Use a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire Adapter, then use a Firewire 800-400 adapter cable: For example Be Use a Thunderbolt-to-Firewire Adapter, then use a Firewire 800-400 adapter cable: For example Belkin FireWire 800/400 9-Pin/6-Pin Cable (2 m/6.6 ft.) on Apple's store. FW800 to/from FW400 just requires a simple cable adapter, as FW800 is basically two FW400 data paths in a single connector.

I have the same question. Looks like another thread in here has someone stating that a 800 to 400 c I have the same question. Looks like another thread in here has someone stating that a 800 to 400 cable can be used with this adapter. If that is correct then we're in business. I think I'm gonna take the plunge and buy one. If it doesn't work I've got enough 800 hard drives sitting around that the investment won't be wasted.
