  • Overview

The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

By far, the most badly designed accessory for any Macbook or Mac Air or Mac Pro is the AC adapter. No matter how careful you are, the adapter breaks and shorts out long before it should; it's the Achilles heel of Apple products. At this writing, my early 2014 Macbook Air is like new, but the AC adapter just shorted out. Please, Apple, there's no reason for this.

      Charger broke within 4 months

After transporting my charger in my backpack, I was surprised to have found the cord to be frayed. Looks like a lot of people are having quality issues as well.

Apple's iphone cords have the same issue, but thanks to alternate companies that produce iphone cords with different designs, I can rely on those. Unfortunately there aren't any non-Apple products for these and I have to buy another one of these garbage chargers, but next time the charger breaks (presumably in the next few months), I won't bother with macbooks anymore. It's not worth spending $79 every few months just to keep the laptop running.

      Terrible Design!

The magne The design of this charger is unbelievably bad. It will not stay connected. If I even move the computer from my lap to the table it will disconnect. The magnet is not strong enough to support the wider design. The previous design layed flush against the computer so it would not pop off at the slightest movement of the computer, but would disconnect if the cord was tripped over. I have been left stranded without a charged battery twice now. So to prevent this from happening again, I have to buy an extra cable to carry in my backpack. I understand that the MacBook pro that came out after this one (I bought early 2016), has a new design. I will not buy anymore Apple products. I do not mind paying 3 times more for products that give me no trouble, but the newer Apple products are no better than Android or Windows products. In the last 18 months, I have purchaed a new MacBook Pro, iPhone 7, apple watch, and iPad. I have regretted every purchase except the iPad. I have spent over 50 hours troubleshooting problems with these products and they still do not work properly. I am so frustrated! None of them work as well as their predecessors. Don't waste your money on Apple!

      BREAKING THE BAD BORDER

This is my second MacBook Air and the second anxiety-based breakdown that is dealing with Apple's power charger. I'll skip the nightmare of the last laptop. I'm This is my second MacBook Air and the second anxiety-based breakdown that is dealing with Apple's power charger. I'll skip the nightmare of the last laptop. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I thought starting over would make everything better. What did Einstein say? The definition of madness is doing the same thing under the same circumstances and expecting a different outcome? Yeah, that's me. This time, the charger: 1) falls out at the slightest (and I mean slightest) movement of the computer; 2) began to fray within days of usage; 3) by 10-12 months in, had to be manipulated manually in order to persuade it to light up at all; (whispering gently to it seemed to help, as it does with my pit bull, Ruby); and, 4) once lit, would stay lit for some random, unpredictable period of time of its own liking, then it would turn itself off, well before the machine was--or even close to--fully charged. Forgive my venting. I've had to buy, I think, some five chargers over 2 laptops. Now it's personal. I feel like Will Munny facing off with Little Bill in Unforgiven. I will never buy another Apple product again..As God is my witness.
