Some laptops have LoJack installed in the BIOS meaning that even taking out the old hard drive and putting in a new one wouldn't delete the software. However, Apple's do not have that feature and therefore this software is just that, software.

To take a precaution however, the software automatically creates a partition for itself to avoid being deleted in a OS reinstall. So a basic reformat will not delete the software. A hard drive swap would however.

  • On Macs LoJack is transparent but should the hard drive be reformatted or exchanged Lojack will be removed. Also, Lojack can't be utilized iunless the laptop is connected to the Internet.
