Panasonic

Panasonic asked us to decorate a limited edition mobile phone they were launching in Japan only. They wanted covers and an animated ringtone to bring the phone to life and to make it a collectible item. The brief was totally open so we came up with storyboards for spunky ghosts, a pooing monkey, an angry giant Cyclops and a happy hand. By combining each of the animated sequences with music composed specially for the project by Fred, we came up with the final animated ringtone to please the most twisted Japanese phone fiend.

I      Peas

We have an online shop (www.airsideshop.com) where we sell things that we make purely for the pleasure of the making — free of any need to satisfy a client.

The hurdle in this project was imagining a child that likes green vegetables.

With the help of our Macs we were able to create this image and apply it to baby- and child-sized T-shirts, making every parent’s dream a reality.

Battle Royale

We were approached by Metro-Tartan to come up with an idea to help market a film for its UK release.

We watched the film, which is about school kids killing each other on a what they think is a school trip but is actually a crazy game show. We took this still from one of the many bloody sequences.

We then turned the still photographic image provided by the filmmakers into a vector illustration to create a T-shirt. (Also shown here: from top left to bottom right: Battle Royale Boy, Ring, Keybored, Puppy + Kitten, Tennis, Fry-Up, Dude and a T-shirt made for Impotent Fury.

Lost Horizons

We've worked on all of Lemon Jelly’s music packaging to date. This is the band's 2004 Lost Horizons album. We see two versions of the same landscape: by day the city is dull and grey while the countryside entices you to its delights, but by night the countryside disappears into darkness while the city lights up.

These images were created using Maya and rendered to look as if they had been drawn in 2D. We like to hide any hint of the technology we use. We made a music promo on which we ran a camera round the 3D model, still rendering in a flat 2D style. It worked really well.

Rolled Oats + Soft

These bootleg singles for Lemon Jelly had to look like LJ without having the band's logo on them. They were strictly limited editions of 1000.

The designs were created digitally, then screenprinted onto the material. In fact, Soft had an even more limited number of denim sleeves that were embroidered by hand (now selling on eBay for large amounts of cash, we’re told).

Music packaging is a very special thing to Lemon Jelly and we like to make things like this that have a one-off, hand-made feel to them. Bring back the 80s and vinyl.

Orange

The Orange client wanted a series of commercials to bumper a music video programme they were sponsoring. So obviously singing farmyard animals were the solution.

The inspiration behind these commercials came from a kid’s T-shirt we had made (Bear in Tree). We created the Orange characters and brought them to life using Flash.

Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola wanted a summer poster campaign to remind people how refreshing a cold Coke is on a hot day. We thought of it as the Love campaign so we replaced the company's logo with the word Love. It took a while to convince them.

A photograph of the bottle was given to us as a digital file. We mimicked the Coca-Cola font for the word Love on the bottles and then designed the flower-like pattern to sit behind them. We were proud to see the final design all over London last July. It doesn’t have a Coca-Cola logo anywhere on the poster, but it still clearly communicates the brand.
