    Amazing Earphones

    • Written by from Calgary

Bought these from a Bose store in the states and they haven't missed a beat, literally. The sound is great and the noise cancelling amazing, easily comparable to any over ear competitor if not better. Love and use them everyday.

    Blown Away!!!

    • Written by from Saint Robert

I haven't had these that long, but I have to say my first impressions are that they are absolutely amazing headphones! The sound quality is unlike anything I have ever heard out of a set of in-ear headphones. I purchased these as replacements for what I was using because I wanted better sound quality, a snugger fit, comfort, and of course the noise cancelling ability. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the noise cancelling feature worked, but even without it turned on, the QC20i's still provide the wearer an auditory experience worth the cost. The sound produced by these headphones is out of this world! There is plenty of deep, rich bass when there needs to be, but also crystal clear mid and high notes. My only complaint is that I didn't purchase these sooner.

This is the one to get. Period!

    • Written by from SAINT PETERSBURG

I have the QC-15s and the only reason I had not used them more regularly is simple- bulk. With the 20i you have a package that literally will go with you anywhere and performance that is 95% of what the 15's provide. No question the price is also top of the line. However, in this case, it is completely worth it.

This is a fantastic device. Let's get the cost thing out of the way first. It is expensive, so I can appreciate people being nervous about paying so much! However when you try this, the noise cancelling is so incredibly effective you will fall in love with it. I took this on a long haul flight in September 2013 just days after it was released, and it just shut out the background noise of the plane so dramatically it really helped with the journey.

I was also very impressed with the battery life. It managed the entire 11 hour flight without any problems, plus the few hour at both ends to get to the destination too. The device will continue to work as a normal headphones after the battery is gone so no problem there!

Now for some cons. The cables and the microphone clip has a mind of its own so they don't settle very well. I also found that you really have to really pick the right size ear plugs from those supplied, otherwise with the annoyingly insistent cables you will find yourself constantly adjusting them to keep them in your ears.

The other thing I don't really like is the pouch they come in. They are just a little too small for the headphones so you have to wind the cables quite tightly to fit them in the case, which worries me about wear and tear - and these are not cheap!

In conclusion, I love and adore these headphones. They are quite outstanding and well worth the money. The cons are superficial and in no way make me regret buying these. If you are looking for a small, effective noise cancelling headphones you can use daily, as well as the odd long haul flights I think these are your ideal companion.

(NB If you can't try these in the Apple store then goto a Bose store and try them before you buy).

    Depends on what you want

    • Written by from Revensdorf

I've owned and regularly used all of the Bose noise-cancelling headphones and recently got myself a pair of the QC 20i's. What can I say? If you are looking for something really small with decent sound quality and good noise-cancellation, these will be the ones to go for. I really like the design of all of the current Bose in-ear headphones, you hardly notice that you are wearing them at all and the earbuds don't have any tendency to fall out of the ear. Of course, due to the size of these babies, there are some drawbacks as far as the degree of noise-cancellation and sound quality goes, so these things will always be a compromise between the size and the sound quality. If you are into really great noise-cancellation and superior sound, get a pair of QC 15's, in that respect, they are much better than the QC 20's. If your main concern is size, the QC 20's are for you.

I've just discovered that I've never properly heard my music! I bought these a few hours ago at the Apple store and I'm so impressed. The sound is crisp and you can clearly hear all the nuances of your music. So much better than my Bowers & Wilkins C5s! They also fit and stay in my ears much better than other in-ear headphones I've used. I haven't used them in a noisy environment yet but initial tests (my husband shouting at me) show a really good quality of noise cancelling. Can't wait to try them on a long-haul flight this weekend as I now have really high expectations! Yes, they're expensive and the battery pack is a bit fiddly as it's large but the sound quality is outstanding. Also great that the recharge cable fits in a standard USB plug - I just stuck it into my iPhone charger. So impressed I'm writing this...I never review.

    Did you say something ??

    • Written by from Santa Barbara

I'll start saying that this is really a fantastic pair of earphones.
The sound quality is amazing, Bose really did a great job. The fit in the ear is amazing, without pressure, it's really comfortable. (I was worried because I could not try these)
The Aware Mode is also very good, forget the problem with putting and taking your phones off when someone talks to you.
And now for the star of the show, the Active noise canceling technology. SUPERB ! Absolutely fantastic. A really happy costumer here.
I've bought these thinking that I would return, but it's worth the price. It's amazing !
PS : Bose solved the problem of the other phones, If it runs out of battery, you can still listen to your music !

These are fantastic noise canceling in ear headphones. I fly a lot for work and it drowns out the drone noise of the jet engines. Keep up the quality product producing, Bose.

    A little disappointed

    • Written by from calgary

I got this because there were many positive reviews for this headphone.
    Especially regarding noise cancellation.
I tried it at the store and it felt good for those couple of seconds.
When I actually got my pair, I really feel that it's overrated.
It's not that comfortable because my ear can feel the pressure, it's the feeling of an ear plug.
I really don't like that ear plug feeling.
In a quiet room with air ventilation, it is possible to hear this dull weird hiss.
You can still hear yourself typing, other music playing as well as other voices.
I found review saying that this earphone does not work with wind, I haven't tried it personally.
I will test this for a couple more days, may end up returning this.

    Ever So GOOD!!

    • Written by from Faversham

Its difficult to believe just looking at them but "my lord" these things are good, sound is excellent, the noise reduction is something you will have to try to believe reviews cannot do them justice all this without the bulk of Over/On the ear headphones. What i will write is, they turned a noisy and crowded London Tube journey into something pleasurable, and as anyone who takes the London tube will know thats virtually impossible. I recommend these highly, expecially if you commute or travel in noisy environments.

    Not good for sports

    • Written by from Inglewood

These are no good for sports or outside use with wind. I brought them as I assumed they would be great for riding my bike to isolate out the noise of the traffic and so forth. Unfortunately they do not hand wind noise at all, in fact they take the wind noise and amplify it through the speakers making it impossible to listen to the music. These are great however in the house but I have a pair of QC15 for that. Going to see about a refund.

Awesome sound but some functionality and compatibility issues

    • Written by from Heanor

While Bose is at the top of the chart for noise cancelling technology, I couldn't give these headphones 5 stars for the following reasons.

    1. When the battery runs out, the sound keeps going (Bonus over QC15) however sound quality is seriously degraded. Not so bad considering the battery life but if you are on a long or double flight, you better hope for USB on the plane or bring a usb battery.
    2. The short 90 degree jack is a bit difficult to unplug to the point of needing to dig fingernails into the rubber to pry it off
    3. Not compatible with smart case (at least not with iPad mini smart case) - the hole is just a bit too small for the jack. Apple doesn't appear to offer any official extension that supports the microphone / volume function either making it tough to combine the iPad with excellent protection from the smart case AND these amazing earphones
    4. The battery pack can be a in the way, especially if you want to tuck your device into a pocket or even walk with it as it tends to dangle and since the jack is at a 90 degree angle, it will pull on it slightly - recommend folding it up against the back of the device perhaps but then you'll find it tricky to take it out say if you had it in your pocket.

So sound quality and noise cancelling - top notch. Execution / functionality unfortunately needs some work. The fact that it is not compatible with the smart case is simply silly especially in an airplane when you want the stand functionality as well as the noise cancelling.

    Amazing PEACE of Mind

    • Written by from San Jose

I live in a noisy apartment. Since Bose is known for acoustic excellence, I decided to try out the QC-20i. The price is high though worth every cent. After purchasing these, the moment I flipped the ANC switch, my noisy neighbors vanished. This alone is worth substantially more than what I spent on these. Music sounds excellent as you'd expect with Bose; ANC is a bit flaky in that it impacts sound quality slightly though Bose has done better than anyone else is minimizing this impact. The PEACE of mind the QC-20i's provide me with from the urban sprawl I live in makes these one of the best investments since I moved here 5 years ago. Finally PEACE and QUIET when I want it!

First ear phone and so pleased

    • Written by from Hackney

Like others I was concerned over cost and to a point which I valued more music quality or noise cancellation . As this was my first dip into earphones and because I was on holiday and had time on my hand I did some research and shopped around in Florida to see which suited me more. My final decision was the qc 20i. After purchasing and charging I did a 8 hour drive from Daytona to Tampa and back . I had the windows down and the 20i connected to my IPhone where I had downloaded some music to.
The drive was a dream , earphones had cancelled out all road noise you could however still hear if someone blew their car horn so safety was not affected. If you received a call while playing music the volume would reduce automatically so that you would only hear the ringing of your phone .if you decide to accept the call just press the button on the lead. Once the call has ended the music will automatically come back on.
I then had an 8 hour flight and again the background noise was canceled but to a lesser degree. Battery life was more then adequate.
Overall I prefer to use mine on motorways . On long drives through country roads. Excellent and very happy with my purchase.

Had these for six weeks now, they are comfortable over long periods (like 14-hour flights), they stay in place in the gym and the noise cancellation and sound quality are superb. Battery pack is a little strange but easily managed. I'm very happy with them.

If you are realistic about what you want then these are the best headphones

    • Written by from Dublin

I spent about 2 months researching tens of different headphones and after I decided that the noise cancellation is the most important for me I decided to go with bose 20i. Mainly to silence noise in the office, library and the metro.

I have to tell you, I did not know what to expect exactly, but I assure you, if you never tried any noise cancellation headphones before you will be blown away the moment you turn these ones on. I just cant believe how good the noise cancellation is, especially when the music is off!!! I can only hear something if someone talks really close to me. The sound quality is top class, obviously the noise cancellation affects the sound quality slightly but if someone is looking for headphones purely to get the best sound quality then any noise cancellation headphones are a bad choice.

Bose QuietComfort 20i cost me 299 but they are worth it, the build quality is top class.

    Just quietly...

    • Written by from Sydney

These are excellent. Already own the 'old' in ear Bose version and the larger QuietComfort headphones, however, these are better. The noise cancelling is unmatched and the sound is crystal. Very useful on the commute, in the plane, at the gym or to keep the sound of children out... They don't work fantastically though in strong wind. I have had since they arrived in Oz, and have not stopped using them since. Battery life is great also. Definitely recommend.
