I took a chance and, at this point, I've found that the earbuds deliver excellent sound . I'm no ostentatious audiophile, but I am picky. These buds deliver on the bass, yes, but they are able to replicate vocals wonderfully. Everything from Leontyne Price's Aida to Tom Wait's low pitched growl. So much better than the Apple earbuds packaged with the iPhones. Love them now and hope that they will last through the warranty period. I won't pay more. Than $100 for buds because I think of them as consumables that should be replaced yearly.

On plane flights they are great for listening to movies , music, playing white noise on a loop for sleeping and especially for canceling out the plane crew making announcements about credit cards. I did have one issue with the control buttons working on and off , I called apple and they sent me out a box, and returned a new pair all within 7 days, very hassle free. Three of my kids have them and have been using them actively for hands free , riding buses to sports meets, flying etc for years. I typically burn through at least 1 pair of $100.00 headphones per year (plus all the iphone free earbuds), none of those (klipsch, audiofly, ironman-yurbuds, bose) have delivered the quality of sound or construction as these. I don't expect to need to find a new product anytime soon.

      Surprisingly Good Updated Product

The sound is incredible, even though a whole lot I've been an avid fan of urBeats for some years now— always faithfully buying whatever edition was the latest. The sound is incredible, even though a whole lot of people don't seem to appreciate bass-heavy clarity. They work fantastically well with my iPod Touch 6th generation, and seem to support the full range of sound provided by the new port. I'm only writing this review because I noticed a change in the product version which I had thought meant nothing, but realized was a subtle hardware change that made the urBeats more reliable. The change between this new rendition and the previous generation is barely noticable: they extended a rubber gasket near the base of the cord side. The result is (likely) a direct improvement to the last beats I had (which broke at this same spot, which is, despite popular belief, the primary reason these headphones tend to break). This fix came as a surprise to me: I was expecting a pair of Beats identical to my old ones, but the new ones are improved. I haven't experienced any issues yet, and the wires are holding up wonderfully. A recommended buy for people who've had Beats and lost them to wear and tear. And if you want sound: please, these ARE the best on the market. Worth every penny.

But if someone spends $100 (plus tax) expecting to last 2 - 3 months, then go for it, it's your best option (perhaps). I purchased these headphones on April 14 2015, and I use them 15 - 20 hours a week normally. By mid May, the microphone (left) stopped working all of a sudden. Then the right bud started to make noise, and by mid June it died, then a few days after that, the left bud died. July 7th, I took them to the Verizon store where I bought them. We checked very carefully to see any damages, but they looked as good as a brand new pair. I was able to exchange them for the same pair (for free) since I was inside the 90 day police. I thought that this was very nice, in thinking that maybe I didn't take care of them as well (though I couldn't see any thing wrong, plus I'm very picky on headphones and careful), or else, I thought maybe they just were defective. I started to be even far more careful in using these new pair. The same usage hours as before, and by mid September, exactly the same thing happened, microphone and right bud died all of a sudden, and about 1 week or 10 days later, the left bud died also. Verizon told me to call Apple. I did, and explained to them what has been happening even before. I asked if these headphones have any limit as far as usage hours, and they said it will be at least 10,000 hours before experiencing any trouble. My usage for both pairs had been at the max 100 hours a month, so about 250 - 300 hours total, because each pair lasted 3 months at the most. They accepted to exchange them with the same new pair for free. Ok, I returned them by October 8th, I got a new pair, about 1 week after, 3rd week of October 2015....... All right, guess what?? Today is January 19th, 2016, so about 3 months after I received the 3rd new pair, aaaaaand... exactly the same thing is happening, by now the right bud has died, not sure about the mike because I have made sure not to use it (means talking through it) but I'll check later. They just look so pretty, and again, they look as just getting them out of the box, brand new, no damages, no tear offs, just...... From a good point of view, I guess I was lucky to exchange them 3 times within 9 months, but now I can't exchange them anymore, I have not tried to call, though I have all recites and papers since the first pair, I'm just tired of this and I'll never buy another pair from urBeats, and surely I'm not spending $100 and plus just for 2 or 3 months use. Maybe I'll go back to the white headphones, not sure, as I'm very picky on the sound, a good sound, but who knows, I may find something good.
