click the Aux 1 fader, it appears alongside the other tracks in the Arrange window.
Now you can insert a delay effect on the Aux track and automate its parameters from the Arrange window.
You can display more than one channel type in the Track Mixer window by shift+clicking on the filter buttons. Highlight Input and Output, for example, and youll see only inputs and outputs. Whats more, these multiple selections are remembered separately for the Global and Track views. You might, for example, opt to display all the channel types used in your Arrange window when in Track view, but only the Aux, Bus, and Output channels in Global view.
