Apple 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter for MacBook Air

  • Overview

    The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

    When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

    Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

    This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

    Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

      Broke too soon

      Quite careful with my equipment. This one simply stopped working under no significant stress conditions. Quality control alert.

      Worst Apple product or accesory

      This is like a bad dream. When I saw the reviews I thought they were joking. I feel like sending the entire laptop back because of the adapter. It falls off for This is like a bad dream. The new MagSafe 2 hasn't been available for that long - only since the new 2012 MBA's came out in mid-June. The new MagSafe 2's charger attachment magnet is incredibly weak and will detach at the slightest provocation. Or unhappy thought. Or suspicious look. This product is terrible and Apple should fix this as soon as possible.

      Terrible, but what are you going to do?

      These cables never seem to last more than a couple of years, and for the last stretch are always held together by electrical tape. They heat up near the connect These cables never seem to last more than a couple of years, and for the last stretch are always held together by electrical tape. They heat up near the connector when in use (notably when doing anything processor-intensive), and over time the jacket starts breaking apart exposing the wires. I'm about to buy my third cable for a three and a half year old MacBook Air.

Since getting the laptop in 2012, I've gone through FOUR chargers. Each time, the cord has broken right next to where it plugs into the computer. At this point I'm feeling exasperated. My family has purchased nearly every Apple product available throughout the years. This is making me seriously reconsider where I'll be getting my next laptop.

      Poor quality and not likely covered by warranty

      I'm on my third charger after having my MacBook Air for a little over a year. The cord is very delicate and cheap so it is very easy to damage simply by wrappin I'm on my third charger after having my MacBook Air for a little over a year. The cord is very delicate and cheap so it is very easy to damage simply by wrapping it around the charger. The magnetic cling feature is not helpful because the charger is not secure to the computer and will easily fall off. I would not have purchased a MacBook Air if I would have known that I would have to spend so much money replacing the charger. They are cheaply made, yet so expensive. Additionally, if there is damage to the cord (which happens easily) it is not covered under warranty.
