It cuts (some) glare on one side, and both sides provide the privacy filter. You need to sit at least 3 feet away from the screen if you don't want the privacy filter impacting your straight-on view in the edges. It destroys the crispness of the display. You'll need to bump up your brightness and try to adjust your font sizes everywhere (big pain in OSX). It is not remotely as effective in glare reduction as any standard screen that ships with a matte display.

Very disappointed that this product is even available for sale. If your looking to make your display completely private this does the trick...just don't expect to view it yourself. You can only view the middle of the screen and don't even try moving or turning your head. Product should be recalled.

If you look at it straight on you see the middle of the screen perfectly, but because it diffuses visibility from the sides, it makes the outsides of the screen dark. I had to turn my brightness setting all the way up. The glare on the screen is reduced greatly. The privacy from the sides is excellent, however anyone who comes up behind you, even from a distance, has full view. The air bubbles that keep popping up are extremely annoying. I put a ruler in-between my screen and the filter to release where the screen touches the filter and eliminate the bubbles, but that doesn't last. Installation is fairly simple and not difficult.
