The materials are great and the sound is, while not perfect, pretty darn good. Certainly, the sound is extremely bass-heavy, but these earphones are designed for basslovers, so that's not a draw. At first sight, they seem like amazing value for the money. That's why half the reviewers give them 5 stars - they rate them immediately after buying. The other half rate them 1-2 stars instead, because they rate them after using them for a few months. And most of us experience the same thing - they break. A lot. I've now had 5 different pairs of the latest generation in less than a year. Four of them are replacements, and none has ever lasted more than 12 weeks before they die, for no particular reason. No moisture, no physical stress, no heavy use or extreme conditions, all proper care taken. Dead. Broken. Don't be as stupid as I was - do not buy this. Just don't. You'll regret it if you do.

I took a chance and, at this point, I've found that the earbuds deliver excellent sound . I'm no ostentatious audiophile, but I am picky. These buds deliver on the bass, yes, but they are able to replicate vocals wonderfully. Everything from Leontyne Price's Aida to Tom Wait's low pitched growl. So much better than the Apple earbuds packaged with the iPhones. Love them now and hope that they will last through the warranty period. I won't pay more. Than $100 for buds because I think of them as consumables that should be replaced yearly.

      Honest Review of urBeats

Pros: -Good noise cancellation -Good emphasis on bass -Beautiful and supposedly sturdy design -Does not allow its emphasis on bass to distort overall music Pros: -Good noise cancellation -Good emphasis on bass -Beautiful and supposedly sturdy design -Does not allow its emphasis on bass to distort overall music quality -Pause and volume control functions Cons: -Price tag -Weighted and slightly heavier than most earphones -*In my opinion, urBeats does not beat standard $20 earphones you can buy at your local pharmacy store. It's hard to describe, but if you have your expectations set high, thinking that maybe these $100 earphones will blow you away when it comes to sound quality, prepare to be mildly disappointed.* I give this product 4 stars. While it is beautiful, feels durable, and pretty much does what it tells you it does, for $100, I expected more in terms of sound quality. If you can afford to spend this much money on earphones, go for it. But if you can't, don't fret, you're not really missing out on much. Don't get me wrong, these ARE GOOD earphones, but NOT GREAT as they were hyped up to be. Also, many people on here are saying that these break within a couple months or more. I cannot confirm nor deny that, but with that in mind,if these DO break within 2-3 months or less, assume my review is actually 3/5 stars.

I liked the volume control & microphone built into the wire. But then one of the ear pieces will stop working. So you go into the apple store to get it repaired, they have to send it out & you gotta go the next few days with no ear buds or some inferior backups. This happened to me FIVE TIMES in the span of one year. Luckily it was still under warranty, but that is besides the point. I suspect what you are really paying for is the brand name: Beats & Apple. I doubt they will improve on this technology since Apple phased out headphone jacks. It is really disappointing the way Apple products have been heading lately. They are taking away more and more customer options (don't get me started on the removal of the 5 star rating system and Genius playlist abilities on the iPhone). If this continues, I won't be surprised if they lose their standing in the technology field and people flock to other brands.

I've had them for about two weeks. Everyone I've talked to who has them says they go through about 5 pairs a year. In summation: these earbuds have wasted my time, which I find SUPER irritating.

      Urbeats, so much to complain

Not as i expected since it cost to much. Original earpod from iphone was so much better than this overpriced product. The sound its produce can't seem to be on my expectation. Waste of money, please don't advertise this product anymore. Should have collab with another good company out there such as SUDIO which they design for iphone user, identically same with the earpod. AND SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS OVERPRICED PRODUCT
