Let me tell you in advance it wasn't an easy decision, I especially waited a few months for a new release (infinite black). There's something about the way it's built that assures durability, I speak for myself because I'm very finicky upon how, when, who, where, and what I do with my accessories. I currently have them hooked up to my Apogee DUET/Macbook Air and use it for producing music/dj mixing on A Numark NS7II. Now, anything with exposed wiring is a big NO, anything "On the ear" is also a NO. I love the Pro's soft leather it's freakin soft like you just want to oil it up with leather treatment for the heck of it. The "Over Ear" definitely a win, I've slipped away into each note and vocals in a fully occupied living room with the Bose Lifestyle Surround System nearly full blast. This purchase made me listen to my extensive library and it just complimented every song so well, I listen to R&B, Hip Hop, Dance, Dubstep, Rap, Pop, etc. My second choice would have the been the Beats Executive. Lastly, I've invested a pretty penny in my studio, therefor need to be 100% satisfied with the sound quality especially at 2AM. I hope this review helps with your investment.

      Hyper-consumption at it's finest

These limited edition Dre Beats were non-functional in less than a year and finally broke,..literally. These were used in hours and hours of mixing music. Armed with a 13" Macbook and a Traktor S4, these headphones get really tiresome and heavy really fast. After about 25-30 min of use they feel like cement blocks on your head and neck. I normally tend to use one ear for listening to the track ready to be mixed since they (Beats) have a swivel function on each ear cup. That was the one the main factors why I chose these headphones and their magnesium metal material. After prolonged of swiveling on both ear cups, there was a slight intermittent static like sound coming from these headphones. Unbeknownst to me I was in fact slicing the inner cable that runs from the ear cup to through head piece out the ear cup. When the ear cup actually fell off, yes fell off then it was evidently clear as to why weeks prior there was static in the monitoring of sound. I was left with a paper weight that has a serial number and computerized etching of Dr. Dre's signature. Oh they joy. I replaced them with Shure's SRH750DJ at a fraction of the cost and could not be happier. Frugal, lighter, flexible. I will admit the bass from the Beats vs. Shure is slightly superior, but I purchased them (Shure) for their longevity and prolonged use and after year of use, they still live.

      Not Monster's typical customer, but...

After having tried every pair of headphones/earbuds/in I am a moderately obese former pro drummer with a profound hearing loss in one ear and a few extra bucks. After having tried every pair of headphones/earbuds/in-ear monitors to try to counter the emotionally devastating effects of no longer being able to hear music in true stereo, I finally decided to break down and give these a try. At first, I didn't like them. They're big, heavy, and the white ones I had to get (they were out of black) were just a tad ostentatious. But they work, and do so beautifully. Arguably, the finest set of headphones I have ever experienced. And in the end, their weight and whatever guilt I may feel about wearing a very expensive set of headphones in public almost appeals to my latent narcissism. So sue me.

      Sexay !

I just got mine in the mail and I'm in love *_* ! The sound is really amazing. I've been a Beats buyer since they've been released, and I figured it was time I just got mine in the mail and I'm in love *_* ! The sound is really amazing. I've been a Beats buyer since they've been released, and I figured it was time to upgrade my ear buds and solo's to the pro's and I'm really happy with my decision. The only thing I would change is the carrying case. You guys really cheaped out there. I'd for sure make a hard case since they're so rugged!

Even in a crowded e I don't think I could have been happier with the purchase of these headphones. I've used plenty of headphones as my dj career has taken off. Even in a crowded environment with speakers on full blast, you somehow manage to slip away into your own world. The only thing you will feel is the bass on your chest from the clubs subwoofers. These beats are built to last it all. As a Dj I needed something sturdy, high quality, and had noise cancellation. When it comes to mixing you don't seem to be overwhelmed with treble or bass. It's the perfect blend leaving you in shock and awe.

      Outstanding Sound, Quality, Value

Well, I guess I should start by saying I am not the type of person most people think of when they think of Beats. I'm a retired military guy almost 70 years old Well, I guess I should start by saying I am not the type of person most people think of when they think of Beats. I'm a retired military guy almost 70 years old. Though dozens of the guys at the military gym I use do have them, I've been fairly content with my Bose SoundTrues and Klipsch Studios. After spending $300 on Bose QC25s, and have them work on and off and finally die at the one year mark, I was ready for something more durable, thicker wires, and reliable. I waited until they went on sale in my military exchange and got the Black/Silver ones for $230. They came through perfectly. I held my breath as I set them up, not knowing if they were going to be too heavy, too much bass, or what. I'm not a big bass guy. I like some of it with classical music and some jazz, but a lot of my music is pop, J-Pop, C-Pop, opera, and soundtracks. My time in the military exposed me to a lot of different cultural music. Well, I am happy to say that these headphones, set with Flat, Treble Booster, or even Bass Booster EQs from my iTunes Library, made every sample I selected sound wonderful. As I said, I'm not a big bass fan but I like sweeping orchestrations in classical and pop...and these headphones did them beautifully...almost like I was surrounded by the orchestra! I never got that from my Bose or Klipsch. I guess the fact that these are 50mm drivers (and not 40) makes a difference. The real test for me, though, is the high vocals (I listen to a lot of Italian tenors, as well as a lot of Japanese/Chinese/Latina female pop artists). The mids were equally there, most notably in concert and jazz selections. The trebles, however, were very crisp and breathing and word pronunciation came through very clearly. I am by no means an audiophile, but I love how these headphones sound, the musical presence they provide, and their ability not to distort or drown out the mids or trebles. In some pop songs with orchestration, these headphones bring out the low string sounds very well, something missing from my Bose. I'm not into a lot of other genres----country, R&B, hip-hop, but these Beats perform admirably for my mostly pop, rock, classical, and jazz collections of songs. They are outstanding build quality, but do weigh about 8 ounces more than my Bose, but that is not an issue for me as I have a large head to keep them from moving around. Another bonus---no batteries, yet they isolate sound almost as well as my Bose noise-cancelling headphones did, but they are not active noise-cancelling of course. A major bonus---my iPod Nano and new iPod Touch (Gen 6) play very efficiently at 40-50% of volume with these. The Beats Pros have very low ohms and high sensitivity, which means they don't require a lot of your device's battery power, which is good for iPod/iPhone users. Some other brands require an amp as the ohms are so high, but these seem very well suited to small mobile devices. I have no need for an amp unless I wanted to be drowned completely in bass. My Bose QC25s, which broke, required 70% volume compared to these 40-50% for the same listening volume, and the noise-cancelling technology in the Bose hurt my eardrums sometimes. All in all, I'm very pleased with these outstanding headphones, and at my age I'm pretty hard to please. I have 90 days to return these to the military exchange for a refund, but I've decided they're $230 well spent. In the back of my mind I think I read where Apple or Beats changed the sound signature on these from the original heavy bass sound. Now, these are very pleasing to a guy who, as I said, is not a huge heavy bass fan. If you are, you'll still like these as with Bass Booster or Treble Reducer, you can make them bass strong. These are tremendous quality and value compared to my flimsy Bose that broke so quickly. I am glad Beats made a headphone that provides excellent listening for my type of music. These are going to be my favorite headphones very soon.
