    Ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

With 802.11ac technology and a powerful beamforming antenna array, AirPort Extreme gives you up to 3x faster Wi-Fi and a stronger, clearer signal.1 And because it transmits at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time, your wireless devices will automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest performance possible.

    image.alt.pdp-airport-design

    Designed with performance in mind.

With the antennas at the top of the elevated design, AirPort Extreme now has a higher platform for dispersing the signal. We also increased the number of antennas. There are now six of them — three for the 2.4GHz band and three for the 5GHz band. Together with 802.11ac technology, they let you connect faster, farther, and with more power than ever before.

Easy setup for iOS and OS X.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Extreme and use the built-in setup assistant to create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you’re using a Mac, use the built-in AirPort Utility. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.

Share your hard drive or printer.

AirPort Extreme can turn any external USB hard drive into a secure drive you can share across your Wi-Fi network. So all the documents, videos, photos, and other files instantly become available to anyone, Mac and PC users alike. You can even connect a printer and share it wirelessly.

    Compatibility and security.

Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Extreme. That’s because it’s compatible with devices using the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac specifications. And since AirPort Extreme features a built-in firewall that protects your network from malicious Internet attacks, you can enjoy the web with peace of mind.

      Great Range Increase

Replaced a 5th generation and got between 4 and 10 times better N signal in various parts of our house that used to suffer. Easy migration as well.

Range wise, I haven't found much of an improvement, but then again it could be my house. I still have to use another AP EXPRESS to extend my network in my house. Simple to set it up and looks good too.

The Best Router on The Market!

I know that routers aren't the most profitable area in the Apple's product lineup, but they are one of those small elements that keep the ecosystem intact. This is my 4th router from Apple: - A1034 - A1354 - A1264 - A1521 and I wish that, in a year or two, there will be a new Router from Apple for me to buy

It was working normally, however, I noticed that my webpages were taking longer to load and the streaming video from my Apple TV were sputtering and buffering. I wasn't sure what kind of improvement I could expect by upgrading to an Airport Extreme, but in one word: BLAZING FAST! My download speeds are now almost tripled. Shortly after setting up the system, I had to run the speed test several times just to make sure it was really true. My webpages on my Macbook Pro and iPhone load almost instantaneously. Streaming video from my Apple TV is now sputter free.... Setup was ridiculously easy using the Airport setup utility. I timed it: I plugged it in at 5.46pm and by 5.57pm I was enjoying super fast speeds. Highly recommended. All my settings from my old Airport Express were seamlessly transferred to my new Airport Extreme. It would be a shame if Apple discontinued manufacturing these routers because there is no comparable product that offers such a painless and pleasurable user experience.

      Works just fine

I bought an Airport extreme for the studio where I had poor reception for my old Airport. Plugged it in and was up and running in just a couple of minutes.
