Using the powerful image editing tools in iPhoto, you can to crop your photos, punch up the colors, or even apply special effects. A little touch-up work can turn a good photo into one you’ll want to feature prominently in your digital portfolio.

Crop your images to fill the TV screen

When you’re editing your photos for your digital portfolio, think about how they’ll look on a TV. The Crop tool in iPhoto has preset constraints for both standard and widescreen televisions. Cropping to 4 x 3 will make your photos fill the screen of a standard TV, and cropping to 16 x 9 will fill the screen of a newer HDTV.

Configure iPhoto to use another image editor

If you prefer to use another image editor, such as Adobe Photoshop, for enhancing your photos, open iPhoto Preferences and choose “In application” from the “Edit Photo” pop-up menu. Find the application you want to use to edit your photos, click Open, and then close iPhoto Preferences. The next time you double-click a photo in iPhoto, it will open in your image editor.
