  • Overview

The Magic Keyboard combines a sleek new design with a built-in rechargeable battery and enhanced key features. With an improved scissor mechanism beneath each key for increased stability, as well as optimized key travel and a lower profile, the Magic Keyboard provides a remarkably comfortable and precise typing experience. It pairs automatically with your Mac, so you can get to work right away. And the battery is incredibly long-lasting — it will power your keyboard for about a month or more between charges.

I even asked Apple Chat Support, but they didn't know either. Well, the verdict is in! Thankfully, it paired just fine with my Windows 7 Lenovo ThinkPad. Also, I really like the type feel. Hopefully, this review will be helpful for anyone who is on the fence and needs it for a work PC in addition to their Mac.

Easy to pair, very easy to get used to.

I use an iPad most of the time at work, and I'm very used to typing on a flat surface, and I wanted a keyboard that felt more like that. I was able to play around with the new Macbook in an Apple Store and fell in love with the keyboard, but I couldn't afford the price tag or the smaller screen size. This keyboard is exactly what I wanted to fill the gap. The smaller keys are not quite as flat as the Macbook, but they are still more stable and easier to push. My typing accuracy has increased tremendously since I purchased this keyboard. If you like big keys that make an audible click, this is not the keyboard to you. Having full size function keys is also very nice, and helps when I'm trying to pause iTunes. The new arrow keys are very different, and have required a little getting used to. I keep having to look down at them to make sure that my fingers are on the correct keys. I'm sure this will pass with time and more use. Overall, the Magic Keyboard is a great device if you are looking for a new keyboard for a desktop Mac, but may not be worth it if you are already completely satisfied with your current keyboard.

      Amazing!

I had my doubts given how flat the keyboard and the keys are, but I'm finding that the Magic Keyboard is a nice upgrade to the original keyboard, which was great. You just have to learn to minimize your strokes and movements, so there is a bit of a learning curve. The action is very nice and the keys are very responsive. Excellent job, Apple. I think my productivity is going to improve with this new keyboard and the Magic Trackpad, which I also am digging!

Great keyboard with one minor issue

Wasn't quite sure what to expect about this keyboard that came with my Late 2015 iMac 5K 27" computer (paired with a TrackPad2). Turns out it is a very nice key Wasn't quite sure what to expect about this keyboard that came with my Late 2015 iMac 5K 27" computer (paired with a TrackPad2). Turns out it is a very nice keyboard to type on. Very much like a high quality laptop keyboard. I was previously using a large two year old gaming mechanical keyboard which was also a joy to type on - but curiously the week my iMac arrived the mechanical keyboard failed. This keyboard arrived pre-paired with my iMac, but also works fine on other devices. It is very portable so definitely possible to carry with my iPad Air 2 or any other IOS, Windows, etc. tablet. I normally use a Logitech keys-to-go with the iPad but this keyboard is so nice and almost the same size. Keyboard is very well built - took minimal time to get used to typing on it. Very similar to a laptop. Works perfectly in Windows 10 under BootCamp on my iMac. It just worked during the install and setup - no Bluetooth pairing/configuration was needed. Biggest negative for me is the lack of a numeric keys. I am getting by but I do hope someone releases a matching wireless numeric keypad for when I am working in spreadsheets at home. I also think Apple went a bit too far keeping the size small - an extra top row for function keys would also be nice.

It was perfect but it went nuts on me and would not hold a connection and would not type numbers.. it was old and it decided it to call it quits.. and I ran out to replace it today and thought that this would be the same but without batteries. Its so flat. I have had to write a report tonight and my wrists are killing me! Its not at all ergonomic.. why no legs? Why no back light ? I dont mind the keys being more shallow, i can live with that kind of a change but when it does not work for basic healthy typing position what is the point? I use an external keyboard because the keyboard on the lap top is not at an angle that is healthy to work on for long hours and a lot of typing, I am curious as to what was the rational for many of these changes ? Ergonomics are a huge issue in any work station. . I suppose i could prop it up on stuff but that is not a very good solution for mobile use. Total fail.. the old one had a very very smart user friendly design. The angle was created by the little round area where the batteries went in.. was quite brilliant. Maybe I can find little rubber feet and glue them to the back and then find something to keep it from sliding towards me, it was not designed for that but I may be able to make it work. APPLE do you have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I have found myself typing way faster than I did on the previous wireless keyboard and I love how it has rechargeable batteries built in (a vast improvement over the previous model that chewed through AAs).
