      mStand v.s. HiRise for MacBook

I've been using the mStand for a little over a year now, but when Twelve South came out with their new HiRise for MacBook stand I figured I would give it a try. I've been using the mStand for a little over a year now, but when Twelve South came out with their new HiRise for MacBook stand I figured I would give it a try. I'm not going to compare unboxing because functionality it what ultimately matters. I dock/undock my Early 2011 MacBook Pro roughly 5-10 times a week. What is most important to me is that it is a seamless transition. Have laptop, put on stand, and connect cables. The mStand excels at this with its "feet" to catch the laptop and make perfect positioning an ease with each use. The HiRise however, does not have such a feature and this can become a tedious task to get the same position as you had once before. Placing your $3k MacBook Pro on a stand shouldn't be a guessing game, and you definitely shouldn't be worried that it might fall off given the incorrect position. Stand placement is another big issue for me and honestly, I didn't realize it was until I got the HiRise. The stand shouldn't move once placed in the proper position on my desk. The mStand doesn't move. The HiRise does, and abhorrently so. Lastly, elevation is also critical. While the HiRise will get the top of your MacBook Pro screen to roughly 15 1/2", the mStand will give you a full inch more. There is also more downward angle on the body of the Macbook Pro with the mStand. The is bound to be more beneficial to heat dissipation. I have also found it makes it easier to use the keyboard in those instances I forget to turn Bluetooth back on before docking my MacBook Pro. P.S. With the HiRise height set to the lowest point, the back(where the back of your laptop would sit) is at 3 5/8" and the front is at 2 1/8".

      Mine's not wobbly...

My o My HiRise Stand for MacBook arrived today and I have to say I'm delighted with it. It seems very well built and sturdy and everything appears to be even. My only criticism is that I had assumed that it would be possible to adjust the level of tilt, but it isn't. Apart from that, I'm very pleased. As to the previous comments posted, I wonder whether one was just a bad example - it would be interesting to know if the buyer's second purchase was the same. As to the other, yes, the packaging oozes class and expense and I'm sure that does add to the price, but since when has that put off an Apple purchaser? Unpackaging an Apple product is one of those little joys that makes Apple what it is. I'm delighted that Twelve South thought enough about their customers that they would try to emulate that experience also. Good for them. Finally on the price, yes it is a bit costly, but I was prepared to pay the extra in order to have the adjustable stand. As it turns out, I have already adjusted the stand once because I decided I didn't actually need it quite the way up to the top.

Its failing is the base which has no rubber grip, just some black plastic. This means that if you have a smooth surface like you may find on a table or desk, the stand will easily slide around. If you want that feature, this is the perfect stand. I find that it slides enough that you can pull a magsafe cable and drag the stand with laptop off the desk (for example turning you chair). For $70, you shouldn't have to be in search of a rubber mat to set it on.

T Are you searching for a powerful computer to satisfy your professional, educational, and personal needs? The Apple MacBook Pro is just the computer for you. This sleek device runs very smoothly and can perform a multitude of functions for all of your technological needs. Whether you are a business professional, a college student, or simply someone who wants their technological needs met at a faster and more efficient rate, you can’t go wrong with purchasing the MacBook Pro! After using a Dell computer for years, I switched to Apple’s masterpiece last year and have not regretted it for a second. With the Pro, I am able to surf the Internet, produce documents and presentations for my college classes, and stream video at a high speed. Apple has long been recognized as a leader in the technology industry, and the MacBook Pro exemplifies this dominance with its performance, reliability, and accessibility. Performance: What makes the MacBook Pro stand out from other laptops on the market is its ability to perform virtually any technological function you can imagine. From the applications that come standard on the computer such as iTunes, FaceTime, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and many others, installable applications such as the Microsoft Office suite, this computer will complete whatever task you need. This product streams and downloads videos and music at lightning speed, and displays photos with beauty never-before-seen! Reliability: Whether you are using it for a presentation, research, entertainment, or schoolwork, you can count on the MacBook Pro to come through. With a battery life that lasts all day long, a screen that displays brightness at many controllable levels, and a strong speaker to project what is being played, this computer will get the job done. Accessibility: On both sides of the computer are various ports for the computer to be connected to other devices. An HDMI port allows you to display the screen on a high definition monitor such as a television or projector screen. USB ports provide you with the ability to connect other devices to the computer for file sharing. When watching videos or listening to music on your MacBook, you can do so silently with the earphones jack provided. Your computer can also be paired with other Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch for the ultimate experience! No matter what market you look in, the products of the highest quality are going to come at a higher price. Starting at a retail price of $1,499.00, the MacBook Pro can be found in Apple stores, retailers such as Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Target, or university bookstores across the country. Based on my experience with this computer, it is worth every cent. I would recommend this laptop to anyone searching for a computer to satisfy his or her professional, educational, and personal needs. Buy a MacBook Pro and you will be getting things done at a faster pace than any of your competitors!

Its solid, and the laptop does not wiggle, or slide its as solid as a rock. Its raised up so the bottom of the screens match up, with the laptop angled at approximately 30 deg's. This leaves room under the edge of the laptop for my Logitech wireless trackball. As soon as I finish here I'm ordering a second one to keep in my RV for use when I'm on the road. I can't help but wonder if some people are using it upside down, or failing to remove the protective transparent covering over the rubber pads. Mike

Doesn't work properly and doesn't look like Apple

It's not made as well as usual 'apple' things. Materials are not pleasant, and it's not made accurately. Top and bottom parts are not aligned to each other. And It's not made as well as usual 'apple' things. Materials are not pleasant, and it's not made accurately. Top and bottom parts are not aligned to each other. And the most awful thing: it doesn't stand firmly, steady. The top cylinder with laptop holder wobbles even when it's up for a half. When it's in its upper position, it has no support to stay aligned and steady at all. And it goes with difficulty up and down along an inner cylinder so as you can damage yourself while adjusting its height.
