A does everything well (almost) printer if...

Have used this printer for the past three weeks. Does everything very well except photos which are mediocre. Print speed is fast and text quality is very good. Have used this printer for the past three weeks. Does everything very well except photos which are mediocre. Print speed is fast and text quality is very good. Set up is a snap. Some of the advanced features require careful reading of the user manual (not supplied) available on line or downloaded. Printed a 268 page (some light on text) user manual in about 9 minutes using the auto duplexer which worked without a hitch. Still running on the supplied start-up cartridges all of which show about 75% or more remaining after 396 pages printed. I expect to get the predicted 2500 pages from the 950XL cartridges I'll use next. An economical printer to operate. It has every feature I could ever need including it's own e-mail address. Other than the paper tray being a little flimsy (which is typical of most printers) it seems to have a sturdy build quality. The touchpad is large and simple to navigate. It is however, rather large and noisy. All in all a good printer for the small office or a home "if" you have the space for it. I would recommend this printer as one to be investigated if you are in the market for a new one.

Do Not Buy - Should Not be on the Apple Printer List

1st the good: - Print quality and speed are fine. The Bad - software and support are not good in my view - if you are an tech-head expert at troubleshooting 1st the good: - Print quality and speed are fine. The Bad - software and support are not good in my view - if you are an tech-head expert at troubleshooting buy it - otherwise leave it alone. Couldn't duplex print for a while (even though this is supposed to be a selling point) - there is HP forum chatter on this - and finally found a round-about (non intuitive) way to get it to happen. Worked Ok for a while but now I cannot print anything unless it is straight after it is turned on - jobs get stuck in the print queue and it won't print after going into sleep mode. search this problem and you will find that it seems to be a significant issue for HP printers - with connections dropping out etc...all the time. HP troubleshooting is not much help - convoluted and complicated solutions that are not plain english involving static IP addresses - turning off / un plugging / plugging back / ensuring it is not plugged into a power board etc....... and the support call line is not open weeknights after hours - amazing for a major company. I bought this because an AppleStore employee recommended it - thought it may have been 'tried and tested' to accord with Apple's 'it just works' reputation....sadly not That will do....

Seriously welcome to the only printer I paid a large sum for that can't even print a page range of 8 without freaking out and stop printing on page 4.
