Can I burn cds on a mac laptop?

Of course, you can burn CD and DVD on a MacBook Pro which has regular display and DVD drive (not the one with Retina).

Yes you can on the MacBook Pro without the Retina display, with the retina display models require you to buy an external cd player

of course you can. if you are trying to burn an audio disc, use itunes, to burn ISO images or .dmg files use Disk Utility and for other file types simply add them on your CD/DVD writer and click on burn. CD/DVD burning is a built in feature with OSx. Else you can use any third party software like Nero Burn to burn your CD/DVDs if you have a disc burner (the physical hardware) on your mac.
