Yes, Thunderbolt ports are "backwards compatible" with most Mini Display Port accessories. They are the same interface, but Thunderbolt offers data throughput.

  • Just today I purchased a Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter to connect a second (older) monitor to my iMac. I was told at the Apple store that the Mini Display Port is synonymous with Thunderbolt. I will know for sure when I hook it up tomorrow, but I think it should work.
