BeoPlay H6 Over-Ear Headphones by B&O Play

  • Overview

The BeoPlay H6 over-ear headphones give you authentic sound that's built on a clear midrange and a careful balance between bass and treble. This level of audio quality is delivered by 40 mm custom-designed drivers with neodymium magnets that are perfectly angled to get the best distance and sound direction into your ears. There's also an internal bass port to ensure carefully balanced bass performance from this closed headphone design.

    Optimal sound and fit

To provide the ideal listening experience, B&O PLAY thoroughly studied the shape and curves of the human ear to determine the proper geometries that reduce sound leakage and reveal all the fine details in the music no matter what the volume.

    Top-quality materials

The primary structural components are made of anodized high-grade aluminum, so BeoPlay H6 is surprisingly light as well as robust and scratch-resistant. There's even anodized aluminum on the adjustable slider arm and cover plate to finish the design with a final vibrant touch.

    Superb industrial design

Danish industrial designer Jakob Wagner collaborated with B&O PLAY in shaping BeoPlay H6. His training as a mechanical engineer and industrial designer allowed him to influence all the practical stages of the design process.

If you want heavy over-accentuated bass... to with Beats. I compared these to the B&W P7 and liked these better. There was a crispness to the midranges and highs. The B&W sounded warmer, which to me means a bit muddier. Everyone has their own sense of what sounds good. Try these out and you may feel you have found the best set available.

A large portion of the headphones is plastic, but it is excellent quality with no visible molding seams. These headphones are quite neutral sounding. The mids are clear and precise while the highs are crisp without causing discomfort. I tested the B&W P7 and M&D MH40 along with these. These were the only headphones that could be played at a high volume with little discomfort. Soundstaging is by far the best among the three. I was fairly convinced that I was actually at a live performance when listening to lossless AIFF files through my external DAC. However, the bass on these headphones is slightly less powerful than it should be. The bass dynamics on these left something to be desired, say during the last 5 minutes of Beethoven's Symphony #9. Unlike the other two headphones, the H6 sounded great with a wide variety of music. The P7 also had excellent mids and highs but sounded harsh when listening to violin concertos. If classical music and the like represents the majority of your music library, these are the best headphones under $500.

Beautiful construction but lacking in stage presence

I am going to be completely honest....These headphones are a STUNNING composition of high end materials. From the pebble grain leather covering the all aluminum I am going to be completely honest....These headphones are a STUNNING composition of high end materials. From the pebble grain leather covering the all aluminum head band to the lambskin ear cups and the centripetal laser etched aluminium exterior speaker plates with the B&O logo. The sprite green interior lining on the black model with L and R lettering is sharp too. Even the box they come in is on point. These are definately the headphones for the 1%. The downside...the included accessories are a joke. The cloth bag is well a sham-wow sewed into a large cloth case with a b&o metal drawstring clasp. The cord is solid and detachable with nice aluminium end prongs which are not too big so you can use these with your phone case ect.. The inline remote is responsive and has a nice tactile feel with a b&o logo but at this price it should be aluminium also. Additionally, I agree with other reviews there should be a hard case and a woven nylon cord included(i.e. like V-moda headphones). The really bad news and thus my four star review is the sound quality is sharp and flat. The soundstage feels small and not loud enough. If you are a classical music enthusiast this might be fine or even prefered. But for almost any other musical genre I think you will find these headphones lacking. Indeed I compared these to the RHA20i and there was no comparison! These headphones faltered. The RHA's blew them away. I found the H6's not worhty at this price point. BUt man...these sure are some comfortable and beautiful kit...all the other passengers in first class will view you with a bit of envy.
