can I run windows programs on a mac

I just bought my first MAC BOOK PRO. I have many files in my PC that I need to be able to run on my MAC. Especially files created on Scriptware, a Windows based screenwriting program. They do not make a MAC version of the program. What can I do?

You can create a virtual Windows machine on your Mac by using Parallels or VMWare Fusion. Then you can run nearly any Windows program on you Mac.

  • No. You CAN however run the same 'program' if it is the correct version of the software adapted for that platform (Mac or PC). The files either one create however WILL be able to open on either machine, (running their own version of the parent software). EG; a PC running MS Word for PC creates a normal Word document. Mac running MS Word for Macintosh can read that file (provided the software is no older than the PC version i.e. is 'backward compatible'). Hope this helps!
