how do I get Microsoft Outlook 2011 for my Macbook pro if I already have Microsoft 2011 Office (home)

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro with Microsoft Office (Home edition). I paid $150 for the MS Office (Home) when I bought the MacBook Pro.

I now need Outlook 2011 for work purposes. I went to the Apple store to get this done. They put me on a trial version of Outlook 2011, which I have been using for 28 days. The trial expires in two days.

Do I have to purchase Microsoft Office (Business Edition) because I need the Outlook 2011? MS Office (Business Edition) for (1) user is $200.

I do not see anything on the Apple or MS websites that allow me to upgrade or add just Outlook 2011 to my current MS Office (Home).

Please recommend what I should do. do I need to go to an Apple store for help?

If you open one of the Office applications, go to the application menu and choose "Purchase Options". You'll be able to purchase an upgrade key for about $100.

  • If your MacBook Pro runs either Snow Leopard or Lion, (these have the Mac App Store) you can check the Mac App Store and search for Outlook. This is not very likely to work, but it is still worth to give a try. Good Luck!
