  • Unlocked means you can use it on any carrier by swapping the SIM card. i.e. if you bought an unlocked GSM iPhone you can use it on AT&T or T-Mobile or Virgin Mobile, etc. If you bought an unlocked CDMA iPhone you can use it on Verizon or Sprint.

  • Means the phone has been unlocked so that it can work with any cell phone provider, not just the one you bought it on, for example if you bought a phone that required a 2 year service plan, they will lock it to that provider.

  • An unlocked iPhone means you can use it on different cell phone providers. For example, if you were to buy and I unlocked iPhone you could use it on both T-Mobile and AT&T (not at the same time).
