I liked my Soundstick II speakers better, but those die and can't be fixed.

I could connect all Apple devices vie bluetooth and wifi without a problem. However, I didn't like the fact that the speaker was visible for other devices outside the house. Meaning, our neighbors could connect to the speaker and start playing their music (??) What I didn't like The sound is not great, but decent. Not sure the $400 price tag is justified. Also, there is no way to equalize the sound output. Starts up at full volume sometimes. I also didn't like the fact that the remote control app disconnects after 10-15min so every time you want to use the remote control you need to "shut down" the app and restart it. Not cool. OK sound, not great ( sounds a little muffled in the mid and highs, bass is good). HORRIBLE HK tech support ( That's why only 1 star, that and the full volume issue). Called them 6 times as I think there is a firmware issue. Sometimes when you power on it starts at FULL VOLUME, bad for speakers AND internal amp)!! After the language barrier ( BAD Chinese/ English) I was promised 3 times a supervisor would call me back. NOPE. They also REALLY need a remote as when the phone rings you have to find the app which is open and hit pause. Forget about using the horrible HK app as it times out VERY fast and has to find the speaker again. The speaker often disconnects from the sound source so you end up listening to your iOS device only. This is very annoying, especially for such an expensive device. Now, what really bothered me is that there is no remote control. Yes, I know, for many people not necessary but why should I always need my iPhone or iPad to turn the volume up/down, change songs, etc. Also, you cannot change the sound source from the app, e.g. from wifi to optical, or from optical to wifi/bluetooth, etc. Which means, you need to do it manually in the speaker. Finally, why there is not an option to turn on/off the device from the app? Again, you have to do this manually in the device. In sum, great looks, excellent choice of connectivity but only decent sound, and definitely not mature enough execution. I don't like to return things but this one is definitely going back. I liked my Soundstick II speakers better, but those die and can't be fixed. I suspect this will have the same problem. Forget about support from HK. If you want a paperweight, this is an expensive one if it dies.

HK Aura Wireless -- AWESOME Sound & Easy Set-up

Honestly, it only took 3 minutes to connect my iPhone to the speaker with bluetooth. I used the volume slide in iTunes on my phone to increase/decrease the soun Honestly, it only took 3 minutes to connect my iPhone to the speaker with bluetooth. I used the volume slide in iTunes on my phone to increase/decrease the sound level of the speaker easily and without getting up from my seat. Then I tried to connect my Macbook Pro with bluetooth and maybe it took 5 minutes. I was shocked at how easy it was to do this! Because I'm not a computer geek. Love the sound quality, totally better than I expected and love the look of the speakers!! :-D. I downloaded the app, but never opened it because of all the poor reviews. And don't plan on opening it. While connected to my Mac, to change the bass levels I opened the Equalizer in iTunes and was able to change the bass and total sound make-up by using this procedure rather than using the HK App. I manually set the speakers sound level to ~1/2 volume and was able to use the volume control in iTunes or the volume control on my keyboard to increase/decrease the sound. I wanted the sound to be loader, so I manually slid the volume on the Aura up a bit and was still able to control the volume with iTunes or the keyboard. It seems that the max sound level can be set manually on the Aura and then you can adjust the sound lower by using iTunes or the keyboard volume control. I like this, I can adjust the volume down to zero either way and not have to get out of my chair. Absolutely LOVE this speaker!!! Gonna buy another for my office at work!
