My only complaint with the system is I live in an apartment complex on the third floor and sometimes, most of the time, my geofencing doesn't work which mean my lights don't turn on when arriving home. Well with a hand full of groceries and the nearest switch in the kitchen this can be a nuisance. With the tap I place it right inside my front door and when I get home I choose my scene and bam lights are one. I also like using the giant button to turn the lights off at night and when I leave, instead of having to get my phone out. I can't wait to see what Philips does with Homekit in iOS 8 but if you're debating on buying the tap I would say go ahead and do it! Totally worth it and works as expected..... Oh and no AA batteries required!!!!

It can be mounted anywhere or carried around, can be set for 3 scenes in addition to powering all the lights off, and it requires zero batteries to operate. That's right, it runs on the energy it gets from you pushing the button. I put mine in a hallway and set it for an all lights on scene, a night time scene, and a movies scene. I have 6 bulbs split in 2 rooms and I love using the Tap to control them all. I like that I can reprogram it if I change my mind without having to rewire my apartment. By the way the mounting is easy, it has 2 stickies on the back, just peel them off and stick it to the wall. I'm writing this review after using it for a little while, I'll update this if things change but right now it has earned 5 stars from me.

If you aren't using the Hue lighting yet, don't forget to purchase this with your first Hue bulbs! Just much easier to control the system when coming home or going to bed!

      Better than expected

However, I finally bit the bullet as I was starting to find the duct tape we'd placed over the regular light switch ridiculous. Happy to report that it works perfectly. I'm not (currently) having any problems with it. Fingers crossed that continues. Set up of the device up in the Hue app is straightforward and it is quick and easy to make changes. You do have to press the buttons on the device firmly and dead centre for them to work every time, but once you get used to the feel of it, it works really well. Reason for only giving four stars is the price. A $60 light switch is pretty crazy. Ah well, I think I'm going to buy a couple more...

Because you actually need not to tap but press each button until the device clicks. They're four pins behind it you can see them. And depending of the button you press each has to click. Don't fear to activate only button one! But actually you have to press the other buttons or zones individually as deep as button one until they click! Not just press them.
