After you’ve started your iDVD project and have chosen a theme, you’ll want to add your slideshows to your digital portfolio. It’s easy to add multiple slideshows from iPhoto and iMovie. In the topics to follow, you’ll learn how to organize multiple galleries in map view and then burn your digital portfolio to disc.

Add music to a slideshow created in iPhoto

You don’t have to use iMovie to create a slideshow set to music. When you’re putting together your iPhoto slideshow in iDVD, click the Audio button in the media pane and drag the song you want to the speaker icon. By default, the length of your slideshow will be adjusted to fit the length of the song you’ve chosen.

Display your slideshows beyond the TV safe area

By default, iDVD scales your digital photos to fit a space known as the TV safe area. Since most newer TV models can display images beyond the TV safe area, slideshows created in iDVD will be displayed with black borders around the edges. To remove the black borders, open iDVD Preferences, click the Slideshow button, and then deselect the “Always scale slides to TV Safe Area” option.
